Phew--I get to take a break for a minute. My 4 loaves of bread are out of the oven and the french bread is getting ready to go in. The marinara sauce is simmering. sourdough starter is a sourin, and some sandwich sprouts are soaking. I have milled Red wheat, White wheat, Rye, and getting ready to mill up some corn. Anywho I log on and there are pages to read.

It is great we have new girls here-the more the merrier.

I have to tell you sometimes I get a little whiney to DH and he always lets me know he will trade places with me any day. I can go and be the breadwinner and he will stay at home to do the chores. He will make the dinners, sweep the floors, and even run the errands. The other night I did the whiney thing and he made me the offer again but this time he added that he would even wear my apron and chat with my Maven friends! Do keep in mind that I am 5'2" and my apron is built to fit me, it is also pink and yellow sunflowers. My DH is 6'6", a former Marine and very "Mountain Man" like. I laughed for 10 minutes picturing this! Thought you would like a good laugh too.

Time to get up and put the french bread in........see ya later.

Seriously? I've been gone since 10am and I have 6 pages to read? What will I do when I have to go to work? How will I keep up? ARGH! I'm just kidding.

AG: I know EXACTLY what you are going thru. My hubby has been up my hiney 24/7. If I'm sittin on the throne, he will STILL talk to me outside the door! God Garsh Man! Get a LIFE!

Lillian~ I'm chuckling picturing that. I too am 5'2" and my hubby is a BIG, burley man. But he wont' trade places with me because he knows he cant do it. When he comes home fromt he farm and asks me what I've done that day.....and about 30 minutes later I finish as I'm wiping down kitchen counters or whatever, he'll say " Lord, you make me tired!" And he just put in an 11 hour day! Its been so good to hear from you.

Guess what I'm eating....well, drinking. GREEN FOOD! Now that Audrey is gone, I can get into all my healthy stuff... its really gross btw.....

Hey, if'n ya'll get a chance, check out the new pics on my blog..... I'm so PROUD!

gals..before you start tossing out seed that you think is "old" let me tell you what is going on here!
I had a packet of heirloom melon seed called "Collective Farm Woman" melon.
dated 2003! I set them on a damp paper towel in a ziplock bag about 3 days ago..and..yep..some of them are starting to sprout!
So..I'll be planting some melon seeds really soon.
I honestly thought the seeds would not be all that viable after nearly 6 yrs stored under my cabinet in the kitchen.
So...just to let you know..some things can last a while.

RUTH! It's so good to hear from you. You are missed from this side of the monitor too. There are days when I have complaints about the mail service but after today (when they saved me from having to fight for parking and stand in line for forever at the tax office), I'm keeping my lips zipped. Catch me next week though!

BRENDA! Just wanted to throw that in so that when you eventually read this thread, you'll know you're being thought of.

AMY GRACE! I love reading your posts because you have the oddest things happen to you. If I heard that mail-chasing story and was asked which maven is living it, I'd say, "Amy Grace - who else!" And re: your husband - I remember when my dad retired. I got a phone call from my mom: "He's driving me crazy!" He tried to rearrange the things in the cupboards to make it more efficient for her. And of course questioned everything she did. Hang in there, girl. This too shall pass. Til then, I agree with TS - hand him a shovel!

LILLIAN! Girlfriend, you get the busy beaver award today. I would love to be at your house with that good bread baking.........yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm! I would love to see your hubby in that apron. Even better, let him sit in on chat night! We'd give him a run for the money.........!

DAWN! Green food - you go, girl! Are you putting in a whole scoop per glass? If so, you're braver than me. I'm still at 1/2 tsp per glass so I've got a long way to go. But at least I'm drinking it and my mouth doesn't taste like I just grazed on the lawn. I will get there eventually. Until then, and always, you are my s-hero!

TINA! Woo hoo on the seeds! It pays to check 'em, huh? Love your 'better world' tagline!

CHERYL! Oh, wait, she hasn't posted since I last checked in. But she did send me an e-mail and is going to be roosting in our henhouse! She's already in the sisterhood so she just needs to get added in here. Woo hoo!

Okay, must go take care of DH. It's been stressful at work and he got worn down. Now a cold has gotten the best of him.

Sweet dreams, maven lovelies.............'Night, Ralph...............'Mornin', Corinne...............

God bless -

Lillian - all that bread sounds lovely!! I'm hoping for a really productive day on one of my days off next week - really hoping for the house to myself.
Teresa Sue - yeah, I suggested the shoveling thing, he thought it was a good idea, then fell asleep on the couch. I have been accused of being a nag (I know - shocking)at times so when he woke up I didn't say anything. Then when dinner started I get the "why didn't you remind me?" can't win for losing:)
Tina - I have a bunch of seeds left from my non-garden last year, I was hoping I could use them. They are all Botanical Interests which I have had very good luck with - I have heard that the larger the seed the better the odds that it will stay viable. Have you heard this? I will definitely give them a shot. Where did you get the Collective Farm Woman seed?
I am going to double-dig my garden into beds this year rather than rototill. I'm hoping that will help with my weed situation.
Dawn - yes I too have had my husband outside the bathroom door "whatcha doin?" really? You really want to know?
Brenda - we miss you
Dawn what kind of green food are you eating/drinking? I usually cheat and buy Naked or Odwalla - I have a hard time with Odwalla because they are owned by Coca Cola
The dog can now get over the fence because of the amount of snow - then once she starts breaking one rule they all go out the window.
Talk to y'all soon

Gotta run, doing some geneology on ancestry.com. I've been able to go back 9 generations so far (thats just my grandfather's family) and I haven't even started on my grandmother's side.

Cheryl, you're so cute! Your post is so maven you're gonna fit right in.

Yea, I'm still here. I needed to answer some e-mails and thought I'd check back one more time.

Odwalla is owned by Coca-Cola????? Just stab me in the back! They're my go-to bars. Rats!

Wow, Lora, 9 generations - that's so cool! I was working on our family tree but then quit after my dad died. Too hard. But after watching the ancestry.com ads on TV I'm getting the fever again. Your success is encouraging.

Okay, I'm really outta here now.

I'm tee-totally ticked off (btw thats worse than just being 'ticked' off)... Hubby and I just watched a show on the Food Network called "How'd that get on my Plate?". They were showing us how they genetically modify tomatoes...... I didn't want to watch it but Jerry said I should know.... it's good to know he is coming around. They were singing their own praises about how they develope hundreds of new varieties every year and onlyt the "best of the best" get planted in the testing crops. They showed how they extract the DNA to make tomato skins so thick so that the "ones on the bottom can't be crushed during shipping". I was being a snarly, sarcastic you-know-what to the tv screen..... they also showed how they ripen them and acted like its the best thing since sliced bread.... I'm hot under the collar now!

SEEDS!!! For those of you that want seed, please email me as I can't keep track of who all asked for them here.

GIVE-AWAY: I've ATTEMPTED lip balm. I have 4 tubs. I will give them away to the first 4 people that email me, in exchange for critisism(sp)... and if it's something that you like and would buy, I need a name..... darn, chicken poop is taken! haha!

Karen: I am using a full scoop. But I gotta tell ya, I mix it with organic yourt and OJ....otherwise I will spit it up....also, my rear end smells like a dairy barn! Thought I'd leave you with some 'smelly' humor on this last day of 2008!

I've already started basil, marjoram, chives and parsley in my window sill. The Parsley seed looks a little moldy and the basil is over an inch high and I planted it Saturday..... wow. The chives havent poked thru yet, and the marjoram is just starting to show.... yay! I'm gardening!

We are snowed in. Went from 40 degree's and sunny to 7" of snow and cold. Sun is shining tho so I opened up all the curtains in the house.... I put Xmas away and the house is clean until September. Now to plan Spring FLing..... YAY!

Tina, I know how that can go... I too left a corp job to follow my passion and wouldn’t trade it for the world... we, too had to tighten the old purse strings. SO I guess I will just have to call you with up to date reports :), from the field.

hey that would be great.:0) but yes Paul left his corporate life and and all the major stress involved with that for a home based business..and yes sometimes when you do that..things change drastically...in more ways than one.
