Well Hanna has formed and now there is yet another system right behind her!!! Good grief!
I think I am pretty prepared. Wish my husband was home but he is in Tunisia until the end of September so this farmgirl will be holding down the fort. Good luck everyone.

When I read of the blizzards up north, I feel glad I am in Florida. This time of year, I would welcome a blizzard. November, please come soon! I do not want these storms to hit anyone......but Marly I am glad you are all planned out. If it turns, we will have to make last minute plans. It is so good to be able to voice our concerns here!!!!

Now I hear that there is another tropical storm brewing, named Hanna. Very weird weather! |

Marly, are you planning to take all of your kitties and your dog too? I sure do hope so. Be safe and keep those babies safe too! Now I am wondering just how many tornado's Gustav will spawn. Those twisters freak me out more than the hurricanes do in some ways. You never know when one will drop down out of the sky!

Praying for everyone that the hurricane will be like our Gustav - all bark and no bite. Well, at least not more than a nibble.

Brenda: Do you have room for a 25' travel trailer? As the hours go by, I am getting more nervous about this! We are planning to go to our camp which is by Lafayette. At least there we will not be around water. At our house we are surrounded by water; front and back. But- if this Gustav comes in as a category 4 or, God forbid, a 5, we are up a creek!!!!!!! I can email you if you would like. Let me know. Marly |

SUSAN in Louisiana: Where will you be going for the hurricane? Let me know! I don't want you by yourself. We'll figure something out if we have to. No problem. I'll be up for a while. We are watching the weather channel, getting the travel trailer ready, car is tanked-up, cat cages are out and ready to pitch cats in, clothes and necessities are packed, etc... Tomorrow we will take care of the yard things, taking down chimes, over-turning benches, chairs, tables. I'm sure you've been pretty busy, too. I hope you see this post. Marly

Alee: How sweet you are! Thanks. If I were not such a basket case right now, I'd say yes I am coming to Montana. But, as you may know, after a hurricane one has to return home to start checking the damage, cleaning up, etc... That offer is really kind of you. Maybe one late summer, we'll go up there in our travel trailer. I'll cook all kind of cajun food. I'll even babysit for you and Doug. I'm just really wild right now. Watching way too much weather channel. I know they have to prepare people for these hurricanes, but now they are reliving the hurricanes Katrina and Rita (Rita is the one that hit us so bad, 5 and a half feet of water in our house).Like all the other people going through this, we'll be okay. It's just so nice to beable to vent and chat and rant about things. I cannot sleep. Oh geez, by Saturday I will be a wreck! And Alee, I am such a positive person, and the one who usually rolls up her sleeves first and gets started doing what I have to do. I worry about my sweetie (my husband). He just turned 70 on August 4. However, he is in the best of health, but I am concerned. If I would let him, he would climb on top of the travel trailer. Thanks for the posting and the offer, Alee. I know you are some special person, just by reading your postings. Take care. God Bless you. Marly

Ladies, Check out what is brewing in the Atlantic waters. After seeing what Hanna looks like, Gustav doesn't seem so bad! You can also tell there is circular rotation to the storm that is on the heels of Hanna. http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/tatl/avn-l.jpg

Marly, I honestly don't feel like Gustav will reach a Cat. 4 or 5. He doesn't appear to be as big as Hanna. But just in case, I will make room for you girl! I also live close to a state park and they have lots of camping areas. Alot of refugees from Katrina and Rita were placed here at the state park area in the cabins. Let me know if you decide to come further up this way.

Thanks Brenda. I'm hoping it will not be a 4 or 5! The neighbors are following us whenever we go. If Gustav stays at a 3, we'll be at our camp by Lafayette. We've gone through many hurricanes, and can handle a 3. Thanks, again. Marly

They have changed the projected path AGAIN. Who knows??? Just keep a watchful eye and be ready to pull out and head north if you have to. I had a great quote on my blog yesterday: The trouble with weather forecasting is that it’s right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it. ~Patrick Young

Brooke: Same thing over here in SW Louisiana. It's a wait and see thing. From what I understand, we should be getting out of "Dodge", as they say, sometimes Sunday evening to Monday morning. This is typical, as you probably know. Frustrating, yes. Then, we'll play the game all over again with Hanna. Take care. Keep us posted. I'm sure we will get a chance to post more before we have to evacuate. Marly

Oh my gosh! I know the country down there is beautiful, but I don't think my nerves could handle having to evacuate for storms like that! You ladies are so strong and amazing! *hugs*

Alee: People born down here know how to handle a hurricane. We prepare, and yes, we get scared. But, we roll up our sleeves and do what we have to do. Personally speaking, I don't think I could handle one of Montana's snow falls. I know I couldn't drive in one, LOL. I would probably have to quit work when it snowed. LOL. Where ever one goes in this world, there is something; earthquakes, mud-slides, fires, typhons, tornadoes, etc... Thanks for the support. Marly

Annika: I know there are many, many buses fueled and ready to go in New Orleans just in case there is an evacuation. Yesterday, where I live, about three hours from New Orleans, I saw three parish vans with lifts in the back going out country areas. No doubt to evacuate the elderly, or those with needs. After Katrina & Rita in 2005, preparation down here is a must! We all realize that. Still, there are some who refuse to live for a hurricane. I think my husband would probably stay if I'd agree to it. LOL. As I mentioned to Alee, all over the world there are all sorts of catastrophes. I'm just praying that if and when this hurricane or hurricanes hit, no more alligators are washed into our lake! Marly
