Our yard is only 75% fenced. Of course dare-devil baby Nora loves sprinting for the street every time we are outside. So we needed to put up some sort of fence that wasn't going to cost much if anything since it's just a rental.
So my neighbor that shares the yard and I found some free pallets in great condition and some weird 2x4's that have a triangle screwed on- Think wooden stilts. So we buried the 2x4's in the ground and used the wooden Triangle part as an anchor point for the pallets. Today or tomorrow, we are going to install a hinge on the middle pallet so we will have a gate! We are also going to call around and find a gallon of mis-tint paint and perhaps by enough wood to nail in and fill the gaps where the pallet wood doesn't fill. I think by the time we are done you won't hardly know that our fence was mostly free!!
And the most important part? Nora won't be sprinting for the street any more!!
Good going, Alee. We use old pallets for lots of stuff around here too, mostly for our hay stacks...it makes a great "floor" for that as it keeps it off of the ground...just have to be careful walking over it as it's an easy ankle twister if you fall in between the slats. We also make alleys for sheep chutes out of it attached to T-posts. Have fun with your project and the neighbor!
Yea! recycle. Another great idea for a nicer wood pallet is to use it as the floor for a make do shower when you're camping or roughing it. Keeps ya out the mud. Teresa Sue
