I had my hair cut about a month ago but have only been mildly happy with it. Today my sister bought me a razor comb that I had asked her to pick up for me ($5). So before I used it on the dog (the reason I wanted it) I decided to do some trimming on my hair. It was so much fun! Those things are addictive! I could totally see me shaving my whole head with that thing! LOL But I did cut off a good pound worth of hair. I think it looks better, but I am waiting for it to dry for the final verdict. Maybe I will have to go back to the hair salon and get my hair trimmed by a professional. LOL
This is what my hair looked like in March *ugh*:
This is me and my hair today!:

Alee you are a girl of my own heart. I too love my little razor comb. I only go to the hair salon about once a year for a good cut. Other than that I trim, or actually thin, my hair with that wonderful comb! I am sure you look absolutly beautiful.

Where do you get razor combs? I have really thick hair so I believe this would be quite useful. I would love to see a photo of your new "do" Alee!

I'd love to have one of those combs myself. I bet you look great, Alee.

Thanks ya'll! You are so sweet!
Heather- Yes, I have lost about 10 lbs this summer, but I think at least 3 of it was hair!! You would not believe the weight of the hair I cut off!!

Cute, cute, cute! I got my hair cut at the beginning of the summer and it needs it badly again now. Somehow in the last year I went from drop, silky, fine, STRAIGHT, to curly! And now it's got some waves but starting to behave again. I think it was my meds...or maybe it was menopause. Anyway, I was on some hard meds (one for cancer that actually made some of my hair fall out...) Then you toss in the menopause...whoopee! What a ride! So, I need some professional attention before I go back to work. They'll think I'm one of the kids (I refuse to wear a suit...) |

The only reason my hair is wavy is because I have worn pony tails day in and day out since I was about 12 LOL!

Looks great, Alee. I can't believe you did it yourself. I used to trim my own bangs and boy, that was bad enough. Are you sure it's not wavier after the razor combing? That wave looks like it's all the way down, not just at pony tail level. |

Thanks ladies! I feel great about my hair! It's been long time since I loved a hair cut, but this is nice and fluffy and lots of the weight and heat is gone!!

Your hair looks great :) I really like what you did with your bangs, they look so soft and stylish!

Looking at your pictures and reading about how all you brave women have managed to cut your own hair, makes me want to give it a try. The only thing is that I have long thin hair. It's blond and very fine. Would the razor comb work for me too? Maybe just on the ends or are they more for thinning thick hair? Thanks for your help and God bless!

Michele-
My best advice would be to think about what types of tools your normal hair stylist uses on your hair. A razor comb works great at thinning my hair, but I think if held at a more shallow angle it would work great at giving you a nice feathered look. However, I am not 100% sure. I have fine hair...but tons of it. So it gets heavy really fast. When I do get my hair professionally cut I ask them to describe what they are doing and why so that if I decide I want to change it at home (like I did this last time) I will know how to continue the style and work with my hair type.

Went to the hairdresser today, for a cut and color. I have had red in different shades the last year or so, and now decided to go brown again :) My natural color is dark blond/brown. I just wanted a change (Fall is around the corner :D) and I really like the result!
Sorry, no pictures. I live alone, well with Elvis, but he can't make pics (he is my kitten :D)
I like your hair Alee, looks good!!
