Pizza Amore in Carmel California over 20 years ago.. the best pizza I ever had.. and I don't even remember if it had cheese on it.. it was a very bready thick crust cut into squares topped with marinated artichoke hearts and sundried tomatoes.. soooo good..

I ate a pizza in Rome. Threw it up projectile fashion!!!!!!!! Very memorable.

The first time Dusty and I went to Jamaica, we had a special order breakfast. We're very "When in Rome" people, so we ate nothing but Jamaican cuisine while we were there. The breakfast consisted of all different types of tropical fruits, different cheeses (goat spread was the best), bamy--which is a sweet potato style dish--and then the main portion of Ackee and Saltfish. All was wonderful, except for the Ackee and Saltfish. Separate they are wonderful, but together..ick! We've been back several times and we are finally going to take the kids in March; DH and I were kidding the other day with our son that he'll love Ackee and Saltfish!!!

My husband and I were preparing for a trip to China (we never did go) and were required to meet with the people who were funding the trip. They had a Chinese family cook us a 20 COURSE!!!! meal of ALL traditional Chinese food. Just so you know, Pork Fried Rice and General Tsao's chicken is NOT traditional chinese food. It was one of the most interesting meals! There were literally 100's of different dishes served and included octopus, cow tongue, the brain of something and tons of other stuff I didn't know what it was. We were required to eat the whole meal with chopsticks! I tried EVERYTHING and many things (like the tongue) were actually REALLY GOOD! The only bad thing was that the meal lasted about 6 hours and I was suffering from the flu and had a fever over 102! I though the meal would NEVER end!
WE ended up NOT taking this all expense paid trip because I chickened out. Once we got to China we were commited to staying 8 weeks and the country would not release us until the 8 weeks was up. That just freaked me out. We were going to some REALLY remote areas and just knowing we wouldn't be able to leave even if we wanted to was really scarey. I do not regret one bit that we didn't take the trip.

We have a fine dining restaurant in St. Louis that serves the most incredible prime rib I've ever tasted. the SMALL cut is 32 oz and looks like a small roast! No I didn't eat it all, but I did cut the meat away from the bone when I got home, gave the bone to a very greatful doggie, cut the rest into small pieces and froze it. Made some incredibly good soup!

We were in Vermont traveling all the back roads and little towns. We came acosss an Inn I want to say The Daniel Webster Inn, but, don't quote me on it. It was the most beautiful place and the food was excellant. What a good time we had.

Imagine my mum, my grandma, and I driving along a dirt track in a little Fiat in the North Western Italian countryside. I'm the navigator and leading them to this village that was only a footnote in a guidebook I had. They thought we were so lost. But I told them to trust me! We ended up in this incredible little hilltop village, eating a late lunch on a balcony overlooking the valley- and the food - it was incredible. There was this little potato/? souffle that just melted in your mouth. Just incredible.

When I was around 14 or so, we had a family bbq in the back yard. Everybody sat around the table that was positioned under a huge old Catalpa tree. Besides the usual fare, Grandma had made her family-famous penuche fudge. It got down to the last piece and one aunt reached for it and an uncle tried to take it from her. Both with their fingers on it, they were wrestling around, poking and slapping each other in attempts to get the other to let go, arguing who deserves it more, when it finally fell onto Uncle's bare leg. He of course teased my aunt that it now had hair on it and she plucked it off his leg and popped it in her mouth. Uncle was just stunned because he thought he had won and Aunt didn't care about the hair! As a teenager, watching my so-called grown-up family members behave this way, was great fun.
I have the recipe, which I make every Christmas for gifts (always saving some for me!).

| the meal I remember the most was when my father took me out to dinner the night before I shipped off to basic training. He took me to a very nice place. I had chataeu briande (sp?) a fabulous salad, fresh made bread and garlic butter. I ordered a scotch (my dad's drink) but took one sip and handed it over to him...yuk. Mostly what I remember is that he was proud of me. |

I have several fond memories. Dont guess I can choose just one. I remember those yummy hamburgers and fries at the Drug store when I was a child. Eating breakfast at the Essex Grill with my Dad as a young girl.
My Aunt Jean that lived in TN was I believe one of the best Southern Cooks in the world.
Oh and I almost forgot the first meal that I cooked for my husband. I wont say it was a good meal but I sure remember it...I was scared to death. But you girls must remember I was 15...yes 15. that was 31 yrs ago...and he is still hanging around, so it must not have been too bad. ha
