How do you get grease stains out of tablecloth? I used spray & wash & then put in washing machine. The stain is still there. I'm new at this but would like any advice. |

Try Dawn or Lestoil. I feel your pain - I posted about my grease woes in the Cleaning thread yesterday.

I've had very good results with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Even after being washed and dried, it is great to get out grease. Remember the Exxon Valdez in Alaska and all the oil soaked birds?? They used Dawn to clean them up and it's still in use for oil spills. |

I've always been able to "Shout" out most of my stains with great success. Normally I spray the stain before I wash the item, not sure if it will work on a stain that has been washed once already. Good luck on getting your tablecloth clean.
Are you staying warm up there Aunt Janet? It's a bit nippy down here today.

Thanks Miss Wilma. I came across some aluminum coasters from a Stanley Home Party the other day in a box here. Wonder how long since they've had the parties...or if they still do. I have steak knives mother got from them in the late 40's or early 50's. |

I have the table cloth soaking in Dawn soap so hope it comes out clean. It is cold up here, have the wood furnace going. Stealing wood from the cabin as we are out; used a lot of wood this winter. Ed, by Fall Creek had 5 inches of snow this morning. summer is never going to get here. |

Wash it in the hottest water for the fabric after it soaks, and if the stain is in one or two spots, rub a bit more Dawn into the fabric. I got a grocery bag full of very vintage linens with stains awhile back and was able to get most of them out with the Dawn treatment. I'd guess some of these had been sitting stained since the 60's or earlier. After I got them clean, I asked the family if they wanted them back (had belonged to the Grandma), but they didn't. I didn't want to give them up, but knowing they were family belongings, thought I should ask. Hope yours come out nicely! |
