I just got back from my jog/walk this morning. 2.5 miles in 30 minutes- and I even stopped to herd some chickens!

A business down the road (my turn around spot) has a huge flock of chickens out back and I guess someone left the gate open. 5 hens were running around loose so I set my dog to help herd them. We got them all back into their fence and shut the gate. Some were as far away as the next property and on the road so I didn't want any road killed chickens.

Anyway, the sun rose on our way back and it bathed us in this most beautiful light and warmth. It was wonderful and I am so glad that Nora went back to sleep long enough for me to take my run. Though I may have to get a quieter alarm clock as I think that is what is waking her up as well!

weighed today and the scale was down 3 lbs. so as long as it takes a downward trend I'm happy.

Just got back from the store. I bought some yummy salad fixings, some fresh dressing because since I can't remember buying what is in the fridge...

Anyhow...I have been doing really well. Nora was up all night last night not feeling well so no jogging for me today which is really sad because last night I was contemplating going for a run and didn't.

I have been measuring my food instead of just pouring a huge bowl of cereal and I have been telling husband "That's too much food!" when he fixes my plate for me. I know it's not much but it looks like I might have lost a pound or two! It's hard to tell with the non-digital scale that I have now (I'm still grumbly that Doug and Sky ruined my brand new nice digital scale a few months ago!) but it definitely is below 170! Hurrah! And... that was not a first thing in the morning weigh! Even better! Just know that I have turned the gaining weight trend around is making me so happy!

I've been doing really good! There are still cookies left from my buying trip on the 16th. And I haven't been the only one eating them. Every time I am hungry I go fix myself a big salad. It really fills me up between meal times.

I have been going out and getting my exercise as well. Woohoo! I am so excited to be getting healthier and more fit!

How is everyone else doing?

Getting outside more and working in the yard has kept me away from the refrigerator and consequently I have lost 3 pounds since we started this project. :) But, the best part is that I feel better. Now if I could get my ankle stronger, I could start walking on the road again. But, the dvd seems to be working, so I really cannot complain.
Alee- You are going to be the healthiest farmgirl eating all of those salads!

Whoo Hoo! I just got back from my morning exercise! It was beautiful! Sky got to chase some birds and pine cones, the sky was beautiful. It was a bit chilly and I didn't take a jacket- all the more inspiration to run to warm up.

I am seeing more and more people out and about in the morning. Two ladies were walking behind me and Sky during our home stretch and then I saw another gal walking to work or school. It's so beautiful! There are a lot of chirpy birds out there! I feel so good!

I too am losing weight. I know I have lost at least two pounds, maybe more *hard to read the scale*

You know how when you put on a pair of jean you have to do the Shimmy-Shake to get them settled on your hips/waist and to make sure enough fabric was pulled over your hinny? Yesterday I didn't have to when I put on my jeans! They slid right on just perfect! It was so great! I can't wait till they get a bit loose! I think I am going to wait till they are absolutely just falling off my hips to go jeans shopping again. That way when I am down a complete size and still comfortable I will be encouraged! :d

Tamara- I know what you mean. I have been eating really healthy the last few months and got suckered in by fast food a few time recently when I had a full day of errands to to. ugh. Oh I felt so sick afterwards. That if anything else will keep me away from those places.

I did my jog again today. I am getting to the point where I can jog for about half of the round trip all told. And- this might sound funny- but the trip is seeming shorter :D I can get 2.5 miles done in 30 minutes. Next week I am going to extend the run a bit more. I feel so great when I get out there. It's the best way to start the day. I still feel sluggish when I wake up and sometimes it is hard to force myself to get the running shoes on and actually hit the road. But as soon as I start jogging, I am smiling and it is so worth it! It's beautiful to see the sun rise every morning!

I am of course drinking lots of water. I had Wheaties for breakfast with skim milk, then for a snack I had a spinach/iceburg salad with some ranch dressing (2 bowlfuls!)

Check out www.calorie-count.com It's a free calorie counting service that is really great! You input things like your age, height, weight then each day you can log what you eat/drink and the activities you do. It also figures out your healthy target weight. It tells you when to expect to reach your target based on healthy weight loss and your weight loss trend. It also estimates how many calories you have burned each day just by living then adds in the calories you burn by exercising. So you can see if you are hitting your "burn" goals for the day and make sure you are eating enough/too much. I have noticed that I tend to actually not eat enough! So I am trying to make sure I am eating more healthy snacks and then I don't feel too bad if I am craving that last snack before bed. It's also helping me to re-arrange my eating so I am more full through the day an not eating as late into the night.

Welcome, Sherri!!

I did my jog thing again today! I am pretty worn out from all the moving/job search etch that has been going on. I am going to shoot to be in bed at 8:30 tonight since I get up at 5am. Gosh- I can't even imagine what it will feel like to get a full night's rest! LOL

I am really glad I got it done though as it is starting to spit rain again. I got to see a beautiful sunrise on a rainy day :D How cool is that? Also I have been a cleaning/packing demon today which is supposed to burn some calories :D

Hi girls, can I join in here too? My weight loss goal, a measly 11 pounds. But I know from experience that it doesn't come off me easily.

I picked 11 instead of 10, because I just got back under 150 and I want to be under 140!

I've sworn off all fried food and high fructose corn syrup (which is in just about everything these days) and started making a lot of food myself. My biggest problem is being inconsistent with my workouts. Alee it sounds like you're really doing great with that by the way!

Don't anybody kick yourself if you fall off the wagon for a day or two. Somebody said to me the other day, if you don't brush your teeth one night before you go to bed, are you going to quit brushing your teeth forever? No, you're going to brush them the next day. Same thing with eating healthy. I thought that was kinda good.

Went to my first WW meeting tonight - boy did I hate to get on that scale! The highest it's ever been! But, now it should be easier from now on - if I stick to business. I've done WW before and had good luck, it's just a hassle to drive there but I'm going with a friend so that should help. I"ll keep you updated on my progress. Til next week..........

I have been feeling pretty worn down lately and have noticed my hunger skyrocket because I am trying to keep my energy up on not enough sleep. So I went ahead and went back to bed this morning. I got a good 8.5 hours of deep sleep. Tonight I am going to go to bed between 8:30 and 9pm so I can get another good night in. I can already feel my energy coming back again though. Of course because I took the morning "off" I didn't go jogging. I will have to make sure I get in other forms of exercise.

Alee it's good to rest once in a while.

Went for my 2 hour bike ride this morning - the pace was really slow, but it was still fun and lots of fresh air. Plus I went riding with ppl who actually know what they're doing, so I wasn't quite as afraid of traffic downtown. I wore my helmet for the first time in years. :D

Now I'm going to get on Sparkpeople and log my food and exercise, and then I'm off to the store to buy the healthy stuff I said I was going to eat this week. I love being able to buy a little of this, a little of that, but I end up wasting food. So now I am back to planning ahead, and planning well. Making only ONE trip to the store is much easier on the budget. And if I don't have any junk, I won't eat any junk.

How's everybody else doing?

Nintendo has out something called Wii Fit that looks interesting. I want it so badly because it has yoga and stuff on it. I also like to play Wii Sports, especially tennis and bowling. It does get you up and moving!

I got up and took my walk today. Much less jogging than normal, but just getting out of bed was a battle so I figured moving my hinney on the walk was very virtuous! LOL Then I promptly had a bad day of eating- but that's okay! It's only one day out of the year! LOL
