Missy and I went to the People's Food Co-op in Portland today. We found a few of MJF products and requested that they carry more. It was the neatest place! It was so nice to go in and know that everything that we bought was organic and we were supporting local farmers. There was a farmer's market going on outside (happens every Wed all year long) and we were able to buy lots of great veggies, herbs, and other stuff. It was well worth the drive. First time either of us have been to a co-op and we'll definitely be repeat customers.

I'm still hot...it just comes in flashes.

Kay, Oh that sounds wonderful! What a nice thing to do with a daughter! Lucky you that these co-ops are in your area!

Kay, I've wanted to check it out since I found it online but haven't had a chance. I will definitely make a point to go now! How far away from it are you? I'm probably 30 minutes or so.

Hi Julia, We're about 30 minutes too depending on traffic. It is definitely worth the drive and especially on Wednesday because the farmers are there selling produce. We should plan a Wednesday and meet there!

Robin -- would you be willing to share some information with me via email about how you started the coop? Missy and I were just talking today and saying what a need there is for one in Vancouver.

Anyone in the NW heard of Azure Standard? They are a company out of Durfur, Oregon. They have a catalog to order from, and then deliver it to you. You have to spend $400 to have it delivered to your home, so a bunch of friends and I order together and have it delivered to a friends home. They have everything! Organic and bulk. It is great! www.azurestandard.com

Julia, I just read the website and it said you only need to spend $40 to have it shipped by UPS. Do they personally deliver it if you spend $400? Thanks so much for the link. I ordered a catalog.

Kay, they do personally deliver if it is $4oo or more. That is why we all order together. Each personal order must be a minimum of $40 dollars to do the $400 order delivery. This way there is no other handling fee. I always put my order in with a friend to ensure we hit the $40 mark, which we always do, and then ours and others orders are shipped to a friends house and we go and pick it up from her house. Going thru UPS there is a handling fee. Did that all make sense?

I just ordered a catalog also, wonder how many more of us will do the same?

life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and

I was part of a co op ordering group for years in Bremerton Washington and we ordered from Asure Standard all the time. It was a lot of fun and work dividing up the bulk bags and boxes of stuff but well worth the time and effort. The last time I wanted to order from them they told me they do not come to my area but I could drive 50 miles to another group and combine my order with theirs. I only did it once. To far. Now i would like to try again in my area. Our little town is right on highway 101 so it seems that it would be easy for them to deliver here. Guess I will call them.
