Dawn I am so sorry to hear of your loss. About two years ago right before Thanksgiving DH mom passed, two weeks later my brother, then my great uncle on dads side, and great aunt on moms side, and my oldest kids great grama. I had been laid off at the beginning of November that year as well. I was miserable and my whole family was grieving in two different states at that. It was such a difficult time..but looking back now God had his plan. He knew that I needed to be available for my kids and DH and he provided a way. I was an am so thankful for that.

Things get tough for us Mavens but now we have been blessed with eachother to lean on and learn from. I never had a sister and always wanted one..Lucky me I got 15!!! Careful what you wish for!! Things will work out..they always do.

Now I need a few prayers..heres the story..The first of this year I ended up in the hospital-double pneumonia, blood clot and diagnosed with SVT finally!! I say that because its when your heart races for whatever reason and sometimes doesnt want to stop. Its scary and miserable. I have had that for 14 years and finally knew what it was. So I have had episodes 3 more times this year. Two of them ended in the emergency room..one of which they stop my heart and restart it. Kinda like your PC!! So I finally made my doctor send me to the cardiologist to see about having surgery to fuse the part in my heart that misfires. He is sending me to his collegue in Fort Wayne on friday to talk to him! The procedure is simple and outpatient I believe so that parts good. IF I get to have it done I have to do it by the end of the year for the insurance to pick up the whole tab. I will know more next week but could use a few prayers..

When I stand before God at the end of my life I hope that I would not have a bit of talent left and could say “I used everything You gave me”.(erma bombeck)

Wow, Marcy! Prayers will definitely be lifted up here. I will be praying that the doctor is one you will have confidence in, that the procedure can be done while the insurance can cover it, and that you will have peace about it all.

It's funny that you said you always wanted a sister and now you have 15. I feel the same way. I'm an only child and can remember standing on the back porch at 6 years old crying to my mom that I wanted a sister and "I don't care if she's 80 years old." Hey, maybe we'll eventually have a sister here that's 80 years old and I'll finally get my wish. I'll still keep all of you young chicks as my sisters too!

God bless -

Ha ha. Very funny Karen. But I would wear the bonnet. Me and Laura Ingalls. I do like hats. I try them on everywhere.
Marcy you are right. After my mom died I felt so alone..... I dont now. Not at all. Not when I have a basketball team to call on for my every whim and whimsey.
Speaking of loss. Lora's step father passed away. Its been a rough one for our "family". We are tough farmgirls.....we will persevere. I called her the other night and she says hi, and she's missed ya'll..... she'll be with her mother until things get settled.
AmyGrace, does your husband have a brother? Just kidding.....what a keeper!
Lillian, I got the proclamation the other day! Thank you!
Corrine.... I got my package the other day! I laughed and cried! My kitchen is bordered in a coffee theme..... I just love it. And yes, I've wrapped myself up in a hug or two already!
My computer is running so quick today I cant keep up. What's up with that???
Brenda, TeresaSue and all my other sista's..... Jerry loves working on that farm. If he could do it full time he would (with benefits and all). Yesterday he worked from 6am until 9-ish. When he got home he smelled like calf scours and had this huge grin on his face. I asked how his day was and he piped right up with "F-in Great!!!'...After he was asked if he "kisses his momma with that mouth", he explained that he'd had a really good day. Boys....

I made my first deposit of egg money. I made $24 in a month. You will not.... I repeat NOT get rich on raising chickens.... unless you breed them..... hmmmmm.....me thinker is thinkin'...... I am tossing around the idea of raising meat birds and laying hens. Not chicks, but raising them ready to lay or process. A lot of people dont want to mess with chicks....its just a thought.

I got my first order for the market. I have an order of 50 chicken saddles. This is my second order. Things are looking up and not in the way I thought they had to.... I mean, here I keep saying I gotta get a job (and I do for retirement, insurance etc) but the money IS coming in. Brenda, you a good seamstress? I could use some help.

I miss ya'll... See ya later!!!

Hi All, I am trying to catch up on reading the posts so bear with me. I have missed everyone. It is a busy time and going to get busier. We have a wedding to put together. My daughter, second one, got engaged on Thanksgiving and so we are planning the wedding for June. No moss growing under our feet. lol I am having a good time so far. We are trying our best to keep it strees free, well as stress free as we possibly can. I am spending as much time with her on this as I can as she will be moving about 9 hrs away so we won't have a lot of leisure time together. I am going to try and make time to go spend the day with her having lunch, whatever, during the planning so we will have lots of fun memories stored for later.

Tina,
Just had oral surgery myself yesterday took about 30 minutes from beginning to end. Still quite sore but healing up well I think. I am now looking into a partial to fill in where the teeth have been extracted. Don't have insurance so we are working something out. I really like the guy I have been using for this. He is very helpful and everything.
I will be thinking of you. Praying for a speedy recovery for you and that all goes well.

Dawn and Brenda,
So sorry tohear your news. Please know I'm thinking of you and keeping you in prayer. Brenda,
If it's possible for you I think the library has internet access for people to use. Maybe you could check in with us there. Just a thought.
I am sorry to hear of your loss in the family, Dawn.
I feel like I get so far out of the loop some days. Just so much going on. There are days when I feel like I want the merry go round to stop so I can get off and take a break. Between work and all that is going on there this time of year with the holiday, the stuff at home for the holidays and now a wedding it gets a bit much. Oh well, I know I have lots to learn in this life, so I will look at these things as a learning experience.
TS, I am thinking of your family and your son in laws family too.

Good day to you Mavens, I am back home.
Dawn, I am SO sorry for you and your family. It is a tough time to loose some members of our families. I will pray for you and for the ones who have left. Am happy that you got the little something I've sent.
Marcy dear, i so hope you can have answers and help with your heart, i will pray for the specialist to have guidance and for you to trust him.
Brenda, how are you doing ?
Amy Grace, if you send you mail soon, it should make it. We know for sure that we will have left Kuwait right after Christmas.
If you prefer to wait, you can give it to me in person in march in France. that should be a lot of fun.
Denise, thank you for the beautiful Thanksgiving card, it is so thoughtful of you to have sent one to me too, I will put it in a gardening book so I can look at it often.
Teresa Sue, thank you for the lovely card, your words touched me deep inside and thanks for sending another letter with the picture of your quilt and the pattern, it is so nice to see what you are doing.
Tina, good luck with the dentist, let us know how you feel after the pulling out.
Lillian, Lora and Ruth, I am glad you are around.
Dawn, just knowing your've thought to each of us is already a gift and when time will be easier we will all rejoice together.
Karen and Annika, I have missed both of you, will resume emailing this week.
About us now, it seems quite sure we are going to relocate in France. I will send an email explaining all to the Mavens, it is better than spread out on a forum.
L O V E to ya'll.

Corinne - if I send it to which address?? New York or Kuwait? I would love to give it to you in person in France, but I also want you to get something in the mail!! Maybe I will do a little of both. I look forward to getting your e-mail.
Marcy Jo - my prayers that everything will work. That insurance will cover and everything goes well.
Denise - how exciting to plan a wedding - we had 6 weeks to plan/execute ours, but I am pretty lowkey about things so I wasn't going to stress, it turned out lovely.
Dawn, good to hear your voice, I have a temperatmental funky old hand-me-down computer and a couple weeks ago I thought it was a goner, it came back, maybe yours will too.
Teresa Sue - did you stop in to the cheese sale? It was a madhouse so I was hoping I didn't miss you.
On that note - the cheese sale is over!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't have to do it again for a year - yay!! It is fun but a lot of work, I literally ran for 6 hours, got super dehydrated, now I feel sort of icky, but the house is semi-clean again, I can think about Christmas.
Thanks for all your kind words of encouragement during the build-up. I so appreciate you all and being part of the MJF sisterhood in general and the Maven sisterhood in particular. I spaced off sending my phone number to Corinne so will try to send a group e-mail, or maybe just send it with my Christmas Cards,
Talk to y'all soon - hope your Sunday is wonderful. We are going to a plum pudding festival at my mom's church, sort of a talent show, carol sing and then we all eat real plum pudding. Mom is the minister, so she puts in a lot of hours at this time of year, so she appreciates us coming.
Talk to you soon - I have another day off tomorrow, amazing

Good Morning Mavens,
It is so good to hear you again Dawn!!!
I don't usually get on here on Sun., but today is our anniverary and we are just laying low and enjoying it. DH is watching football and I'm checking in here while I let my dishes soak for a few minutes.
DH brought me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers, he's always so thoughtful and always remembers birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Marcy jo, I rec'd my Christmas pkg yesterday, thank you, thank you, everything you sent was so cute! Mavens you should see the cute apron she made me, part of it is from a pair of jeans, it also has garden fabric, just too cute! A recycled can with fabric on it that I'm going to use for my pens(it's so funny because I just did something different with my phone books and such and I needed something for my pens, lol) and the cutest little garden gate magnet with MJ's Heirloom Mavens on it and a cute little garden sign. Thanks so much, it really brightened my day after dealing with funeral stuff for the previous two days. I'll keep you in my thoughts for your surgery.
Glad to hear from all of you, oh, I got all my Maven and Mud Hen Christmas cards done and they will go in the mail tomarrow. Dawn I hope to finish your Christmas pkg this coming week and get it in the mail.
Amy Grace I didn't make it to the cheese sale, so sorry, I was just too overwhelmed with the funeral thing and when it was all done and said I just got in my car and came home. I didn't get milk or catfood or anything, I just wanted to be home. It will give me something to look forward to next year. Get some rest girl.
Talk to y'all later.

Teresa Sue - I'm glad you just went home - you have to take care of yourself. Plus, with feeling overwhelmed, this particular event would have been way too much - some of my vendors were even overwhelmed and they do this kind of thing all the time!!
Hope you are getting some r&r
Have a good anniversary - any plans or just relaxing?

Good morning dear Mavens,
Well, one more day of "going", then I can settle down to do Christmas stuff. I'm heading in to CDA this morning with a friend(we only get together twice a year because we live in different places). We're going to Lyle's fabric store, a wonderful, wonderful place. This time of year they have these fabu Christmas ornaments from a place in Spokane, Old World Ornaments, They have several decorated trees, it's a holiday ornament junkie's dream come true. Then theres the fabric, if they just had a book store in it, you'd never get me out of there! LOL
Hope to be home by three so I can bake bread, I'm going to put a pot of spaghetti sauce on this morning.
Amy Grace we had a very relaxing day yesterday. I put up some Christmas garland, John watched some football, & we went down to Colfax and ate at the Mexican restaurant, it's our favorite!
Lillian thanks for that garden journal, that is so awesome!!
Well are y'all closing in on the last few chapters of AVM? I waiting till y'all finish to apply for my badge so we can apply for our badge together.
Corinne I'm so glad about your news and thank you for getting Brenda's addy for us. You are always such a thoughtful person, hugs
Dawn I hope your'e doing okay, you are starting to sound like your old self, mmmmmm, okay, yea that's good, LOL!
I have to tell y'all I'll be glad when Christmas is over so we can spark this place up again, ha! I'm still waiting for my SSE catalong and my Dec MJFarm. Big Sigh.
Well, dear friends, I have to get busy, hopefully I'll remember tonight is the Monday Maven Madness chat.

Hi girls!

Hopefully this will be a quickie so I can talk tonight. I am setting the alarm on my phone NOW.

This wknd was rush rush rush for me. I busted my butt all day Saturday cleaning and trying to fit everything I got my daughter in a stocking. How do you fit a blender in a stocking? I finally gave up and decorated a brown paper grocery bag like a stocking. I always go overboard on her. And then I totally forgot that I'm not done with her scrapbook. So that's my plan today to finish up that and I will wrap that up and it'll be a special gift from me.

Yesterday was spent running. I'm almost starting to hate days like that. However, my friend sells those Gold Canyon candles and is hosting an open house this week. She asked if I'd be interested in doing the Tastefully Simple stuff for food and I said sure. I've kinda gotten out of it since becoming food conscience..... I was just going to let my contract expire, but since money is tight, if I can get some sales out of it, what the heck....right? So I made White Chocolate Cranberry Almond Biscotti, Cheesey Vidalia Onion Dip, Fiesta Dip, a Butterscotch Brickle Cheese Ball, and a Parma-Italiano Beer Bread with Herbed Onion Spread. My kitchen still smells heavenly.... the best thing about all that is it all comes from a mix.

Then we were off to see Jerry's mom. Who insisted on getting us new phones for Christmas. We were due for upgrades, but hadn't. So we did that and then it was off to Jerry's dad's for a quick visit. There was a lot of family there (just got done hunting) so that visit stretched for a few hours... I had to listen to the tales of the "kill" and the "just missed it's". All in all a good day, but I'm beat.

Today I am hoping to also get started on baking. We are having Christmas this coming Sunday in Columbus with my dad so I need to get that all squared away. Busy busy. I will be so grateful for the cold months of January and February.

For those of you that are on the last leg of AMV, it's good. I finished it a while back and already put in for my badges. I hope that was okay..... maybe I should've waited. Sorry.

Have a good day all. I will be around here 9pm EST or 6PM Pacific. TATA!!

Sounds like everyone is so busy. We had a very "lazy" Sunday afternoon, which was so despretely needed.. Just movies, napping and popcorn and the fire place. My hubby just finished carrot harvest, and my son Cole finished football (second in the state).........So we just laid around trying to catch our breath. But it is back to the grind this morning and we all hit the floor running it seems, as it is a busy week...........again!

Hi Mavens!! Well, today I decided to make all the kids and DH some sleep pants for Christmas! Not too hard got oldest sons and DH done by lunch! Only 4 more to go and another apron for a friend. DH only has 2 more days to work this week and then he's off til Jan. Not ready for that!!! I have to get done rearranging and cleaning before Wed. He hates change!! I even have to put up the tree when he's gone just so I dont have to hear Scrooge!!! I think he likes it-he complains to all his friends-I just think he hates the commercialism part of the holidays!!

The weekend was spent working on gifts, cleaning and cooking!! Trying to iron out a day for our family's Christmas dinner. Its so hard with kids all over the place!! Well, girls have fun tonight...I think about you at chat time!!!

Sleep pants! Marcy you are brilliant! Thats what everyone is getting next year for Christmas. If I'm smart enough, I'll start in Jan and not have to do this "rat race" next year! Freakin' brilliant! I could do that and a t-shirt for everyone in a little draw string bag! BRILLIANT!

Good afternoon, ladies!!
It was a busy weekend here, too. On Saturday we went to a Festival of Lights in a small local town. I found the most wonderful yarn shop and can't wait to go back. It was tiny and crowded. We also did a hayride with Santa. It was fun.
I worked on my gift for Rene. It is almost on it's way. I just have some little things to finish. I keep thinking of things to add to the box and it is getting full. I can't wait to send it out.
I went to the grocery store today and I should be ironing some clothes for hubby. He needs them for work. I just had to check in with all of you.
Blessings,
Ruth

I've been working on Christmas too - Corinne's present is almost done. I made pajama pants for all the boys in my family too.
Marcy did you use a pattern or make your own? I used a "Favorite Things" pattern and man it makes up really fast - I am not a fast seamstress but those pants gave me a huge confidence boost.
I've also felted two hats, a bag and a pair of slippers today, plus I'm working on finishing one last slipper to felt. Nice day, I was reading a garden book though, and I posted in the henhouse about another "maven" book I read yesterday, got me thinking about spring:D

Helloooo Mavens! ;) :P
What's up??? I wanted to see if I could get one last chat time in before they pull the plug on my internet. :( Guess what? I am on dial up and this evening I was talking to a friend that lives a few miles down the road from me and she was telling me that we will soon be getting the faster internet with AT&T!!! Yippee!!! So by the time I can afford to finally get back online, I'll be posting at the speed of light! Well...almost. :) It is about to pour down raining here. Thank you Corinne for getting my other addy out to everybody, ya'll don't forget my slow poke mail too okie dokie? I finally got my SSE catalog in the mail, it is not the 09 issue though. But that is ok with me. I was just telling my friend down the road about planting a garden with heirloom seeds and how important that is and the words from her mouth were: "Your right! It has to start with us!" Yippee! I'm gonna introduce her to this forum and thread. You all would love her!
