ok my nanny made the best cookies, they were like a bisquit and she poured chocolate on top of them and let it drip down the sides. This recipe has been in our family for generations! I even scrapped a page for it and it got put in Memory Makers magazine years ago. Anyway she made them in batches of like 50-100 and put them on her kitchen table on newspaper. Has anyone else had these cookies? We loved them. I want to make them again !!!

This sounds soooo good!!! It sounds like something my mom makes...but I could be totally wrong. From your description it sounds like biscotti? Is it, or it is something different? Yum!!!

no it's not biscotti. I make biscotti, I make chocolate chip and pistascio. These are round and have sugar in them but are more like a biscuit. I think I need to find the recipe and see if any of you have heard of them before. And after you cut them and cook them and then cook the chocolate that is when she poured the chocolate over the tops.

Are they cream puffs? You cook a pastry and then form it into balls and bake it, then hollow out the center of each pastry puff and fill with vanilla pudding then top it all off with melted chocolate. I guess you could say it looks a bit like a biscut.

My sister in law has memories of this too, but her recreation is to just use biscuits, and then top them with the chocolate sauce, also an indulgence but not quite what you're talking about. Have you tried www.allrecipes.com

I looked online and it's a country treat to have chocolate sauce on bisquits, but this bisquit is actually a cookie, and the chocolate gets hard on it not like a sauce. I am waiting for my mom to call me back, I can't find my recipe here for it. hugs

ok - my mom found the recipe. On the actual card nanny wrote it on so it was hard to read. Picture this- kitchen table covered with newspaper- this is where she put the cookies fresh from the oven. The card says oven *500 but it's also scratched on and says oven 450* so I am guessing you will have to watch them. also she does not say how long to cook them. For the dough.

Dough:
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
3/4 c. milk to 1 c.
3 level tsp baking powder
divide dough in two
roll out on board
cut ( she used a round cookie cutter)

icing:
1 tsp vanilla
3 heaping TBL cocoa
3 c. sugar
mix well add 1 1/2 c. milk
BOIL until forms a soft ball when dropped in cup of cold water ( when I do this I just dip some out on a spoon)

After the cookies come out of the oven ( and again it does not say how long) but they are a light brown on the bottom. She placed them all out on the newspaper and when the icing was done she just took it from the pan and poured it over each cookie so it would drizzle down the side!

You can't eat just one.

sorry it took so long for me to find it.
