I went to the thrift this morning. First time in more then a week. That might be a record. But I have been on a big clean out around here so I'm trying to be good. Also took a picture of some of my spoon collection. Wanted to mention that the cherry dessert that I made yesterday and I took a picture of, is very very good. NANCY JO

Love the spoon collection, Nancy Jo. I actually saw a whole set of large old spoons at an estate sale a few weeks ago. I could have picked them up for you!
Have you ever seen spoons that have the same name engraved on them with successive dates? I got my grandmothers old silver last fall (she's still alive, but in poor health and can't live at home anymore). I noticed that there are five or six teaspoons with her name and the year engraved on them. Did people used to build a set for a little girl by giving her one spoon for each birthday? I've never heard of it before. |

Didn't they make a movie of Mrs. Miniver, or maybe a series on PBS? Either way, I'm not sure what she's all about. Let us know, Nancy Jo. I sure love all those spoons...how did Richard find the baby spoon you mentioned in the blog?
Oh! Janice and I had the best time thrifting on Saturday, and thought about you a lot. We didn't find any of the pfaltzgraff pieces though we did find some "knock offs". We both ended up with great new finds--Janice got a commercial sized lard cannister (lid and handles intact) for $10.00. The graphics were great...and turns out, the paint company "Glidden" also at one time dealt in lard...mmmmmm......

How nice that I cross your mind while you are out shopping! Isn't it funny how we think about each other with out ever meeting? Miss Wilma, are you going to freeze the cheeries? Or don't they last that long? Jonnie, how nice that you have so many engraved spoons. That is a good idea for giving a gift even now. NANCY JO

It is...we both said, "now which color of the Pfaltzgraff stuff is Nancy Jo looking for?" and then we talked about how lucky you are to have such great thrifts near you...but I honestly think Louisville has some, too, Nancy Jo! You'll have to come some time! The ones here at home, near Cincy just aren't very good at all and are priced up so much that it's sometimes cheaper to go to Kohl's and buy something new. That's pretty silly!

Hey Nancy Jo, I can't believe you haven't been to the thrift in almost week, are you alright? HeHe. I've been 3 times within the last week and you wouldn't believe the things I found. Your gonna have to catch up with me. Did you have that cherry recipe on your site, I love cherries. My cherry trees only bloom they don't produce fruit. See you at the thrift, RoseMarie
