Karen: I'm not completely heartless..... I'd let you sleep with Gypsy, my ancient blue heeler who smells like ham & beans (I swear she does...have no idea why). She MAY or MAY NOT share her doggie blanket with you. Oh yeah. She's missing some teeth and her breath smells...a little.

I love my SSE and Baker Creek Catalogs! I can't wait for winter time when all of the new ones come out, mine is beginning to show it's "age". You know it is well loved when the pages are all bent up and mangled. I write in mine too if I like a product or if I ordered it so I can remember what I have. My garlic is on it's way from SSE- it shipped on Monday should be here soon!!!

I read this quote today and thought about how true it is. Especially for the women here. I believe this so strongly for each of us, and see it in each of you....So just a little "HUG"...
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world".

Ladies, I posted my bio. It has a blurb about me and what my goals for being in the group. You know me, it's a long one and will get longer because there are things I wanted to include but am too worn out right now. I figure we can update our bios as time goes on if we see something in someone else's bio that we wish we'd included in our own.
Anyway, hopefully tomorrow my posts will begin to make more sense. I'm feeling better and better as time goes on. Can't wait to get my spunk back though. No more smart aleck remarks from me though so I don't send y'all into panic mode. At least none until I'm fully mended.
Good night, my dear, mavens. I'm off to do more reading in "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle."
God bless - Karen ~ Chickherder & Farmgirl Sister #311 |

TS: Got your bracelet done today! Too ca-uuute! As MJ would say... (read her first book) Its has a spade, a trowel, a water can, flower, a bee and a lady bug! Very garden-y!
I have limited charms left! I have plenty spools, sewing machine, quilt block, etc etc.
I have a few animals... rooster, bunny, horsey....
Great Christmas gifts for $12!! (nice plug eh??)

Thank you Dawn, I can't wait to get it, now how do I pay for it? Does it go through our paypal thingy? Been in Spokane all afternoon, ugh, I have to go make dinner and I don't know if I'll be back tonight, but I don't have to go to the cafe tomarrow, so I WILL BE ON IN THE AM! Scored some great glassware at the value village and was frustrated trying to find anything organic at yokes supermarket, annoyed I am. Ordered my SSE catalog, we should all make a list of what we want from it and we each could buy some different things and split it amongst us. Okay, gotta go make biscuits. Love y'all

forgot to mention that on the first page of the Stark Bro.'s catalog they offer an heirloom collection that they call "Legacy collection" of a variety of apples. thought that was cool that the first page of offerings was the heirlooms. -------- o.k. I'm off to go sign up for some catalogs for heirloom varieties. SSE for sure... and then see what else I can find. ---------- Hubby will have the bumper sticker ready in a day or so..he was really swamped this week with orders..so he started tonight on the bumper sticker finally..we will have it..so be patient with me please. Also..I need to know who to send them to. -----------

Wow - just got home, caught up with my reading:) - you guys are great, can't wait till we're all in one place at the BBB. Annika, I loved your description of money - I hate the stuff, wish I didn't need it. Karen - glad you are getting chiropractic. Funny how we get cocky about our health when we feel okay isn't it. Corinne, I will check out that source Teresa Sue - have you ever shopped at Huckleberry's in Spokane - not to blow my own horn cause I work there but, it's an organic and gourmet grocery, lots of organic produce and bulk foods and other stuff too. I can just imagine how beautiful your property is - how long have you lived in Tekoa? Tina Michelle - what all does Stark bros. carry? I think that is who Barbara Kingsolver talked about as having heirloom apple trees - am I dreaming that?
Hi to everyone else too - don't know if I will make the henhouse action tonight but for sure tomorrow Sweet dreams Amy Grace

Okay, here goes: --------- Rene, I love that quote. I proposed that it should be the Mavens official quote. ----- My dear, dear Dawn. Alas, I will not be able to come to the first annual HMSF(Heirloom Mavens Spring Fling)One, I can not get away in May. I have a lot of work to do to get the cemetery just so so for Memorial/Decoration Day. I'm really busy there until July. We have our little town wing-ding in June and a lot of people come home for that and come visit their friends and relatives at the cemetery. :( ------- Alee, hmmmmm. I won't be growing anything but salad sprouts this winter. Our ancient farmhouse is dark and cold. In the winter it is even worse. I will start some tomatoe, and peppers in Feb or Mar- I'll have to see what variety I choose and figure frost dates, etc for here. Although, if I can get it done I would like to build a cold frame(ooooo, I feel a badge moment coming on ; ) ) this fall and then I could probably have lettuce most of the winter. The thing is, we are going to work like dogs next summer and get as much as possible done on our Idaho place and I'm not going to have a lot of time to garden. I made a deal with my husband, the only time I wouldn't work at the place is the weekend of the BBB. I'll have tomatoes, cukes, peppers, summer squash and delicata squash(I love it,yum). Just the bare bones of a garden, so to speak. But look out when I get moved! --- I will buy a bumper sticker, make that three, no, four. ---- Miss Lilly I love Baker Creek too. I was really happy with what I ordered from them last spring. -- QMD(Queen Maven Dawn)will you put up a list of our members in the henhouse, sorry I'm a visual learner....I'd make that little face with the characters that has the tonque sticking out, but I don't know how.....PS sorry about the spelling, I just can't look it up, too tierd. I'm we we wwlly, oh jeezez, I'm really glad everyone is feeling better.
