Did you just LOVE the pictures of the breezy outfit on pg. 91 of the latest magazine?! I can't wait to get the July copy with the pattern. I wonder how much linen it would take to make? (planning a thrift shop raid) Too cute. The perfect thing for hot July days on the porch.

I adore those! I was trying to redesign my capri pattern to make something similar. I would love them for the garden. I have some lovely vintage lace with this project written all over it.

Amy, page 80 says "be a beguiling Jane! with paragraph next to drawing of cute top and bottom underclothes...in the paragraph which is about the next issue, it says... "we'll be sharing...irresistable petticoat pattern..." i can't wait. lucky girl Debi! to have tried them on already!

And here I thought the pattern would be in girls sizes only. Now I'm even more excited.

I cannot wait. Petticoats are so sweet and make your skirts look extra special. I'm not really a petticoat kind of girl, but there is always room for change. :)

I bought my linen and some cute lace for the cuff at the bottom! OH no, are these just meant to be undies? They do look so pretty with the apron. I thought they were more like capri's meet romance. Well, I love the look and will make them and decide what to do after. :) I may traipse through the fields in my underclothes. :)

Michelle - I think they would be fine on their own, particulary in linen. It's all in how you wear it!! |

Well, wearing them with a grin will make the style perfect about anywhere, don't you all think? Is it silly to do a countdown? One month to go...I better get the apron done so I'll be ready to tackle the petticoats. PJ variety and garden variety. :) What fun!

ok, I love buying sheets to use for my quilt backs, so I thought why not buy a simple white sheet and use it for the petticoat outfit, I would wash/dry & iron it first...hmmm, me thinks I may have to dig through my old sheets & experiment...but it will have to wait till mid July when my life is less hectic.

I agree with you, Michelle, about the petticoat making nice PJ's...that's what I was thinking. I'm not a petticoat kind of gal either, but I should wear something like this since when in skirts and dresses I am often known for squatting to see my baby chicks or playing on the ground with children or dogs. Wearing this adorable outfit will not only feel soooo ultra feminine, but will keep me modest as well! I think they are adorable with the apron, too, and it is sad to think of only wearing them covered up. What if you made them with patterned/colored fabric?? They could be garden/porch wear then, right?? Who would be the wiser??
I'm wondering if they would be nice in a light double knit with some stretch to it. That would be soft on the skin and able to be made snug and stretchable. I hope to alter the pattern to fit my 11 year old daughter. She needs something under her skirts, too, because she is too impulsive and playful like her Momma!
Dying for the July issue! Loved this newest one and carry it everywhere. Has everyone gotten the subscription??? Two years is quite a deal!

Hey all! I was thinking that making them out of a heavier cotton (not see thru) would allow them to be worn around the house and yard.

Michelle, I love the PJ Idea. I hadnt even thought of that. I inherited a beautiful brass bed and have been thinking about getting an battenburg type bedding - when I saw the petticoats, I thought how cute would they be hanging on a hook in that room... but LOVE the PJ thing, thanks for that.

I can't wait for the next issue of the magazine to. But I was also looking at patters the other day a found that companies like Simplicity have underwear patterns for civil war era costume that are just adorable. So if your looking for more style ideas check them out.

Another good spot for patterns of that sort is Folkwear - they have a website if you just google folkwear patterns you get it. They have some ethnic and some vintage ones. They have been around for years!! I think I remember my mom making me a cape for dressup from one of their patterns back in the 70's Amy Grace
