Has anyone done this to red tomatoes before? I'm sure SOMEone has.. I've only heard of the green ones being fried... but last night my brother was over and I had the rest of a beefsteak tomato... I couldn't believe how good they were and very simple .. my brother loved them... I'll be making this again .. Not the healthiest, I know... lol ...I didn't measure anything ... Just concocted up ...

1 egg for dipping the tomatoes...
Some flour....
Mix Tony Chachere Spicy seasoning in ..
Some pepper ...
TINY bit of sea salt
(you already have alot of salt in the seasoning mix)
mix the flour mixture all together..
dip it in the engg and then flour mixture
throw it into hot oil ...

and it is so good!

My fried tomatoes have always been without the batter. Done in bacon grease (YIPES) and eaten in a slushy mess. I love them, but with the fat I don't eat them too often.
