Well, this is the first year I tried growing potatoes, and after planting them late (early May) I did not think we would get any at all. Just on a whim, my son and I went out tonight and started digging up the bed and to our surprise we found about six pounds of Purple Viking and Rose Gold potatoes under the straw in the dirt. I was so happy!! I was not happy about the ant bits, the yellow jackets or the snake the slithered out of the straw, but the joy of success overshadowed those little blips.
I'm sure that there are many of you who have grown them for ages, and are well-versed in the how-to's, but this was a huge undertaking for me and it has inspired me to try again next year! Only I will plant them in February like I'm supposed to.

Yay Karin! Can't say I know anything about growing potatoes but I just got some carrots from a planting in a bucket...so...I know what those accomplishments mean!

Wonderful Karin. I'd make a potatoe hash tomorrow. I love potatoes, any way.

Good job, Karin! I'll bet you're planning on a bigger planting for next year, huh?
