tell us all about your 'saturday'!

i spent part of the morning outside .. mostly taking olde farm tools off the outside barn walls in anticipation for it's new 'paint job' monday morning!

then i came back inside and dusted and scrubbed a few more things in that big 'pile of treasures' laying in the floor waiting for their 'destination' .. i pulled a buncha' things and will take pics tomorrow so the gurlz who won the 99/100/101 post game can pick and choose!

then i went to my antiques shoppe in town with some treasures .. gosh .. it was HOT in there! i did succumb to buyin' ONE THING .. something i've been looking at for awhile now. a wonderful olde cast iron waffle maker! it really has been reasonable priced at $85. .. but i jus' never 'bit the bullet' and got it. today .. i noticed it had been reduced by $20. .. so i grabbed it and it now sits atop my stove with some of my other collection!

then .. i headed up the road to our closest 'big town' ... and got more .. YEP! plants .. yellows and purples! .. will plant them soon!

came home and hung out with 'the man' for a bit .. we had fun staking off where our 'tree house' is going to be! .. then inside again and fixed dinner and just watched a great movie on tv .. no sewin' .. jus' veggin' and watchin' ... FELT GOOD!

now .. i think i'll go back down and tackle that pile again!

TOMORROW .. i'm going to try to make a BIG DENT in the 'stuff'!!! and we're meeting kathy sugarbucket and eddy for dinner and a movie in e-town in the evening.

what you kids up to?

It was a busy day.. We drove into the next town to pick up my hutch. hit a couple of garage sales. Got a wonderful painting on a canvas for $1!! I love it. Also a box of patterns for $1.. it has about 10 vintage childrens patterns in it. Picked up some more canning jars, and salsa fixin's for tomorrow is tomatillo salsa canning day! My ankle is hurting so I am resting with it elevated. I am going to work on my mini quilt in a bit. We spent the afternoon cleaning. Last night I picked up a huge haul of food. So we had apricots to get into the dehydrator, greens and bananas to get into the freezer.. more to do on the freezer part tonight- hubby had to go get more freezer bags..

Blessings, Debra

Did some laundry (and hung them out on the line, even though there were dark clouds!!).
Took our farm help to the grocery store (I went to the Peddler's Mall while they shopped for groceries and the such--found a child's toy scrub board), picked green beans, made a gallon of sweet pickles, rested on the couch for an hour, and went to a cook-out/birthday party for a neice of ours. Been a BUSY day.

I'm doing well, I work every Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I'm a nurse and I work with two adults with developmental disabilities in their companion home (12 hour shifts). I have an assistant which works with me.

Heather, I hope Charlie will be feeling better soon!

Wow! Everyone has had a busy Saturday! Enjoy your Sunday!

I spent ALLLLL day canning! First pickles (I didn't like the recipe's I found in my MANY recipe books, so I kind of made up my own. Hope they turn out ok!). Still working on the pasta sauce. Had GOBS of tomatoes, so hubby and I actually worked TOGETHER to make them into something yummy! (we had some for dinner, so we KNOW it's good!)

We also had unexpected family members showing up at random times. WHY can't anyone CALL before they come over? This is the first day-- in I don't know HOW long -- that my husband actually agreed to help me with something and all of his family decided to pop in-- starting at 9:30 this am, and MORE showed up around 3:00pm. sigh..... I did all the pickles myself, but he was finally able to help with the tomatoes late this afternoon. We still have to put the sauce in the jars, but that won't take long. Anyway, at least I accomplished SOMETHING today!!

Got up early, made a quick trip to Farmers Market. Visited my favorite junk store and brought home a few treasures! Made a quick run to WalMart...I hate shopping there but in a small town we are very limited. Came home and made a salad, cut up a mushmellon, fixed baked beans and sliced a big plate of yellow tomatoes. Then went to family reunion.
Ange came over to the union and you just dont drive a truck with a Vet box into a small town with no Vet and not have to work. She ended up pulling coggins on 6 horses and giving shots to a couple of dogs. So I spent about 3 hours doing farm calls. It was hot and bugs was biting...I would not like being a Vet, well, not the farm call bit. ha. That is not the life I would have chose for my daughter...but she LOVES it.
Got in after 9:30 hot and sweaty and I am pooped. Long day. But I have to stay up until she calls to let me know she has made it back to Greensburg.

* Oh, posted pics taken at the reunion on my blog!
