It's mending for me. In fact, anything at the sewing machine. And when my girls were little, I sewed half of what they wore. And loved it. Even their prom gowns in highschool. But it seems like the cost of materials and patterns has risen so much in comparison to what you can buy ready-made, especially if you watch the sales. So since I don't sew from scratch, the sewing machine doesn't get pulled out. And the mending doesn't get done either. Ardis

Heather I completely understand. I havent had loss to deal with but at times my depression gets the best of me and I dont even want to get out of bed. All too often I feel as if I am being pulled in a million directions. I have a job, it is "vollunteer" but I do get paid a pitance and work about 60 hours a week as an EMT. If I dont put in the time there arent enough medics. Then because some others see me as the "stay at home mom with Nothing to do" they all want to send their kids over. big sigh. They dont realize I have my own to feed and entertain. Or do and just dont care. It seems sometimes what needs to get done is bigger then I am. I get the kids to help, which isnt always easy, but I need some bigger help too sometimes. Dh works alot as well, he is not much help. The back burner for me seems to end up being the upstairs. As soon as I get the down stairs completely cleaned, then I have to cook and then I never seem to make it up there to clean....

ardis .. so very nice to hear your cyber-voice here on the connection. i love your article each maryjane issue!!! you are a wise and wonderful woman.

i never much sewed in my life .. ha! i can remember sewing my finger to an article of clothing i was attempting to make when i was in high school .. cuz' i was so busy 'regaling everyone with stories' and not watching! the worse needle though was the TETNUS shot the school made me go get!

i LOVE making rag dollies .. they are soooooooo forgiving about uneven seams and unhemmed dresses!

luckily, i am much like my own rag dolls when it comes to my own clothes .. never much mind a rip or tear or patch. (adds character i tell myself!)

are your girls now grown? are you a grammie yet? tell us more about you. xo, frannie
