Hi everyone
Wannabe farmgirl here! Myself and DH are currently living in London in the UK, but moving back to my home country of New Zealand to buy a smallholding of some sort. We have our flat on the market, so as soon as that is sold we are off! For now we are trying to learn as much as we can about organic gardening, fruit growing, keeping chickens, solar power, and loads of other self-sufficient/eco-living things. I love reading other people’s farming/gardening/self-sufficiency stories, and am really inspired by these, they keep me motivated to achieve my dream of owning a smallholding!
I have created my own website with a whole lot of ideas on it – as with all websites, it is a “work in progress” as they say. Anyone is free to sign my guestbook! The web address is on my profile.
Looking forward to sharing ideas and thoughts, and learning lots!
Debs

Welcome Debs! Can't wait to hear more about your new place in New Zealand. Do you have a place picked out or still looking? I went to your website but didn't have time to look at all of it - lots of good information though! Welcome again to the forum - you'll love it here!

Thanks for the warm welcomes. We have been looking on NZ property websites at potential properties but can't really look at anything until we get there! Once we are back there and do find a place I am hoping we will have learnt enough to manage without making TOO many mistakes, but one can only learn from mistakes, so there needs to be a few of those!

Welcome Debs! How exciting to be on this new adventure! Hope all goes well for you. I look forward to checking out your website. Have a cup of tea for me, as good tea is hard to find on this side of the big pond. Simply, Julia

Hi all
I'm joining Helen's "downunder" chapter in advance! I am really glad to have found this forum. I have already joined the mail art list!! I have just put some photos onto Yahoo, and you are all invited to visit me (virtually!) at my "home for now". There are also photos of "farms nearby" (I live on the border of London and Kent which is semi-rural), "UK wildlife" and some holiday photos!

Some of the photos are a bit blurry due to poor light!

Oh, and Julia - I only drink herbal tea so hope that's OK!

I like the kitchen photo. Our first house had a window like that with the bench the same, our stove was to the right of the window. I couldn't think of a good way to update it. Your kitchen would have been perfect for it.

There is lots of fog where I live, thankfully it is over for the moment.
