I tried to start a chapter about 3 yrs. ago but never got it off the ground. Now I am busy with teenagers, but wondering what other Texas chapters are out there??? Thanks.

A couple of the ladies ordered chapter packets last week or so. We'll be hearing about new Texas chapters soon!

Hi AngiKay, I'm Kate from Tyler, TX. Leah from Pittsburg TX is working on starting a chapter. I think she ordered the kit last week and will probably be posting something soon. I'll subscribe to this thread...and when I hear something I will let you know. Where in Texas are you?

Kate, right outside of Austin, but sadly too far from Orange, New Braunsfals, Tyler, or Miles to get together with the price of gas.

i too, tried to start a chapter, but everyone who contacted me at first was too far away. i would love to be part of a virtual chapter and wonder how that works? glad to know at least there seems to be a chapter starting up in the east texas region. i know there was at one time a group around houston but havent heard about that in a while either. so maybe the gals who were in the virtual chapter here could help us figure out what to do to get a virtual chapter goin here for the texas gals. i would love to participate, and help out in some way to get it going.

Frannie, I would love to help start a virtual TX chapter and I am sure we could come up with great ideas on places to support in our own communities or pick somthing. I have always wanted to make blankets for infants or somthing like that. I would love to help organize it and get the word out. I am good at facilitating but not so good a leader or I don't think I am. Maybe we could ask how we could get a virtual TX group going. hugs

Ladies, I run one Yahoogroup and moderate two others. Would you like me to look into how to run a online chapter here? With ya'lls help I'm sure we could get one going.

I'm working on starting an East TX chapter...but that's probably too far from Austin for you to drive, isn't it?
I think an online chapter is a great idea...I don't have time to coordinate something like that but if someone else does, I'm all for it!

Caron- I run 2 yahoo groups as well. I think that would be an idea to keep us together and do address's and such and keep it organized and private for MJFarmgirls. We could call it VTF's Virtual Texas Farmgirls or somthing like that. We could try to organzie like swaps, make blankets for a service projects, work on our own ATC's, gardening tips, etc. I am sure we all could come up with ideas on how to do one.

Sounds good AngiKay! I don't know if the packets have changed, but you might look over yours anyway and see what it says we are to do. I e-mailed someone at the farm, so hopfully I'll hear back soon.

Caron- Look what I found on another post. Fran I just saw you saw it too. So Fran, Caron, should we build a henhouse?
Posted - Nov 23 2007 : 06:45:37 AM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome Angela!
It's easy and we'll walk you through it to the point you're up and running. First, go here and sign up to start a chapter:
http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Chapters/Join.asp
Next, go here and sign up to become an Official Sisterhood Member:
http://products.maryjanesfarm.org/pfoshop/product.asp?dept_id=300&ProductID=84040101
Sometime in the next week or so, we hope to have the kinks worked out with our virtual Henhouses and then you can set up henkeeping! We'll let you know. After that, you can post here on the forum for other farmgirls to join your virtual chapter. You will have named your chapter by then. You might also want to come up with an emphasis of say, stitching, or hog raisin'! Or it might be something like inviting other southern women to join you. Questions? Post 'em here and we'll scrounge the answers!
MaryJane
Look for my new book, "MaryJane's Stitching Room," in bookstores now. Coming next in 2008: "MaryJane's Outpost Guidebook - for Cultivating Your Inner Wild."

Fran, That is what it sounds like. And Caron said she would help and there are a few other TX gals that have great ideas and want to do a virtual one. I need to run and pick up the house a bit but I will be back on later tonight if you want to chat about it.

Oh funny! I had subscribed to the sisterhood, but then cancelled because I decided I didn't need it right now! LOL!
I guess I'll need to sign up again for a sisterhood membership so we can then form a chapter and start our own section of the henhouse (I think that's how it goes).

O.K.Ladies, I will have my sisterhood membership processed tomorrow and they are sending me a chapter packet. Jen (from the Farm) will help us set up our "spot" in the henhouse. So our virtual chapter will be up and running soon. AngiKay suggested one name. Anyone else want to suggest names? I could put them all in a hat and draw out a name for our chapter,if that's o.k. with everybody?

Oh yes, we will also need a "Head Hencho" to be the one to lead and care for the henhouse chapter. AngiKay, you posted first on this Texas Chapters thread here in Chapter Chatter, would you be interested in being the online chapter head? If so, when Jen e-mails me I can forward that to you.
