Got my Outpost vintage trailer popup up at the campsite this last weekend. Spent the weekend sleeping out both nights. Come for a visit on my blog and see the set up.
Plans for every week, I hope, until it gets so snow deep I can't make it to the camp , unless i use a dog sled team : )
Had a great time, moon full and sounds of the woods and campfire coffee and breakfast cookout was just wonderful. Can't wait tell this weekend at my Outpost

Hey your Outpost was one of those that inspired me to get going with this. I do enjoy your blog and sweet little Nora, what a cutie.

I just received a 1954 Aloha trailer and in perfect shape from my cousin. I can't wait to fix it up. Soon we are all going to be living outdoors and just visit our houses one in awhile. lol

LOVE your campsite.
When we had a cabin, my mom really fixed up our outhouse, it does seem like she had some pictures in there! I know she for sure put on a toilet seat.
And she used to recycle a lot of things she found in the trash! One thing she found that I really liked was some windows. I think they are like the kind you see on trailer homes. It was the old crank style, that was slats of glass. And you would crank the crank and the slats would move upwards and outwards. Any way she found two. And put one on each side! That was wonderful! They were the kind of glass you can't see through, like for the bathroom of a trailer home maybe? They were the kind with the little texture of bubbles like in the glass. I wish I had pictures! Man I wish I had pics. Cause that would be so helpful here! Grrr. Any way she also put up screens. Boy did that help the SMELLS! lol haha
Any way, she also put in candle sconces. (with the mirrored/shiny backs). And a pump sink. We had a double holer! So she covered up one whole and put the "sink" there. It was a camp sink. And you would fill it up with water. And then pump the water out as needed. It was also scavenged from some trash. (she didn't dumpster dive, but if we were driving around and seen something useful by a dumpster she would stop and pick it up, and it's how we got almost all our windows and such!).

Thanks MagnoliaWhisper, I know of the windows you speak of, before we built our earthcontact home, we lived in the ugliest trailer ever. It's still standing and holds all our junk that we are now finally cleaning up. It has the little roll out windows and big roll out windows too, lol.
I wish you had pictures too of your outhouse. We had a 2 holder over at the folks homestead , the first thing that was put up when we moved to the sticks. You know that was a very good idea that your mom came up with, using the one hole for a sink cuz I don't think many go tothe outhouse together, we didn't, lol.
On my other blog that has the same post, one of my blog friends said it needed some reading material, lol. guess I shoud put up a magazine rack .
Boy have I found a lot of goodies on the curb, a couple of seasons ago someone tossed out a big gazebo, its in my garden : ). I have found new sleds, skies, artist easel, paint wooden box w/oil paint. A fencing outfit with two mask and swords. Camping plates,coffee pot and pans. Someone even tossed out love letters, a little over a 100 letters. They are now over 130 years old w/ stamps too. I think they should be made into a book, got some good reads.
Yep theres more goodies I have found. Give me a pickup truck and a town that tosses out stuff and I'm on cloud nine.

Chives, I have seen all those cute trailers. I wish I still had my vintage trailer. I forgot the name of it but it was sure cute. Had a stove and icebox, sleeped four, and then the one side could be made into a table, loved it. My family, the four of us camped in it when moved to the sticks from the city, then after the cabin was built we moved it further in the woods and I stayed in it tell it got really cold, lol.
Those little teardrop trailers are so cute.
I have to say MJ and its members have made me look at things differently and remembering things I did many years ago. I'm having so much fun here.

Thanks Christina /City_Chick. I just got back from a walk on our trails. Seen your post and had to go over and take a look at your blog, very nice, lots of nice pictures, garden, cake, yum and your great fines, that sewing machine, wow. Your DD is so cute and a good job she did on her first sewing project.

Thank you girls, I'm having so much fun and adding more things that I can use when I'm cooking outside. Putting all my cowboy tin wear up in the chuckwagon. Gosh the rain ain't go'na hurt it a bit.
I'll just have to eat out of glass plates here at home instead of my pie pan shape cowboy plate. Or better yet just eat up at the campsite : ).
Things like stick matches can be put in a glass jar with tight lid to keep dry, little glass jars to hold spices. I'll have to keep it critter proof the best I can.
I moved things around a bit,old wooden picnic table closer to the chuckwagon and firepit. I mean we make things closer in our kitchens so why not the campsite too, lol.
Got out my 100 Years of Camp Cooking cookbook with ol timey pictures and true stories. Lots of Dutch Oven recipes. Thats the next thing on my want list to get a Dutch Oven.

| I knew I was keeping those baby food jars for something! Husband wanted to throw them out plenty of times (baby is 25) but I said NO! They would work great for the spices... |

I love the girly chuck wagon and your forgotten apron is a beauty. Nothing more soothing than spending the night in the great outdoors. Your whole set up looks terrific...

Susan what a great idea for using baby food jars for holding spices when camping. LOL on your 25 yr old baby. I have only one baby food jar that has all the kids baby teeth in it. I just didn't have the heart to toss those tiny little teeth away. The kids found it when they were older, in grade school. I told them the tooth fairy gave them back. Worst part was they wanted to know who's tooth was who's :P
Karin, I didn't know I was an apron farmgirl all along. I found more that I had put away. They are out now and I might just wear them once in awhile
