tempestastrali - crystal deoderant isn't exactly "deoderant" .. it keeps the bacteria that makes you smell away .. and it's much better and healthier than the store-bought deoderants/anti-perspirant... I cannot stand going au naturale... If I did.. I'd be extremely stinky ... this lets me perspire (which is healthy) yet not smell .....

I've used the crystal for a few years now too. Actually need to buy a new one - because mine shattered and the little pieces are just getting too little. :). It is amazing how well it works and how long it lasts. A great healthy choice too.

Our local Meijer grocery store carries it - and is convenient. I wish that we had a Trader Joes close too. The closest is Ann Arbor, MI or Chicago. We stock up on our favorite TJ products whenever we can.

Hmmm, me and my husband experienced the opposite effect. Worked great for us at the beginning. And worked for my husband actually for about 5 or 6 years. Then all the sudden it just quit working!

I used it all growing up and until around last year, then it stopped working for me too. :( I loved it!

It quit working on me too! It just recently stopped working on me. Now I am using baking soda (I learned that from another farmgirl here). Baking soda really works on keeping the smell away! I love it! I put it on my armpits while they are still a little wet from my shower (that way the Baking Soda isn't dry, it kind of rubs the armpits if it is dry).

Maybe you should give baking soda a try. I really like it!

Ok, so we're not the only ones! lol

Well, we tried the baking soda too, and for some reason it irritates the skin there for both my husband and I. It gave us both red stinging welts. I want to try it again though and maybe mix it with water. :)

That is awful that it gave you welts!!
I did notice my armpit being very red and sore when I didn't have the baking soda wet. MAybe it will work for you if it is wet.

I like the baking soda, because it keeps away the oder all day. I have bad armpit oder. I don't think I drink enough water.

I use the baking soda & love it. I never have bo anymore. WHen you apply it, don't rub it in real hard, just gently pat, especially after shaving, when your pits pores are more exposed, I just use even less & still works fine. I have noticed I can even skip a day here & there. I have also noticed that I no longer have pit stains in my white t shirts. I love it & it is cheap & does the trick.

Do you think it could be the brand??? Maybe they actually started changing or doing something different. That is weird!

I don't know if you guys have any GNC's near you but I found a big roll on stick for $5.99 and it's supposed to last up to a year. It's working just fine for me. I think I originally started with that "Thai" brand but this one is just "Naturally fresh deoderant crystal" and I have checked elsewhere and this is a great price. Just thought I'd pass it along. $5.99 for a year? You can't beat that. lol. Imagine how much you spend on those iccky anti-perspirent/deoderants!

I got my crystal from GNC, it was the naturally fresh brand. I bought the mini crystal, I think it is travel size. I have had it for a long time and I use it everyday. I think the travel size crystal could last a year or nore.
Mine quit working for awhile, so I quit using it and used baking soda instead. Now I am using it again and my crystal is working again. For anyone who had this problem, just try to quit using it for awhile, I stopped for week or longer, and then try it again.

I have to use the real deal deodorant in the warmer months. In the cooler/winter months, I use Toms of Maine. I have a crystal stick. It seemed not to work very well, I didn't know to try it longer than a day or two before giving up.
So now that we are approaching cooler months, perhaps I will try my stick again.

My husband and I use Thai crystal stone the stick version.
We have been using it for about 5 years now, we love it.
I used to reek after using a antiperspirant or deodorant in a few weeks. I would have to change brands or styles every time.
I took my mind about a week to notice, I didn't stink!
After 5 years I'd never go back to regular deo or antiperspirant.
Just my 2 cents

I found a couple of mini stone at big lots for 80 cents each. I was thrilled, but I have yet to try them. Nervous I guess.

I love the crystal too. It has worked well for me. My husband prefers to make a thin paste of baking soda and water which he says is perfect. Either way, it is so nice to use more natural products ~ no chemicals and allows the body to rid itself of toxins like it is supposed to.

After reading all this I just had to get a crystal deoderant stick and give it a try. I got the same results as taking a shower every day and not using any deoderant..... I guess it's one of those things that works on some people and not on others.

I just found one that I LOVE and it smells so good. It's Crystal Essence Pomegranate mineral deodorant roll on. Something else you may want to try is Detox Deodorant for nighttime use by Herbalix Restoratives. I buy it off Amazon because it's cheaper there.

I tried the Crystal deo and loved it but it started giving me welts so I had to switch to baking soda. I just slap some in a container with some lavender essential oil.

I have been using the crystal for about a week because I needed to rotated deodorants (they seem to stop working after a while)
The crystal deodorant stone contain alum (the stuff we use for keeping veggies crisp when canning). Alum is actually potassium alum, also known as potassium aluminum sulfate.
Potassium Alum or Ammonium Alum are natural mineral salts made up of molecules that are too large to be absorbed by your skin. They form a protective layer on your skin that inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. These deodorants are recommended by many cancer treatment centers.
I thought you should know that although this may be a better alternative to most antiperspirants and deodorants on the market, it is not completely aluminum-free.
Just a side note, Lump alum works wonders on drying and healing canker mouth sores. It sounds strange putting your deodorant in your mouth!!!! It also tastes really bad!

I tried the crystal and found it sometimes worked and sometimes didn't - I'm not sure but after reading these posts I imagine it depended on whether I had showered or not - so I am definately going to dig them out and try again.

I have a hugh number of skin allergies and can only use one type of deodorant which I finding difficult to get so it would be great if this works.

I tried the crystal deodorant in the roll form and I love it! It did take a couple of week before it really started to work for me, but even during those two weeks I noticed that I sweated and smelled less :D. I had been using Dove before (yuck I know....) and during those first two weeks I was still happier with the results of the Crystal deodorant! Then the ultimate test: Saturday we bucked hay all day and I was hardly sweating "under there" and no odor at all! DH on the other hand, LOL, he thought he'd wear the old aluminum heavy stuff thinking that my natural choice wouldn't hold up.... Yes, I did have to give him a hard time when he mentioned that he smelled :D. I noticed that the old deodorant has been replaced by the Crystal deodorant on his side of the bathroom counter.....
Bernice, thank you for the info, I think I do remember hearing about that now that you mention it. Ha ha! I don't know if I could bring myself to put alum in my mouth I can just imagine what it would be like.... YUCK!

i have been using the crystal deoderant for over ten years, and its great - it of course doesn't stop you from perspiring (which is good, so your body can rid itself of icky toxins), but i like that it is fragrance free and keeps me from being a stinky girl :)

My daughter told me about vinegar both me and my husband have been using it for about 3 year. Has been working great for us. She had to stop using shortly after she told us because it does not work for her. I will have to tell her about the crystals, she may already know she is always at trader joes.
