Hey guys...after tomorrow (Thur) I won't be able to post much if anything for a while. I'm having surgery on my elbow (thank goodness it isn't the arm I write with!). I didn't know it until this past Monday and they want to go in tomorrow. My arm and hand & fingers have been numb and then pain shooting out my elbow for a couple of months. The doc wants to go in there to move the nerve, take out part of my bone, and see if anything else is going on. You know how it hurts when you hit your funny bone? Imagine doing it over and over and over again. That's what I feel like all the time.

I may be missing our Kentucky farmgirl gathering next week down at aunt Wilma's house with the Orchard Sale. It depends on how things go with this. Any time at aunt Wilma's is a hoot of a time. The community over there has the friendliest folks you'll ever meet!

I have my pile of MJF magazines ready to read again and enjoy as well as some gardening magazines. I'll be able to type one handed, but I'll try to post on here, or at least read up on the latest from Nancy Jo's bargain hunting to everyone's moves...I didn't realize how many farmgirls are moving - you go girls! I may have to get on the bullhorn and tell Jonni to fix me a fresh apple pie! haha.

You got it, sister! I'd be so glad to fix you a pie, fluff your pillow, whatever it is you need. Afterall, whichever hand works, you can use to eat with a fork!

I'm hoping all goes well and that you'll be right as rain soon...will you have to do any physical therapy afterwards?

Good luck on your surgery. I have a similar problem with my left foot. I have been getting injections every three weeks that will hopefully disolve the nerve. It does feel a lot better, but not completely gone. Maybe surgery if this doesn't work.
Take it easy for a few days and let someone wait on you!!!!

Jonni - I was just talking about your apple pies with one of my buddies when we were talking about our favorite dessert. :)

Ada Mae - I hope that your foot gets to feeling better. I hate shots and I've had injections in my back. They said that I've waited too long and crossed over the bridge that the only solution is surgery at this point. :( I'm definitely going to take it easy. :)

Aunt Jenny - I'm really gonna miss the girls. It's been May since I have seen them. We have a good bunch in our little KY Farmgirl Sisterhood Chapter. I wouldn't trade them for anything! I meant to tell you that the ringer washer that you have on your blog...my parents use to have one out in the barn to wash old shop rags and such when my dad was working on tractors. I love how you used it as a flower planter.

I've got a lot of blogs bookmarked, so I definitely have some good things to read. :) Thanks a lot for your thoughts! I really appreciate them.

Well, darn it, Jessica. I'm so sorry you've been having such a problem. I didn't know. And I'm sorry for us all that we won't get to see each other at Wilma's. :( I know Jonni asked if you have to do physical therapy. You probably will. Physical therapy can be a painful thing at the time, but just keep at it and the long term results will be worth it. Focus on you.

Ya know...I don't remember if he said anything about physical therapy. I do know that I absolutely hate having to do it. I had knee surgery a few years ago and had a month to get back up walking. I kept having leg cramps like no other and felt like a monkey eating all those bananas to keep potassium in me. I had that surgery the day after I got finished with final exams for the fall semester. We had a "short term" with just one class and mine was actually an independent study on bluegrass music that I did from home. That's a whole nother story to tell you guys. Anywho...I had to be back up walking by the end of January so I could go to crutches. I'm always a good "student" in doing what I'm told, but gosh it sucks dealing with the pain!

Janice, I will be up in Louisville for the state fair. May be doing some volunteer work, but I'm not for sure just yet. I'll let you know when it comes closer to time. :)

Jessica, I'll be thinking about you. Surgery is no fun, but if it alleviates the pain then it will be worth it in the long run.

Wilma - I hope that I can make it down there. Which reminds me, we need to have a pickin session sometime soon with the boys!

Samantha & Donna - thank you for the well wishes. I really appreciate it.

The house is finally cleaned as much as it can be. I have a load of laundry that needs to be folded, but hubby is gonna take care of that for me. I have a job interview in the morning (yep, I went ahead and said yes to an interview since the pay and location and benefits are reallllly good) and then the surgery is in the early afternoon. I'll probably won't get online until a few days and even then it will be hunt and peck. Will try to post as soon as I can. :)

Not with your elbow, you don't!!!!! Get some rest now, tonight, you, and don't be up all night on this new fangled internet. Especially with a job interview tomorrow morning--you try to cram it all in, don't ya! Well, I think you might just deserve a pie. I might have to hand deliver it myself!!!

Take Care Jessica - hope you have a very speedy recovery and most importantly - hope you are out of discomfort after the surgery. It hurts something awful when I hit my funny bone so I can only imagine how that would be if it felt like that all the time - OUCH!

Enjoy some down time, get lots of great ideas from your MJF magazines so you'll be ready to create when you feel like it! Here's hoping you'll feel better real soon! Cathy

Today has been a day of rest and spending time with my momma. I got a beautiful bouquet of flowers from some of our friends today. I will have hubby to take a photo for me. Still very sore and swelled in arm. Cannot wait to get back to "normal" things...typing one handed is hard!!!

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Yesterday was an up and down day. Phone rang off the hook...thank goodness for my hubby. Got a surprise visit from a friend and now two beautiful bouquets of flowers. We had to change the dressing and I got light headed and sick to my stomach but hubby was there as a good nurse. Got it cleaned up and changed. Swelling has went down a tiny bit and I am able to move all fingers. WOOHOO! Still very slow and painful to move elbow. Not rushing that but I don't want to build up scar tissue in it again.

Thanks for the uplifting cards, emails, and prayers. I really appreciate them and they help put a smile on my face.

Jess - You are very wise to keep moving your elbow. You are so right about scar tissue buildup. Take care of yourself.

Thanks guys for the well wishes. I have received two beautiful bouquets of flowers and then some flowers for the outside from dear friends. My mom and nephews stopped by yesterday and spent time with me. Mom went to the grocery store with them here in town before they came and said they saw this pretty flowering vine and went "sissy would like this, it will help her feel better" and put it in the buggy. When they came, they were both holding the vine and it was so pretty. They helped my mom plant it in my garden too. They are always too sweet.

My elbow is improving and hubby is being a good nurse. Tomorrow will be the first day by myself. My neighbors have seen me outside and said if I needed anything to holler. Out little culdesac is so sweet to us.

I do have to keep ice on my arm or it starts to get hot or burn. Gonna call the doc to see what that is about. I'm having a hard time sleeping when I lay on my back because it hurts in the joint when I try to move even with pillows, so I pretty much have to lay on my right side with a mini-Wilma pillow under the arm to hold my arm up. If it wasn't for my smaller Wilma pillow, I don't know what I would do for comfort!! It's like Goldilocks and the three bears...it is just right! haha

It has been awfully quiet here in the house, but the neighbors have been mowing the yard. Swelling in fingers have went down a lot and I can type with both hands very carefully.

However, I do have the burning sensation around the joint and stitches. Called the dr's office and he is suppose to call back. I don't have a fever, so that's good. Nothing is runny around the stitches and I'm really good at keeping the dressing changed and clean. Anyone ever experience this with surgery?
