Dawn,
Your news breaks my heart to hear it. I am walking the same path, thus the reason I have had to call my internet service provider and cancel my service. It is only temporary and I hope to have my internet back again some day, but for now it is necessary. I have to feed my kids and some how the bills will get paid. It is scary isn't it? The unemployment bought food for a while and then ran out! :-( We will make it dear sister, one day at a time. Sending hugs to you and everyone who finds themselves in this situation.

Sweet friends, I am humbled and so very thankful for your concern for me. You are all true friends indeed! I am going to do my best to touch base once in a while to check in on everyone. This is just temporary. Oh....my heart is so full right now...

Annika, I look forward to receiving your card in the mail.

Marcy, I did not know that you are posting from the library!!! I am hopeful. I only get to the library about every 2 weeks as it is a 30 mile trip one way!!

Dawn, when I see you driving a horse and buggy with a slow moving vehicle sign on the back...then I will know for sure you went Amish on us!!

Alee, your paper was AWESOME!! Great job girlfriend!

Thanks kids.
Like Brenda, my heart is full. So many times I post that I dont particularly point out one or the other, but all of you are family to me. Ruth, you always have an encouraging word, and Alee cheering up the place when you have the time! So often I dont get to say hi to all of you.....Annika and Lora..... Amy Grace, Corrine, and Denise......
Did I miss something about ringtones? Boy howdy do I have that covered. Right now its Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt, I also have Pink's "So What" and my personal favorite: Ernie (from Sesame Street) singing "Rubber Duckie". Now my ring back tones (the ones you hear when you call me...) I have the Ohio Sate Fight Song (GO BUCKS!) and The Grinch song, Santa Baby and DOwn to the River and Pray by Allison Krauss-its reminds me of being at home (West Virginia) on the Holly River.... I feel so complete when I'm in the Mountains.... I also have chickens clucking....cuz I'm just a nut.
I guess ya'll will jus have to call and hear 'em...... Good Night!

Okay here goes - ya miss a day and it's just all over here!!
Tina - will be thinking about you and your teeth:D
Dawn - My thoughts are with you - I've been in similar situations and it is yucky - I know that "pit of your stomach" feeling
Teresa Sue - Good for you for taking the grandbees - Bolt looks funny as heck, I love kids movies and Cabela's is an experience all to itself
Corinne - How cool that you would get to be near family in France and gardening too - I need your NY address again. Overzealous help clearing the table from my son and I can no longer find it. That is the address I can send your package to right?
Karen - one of my nicknames is Amazing Grace - my mom used to write it in very large calligraphy letters on my lunch bag. I didn't really appreciate it at the time....
Brenda - you will always be a maven!!
Alee - great job on the paper and good luck with the rest of finals
Annika - glad the goat is better and I will remember your word of wisdom about medicating goats:)
Ruth, Marcy Jo, Lillian, Denise, Rene howdy to y'all too I hope I didn't leave anyone out.
Two days till the cheese sale and counting
Take care!!

Dawn I'm so terribly sorry to hear about your family deaths and your husband being laid off. I wish that there were better words of comfort *HUGS* to you sister
And you as well Brenda, these are hard times and I wish we all lived closer to one another. But we can still send letters and be supportive in other ways. Things will get better.

Hugs and blessing to all of my dear Maven sisters, you are all in my thoughts.

Dawn, I'm so sorry to hear about all of your losses. This is such a strange time economically and to have the family losses on top of it all, I just can't imagine. Keep listening to the Alison Kraus song. It's gotten me through some pretty rough spot - good, good lyrics.

I really need to refresh my screen before I post. It looks like I just blew off Dawn's post but I didn't see it before sending mine. Don't want you to think I'm that tacky, Dawnzo.

Should I start working on a cap for you - what do the Amish call those things? You're gonna need to learn the lingo if you're goin' Amish. For sure and for certain.

And if you all haven't heard the clucking chickens on Dawn's phone, you really need to call her. I'm already laughing when she answers - she knows - clucking chickens ring tone was playing.

God bless -

I'm doing okay. I wont be able to make any of the funerals, but I'm okay. Jerry is working at the farm today (he called last night to see if there was anything for him to do) and as long as there is corn to shell and poop to haul he'll be busy for a couple of says. The dairy farm where the hatchery is has about 600 head of cattle. So maybe he'll get to milk as well, at the very least, you can always count on poop!!
Thanks for thelink Annika! You are my angel today! Maybe I can make and sell a couple of those......

Morning Mavens!

Everybody out in Mavenland needs to remember that we are MAVENS and will pull through these tough times!!! So chins up Girls!

Dawn- Be sure to put a farmgirl bumper sticker on that Amish Buggy!

Marcy- You are welcome, it was my pleasure!

Tina- Good luck with the teeth. Why are they only pulling three and not all four? My dentist pulled only three of mine and left the fourth one to come in all the way. Now 7 years later I am looking at problems with it and another large dental bill to have it removed too. Wish I had it removed when I had the other done.

Brenda-You are always a Maven and I look forward to your posts from the library.

I was waiting for Marcy to get her package from me so I could tell everyone out there about it. About a year ago I found a free gardeners journal on the web and printed it out. It is great! You can print the pages you want or don't want. Also print as many as you need of any page. I have used it in the past and am getting a new one ready for the coming season.....Mavens go print your journal!

Off to the shower.......BBL.

Dawnzo, did you find the plans yet? If not, here's the link get you to the plans: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Recipes-Patterns-Instructions/ Click here, scroll down to the "Raising Jane" issue and then click on the 5-Star Hen Hotel pdf link.

And re: the bonnets - you love head coverings. I distinctly remembering you saying you tried on every hat in the antique store.

Lillian, the garden journal is fantastic! It's so thorough. I saved it and will be making one for hubby as a Christmas present. Of course I'll have my own pages in it too. I may need to color-code the pages - yours and mine - you know how he tends to "take over" my gardening stuff! heh heh heh

Good afternoon!
Dawn~I'm so glad to see that your hubby got some work on the farm. Praying things work out for you. Of course, when Karen makes you an Amish bonnet will you take a picture with it on and share it here. We would love to see it. LOL

Lillian~I am going over to look at that garden journal now. Thanks for sharing it.

We went on a wonderful field trip today to the recycling facility and the landfill. It may not sound fun but it was great. We had some great guides who really knew the ins and outs of the whole facility. I was amazed at how efficient they are and always looking for ways to reuse and recycle the trash that comes into the facility instead of just putting it in the landfill. They actually have people who sift through the trash for material to recycle and anything hazardous before it goes into the landfill. We have a great recycling program in our state and they provide everything but sadly only 17% of the state recycles. That makes me mad. There is no reason why everyone doesn't do it. If we recycled just the paper we use our landfill would be 40% less full.
I'll get off my soapbox now but it is something that I wish more people would do. Especially here when they make the program so easy.

I hope you all have a great weekend.

Blessings,
Ruth

hi,
the reason they are only pulling 3 and not 4 teeth is because the 4th one came in as it should have, and I had had a tooth pulled years ago on the side that the perfect wisdom tooth is on...and it shifted over a bit(due to the gap from the other tooth) and isn't a problem and acts as a molar, it grew in properly. The others did not and are causing problems. One grew in totally sideways and the other two are slightly impacted(one of the impacted teeth has a filling, the other has a chip off of it.So they need to be yanked out.yeah..not fun.

Dawn, I think I see a bonnet in your future....
So I came home from work today - late, because I have worked late all week - and there was a beautiful poinsetta, a card saying good luck with the cheese sale, and my husband cooking dinner in a 1940's vintage flowered apron - what a guy!! It made me laugh and cry all at the same time!!
I get on the recycling soapbox too - we should be putting money into recycling - create some jobs there!!
Hope everyone has a lovely evening
Talk to you soon
