Yup the house we purchased this year as posted before used to be a school. It has large windows and has its original hard wood floors. It was built in 1920. The original sign for the school is upstairs. Very cool! Anyway We are considering naming our home. The school was called "Rocky Point School" the road we live on is called Calapooia. Anyway were not sure what to name our farm? We will be raising chickens. We get alot of wildlife. Anyway Any suggestions?

I would say,"ROCKY POINT FARM" THEN YOU COULD STILL USE THAT SCHOOL SIGN. NANCY JO

I would keep the sign as is, kinda like where learning and living come together, especially if you are into organics or the environment.
Cheers, Heather

Because the name Calapooia makes me laugh (a lot), I don't think I'd go with that. I like Nancy's idea of utilizing Rocky Point in the name, since that's what it's been known as for a long time. Rocky Point Ranch Rocky Point Farm Rocky Point Homestead
Something like that :)

Yeah, but CALAPOOIA sticks out doesn't it? Something like Calapooia Point or Calapooia Rock Farm? If you are going to market anything, it would grab the attention of passersby. Yes, I'd be part of the funkier bunch of us all. ;) Heehee, that reminds me of something... Once, when my husband and I were traveling through North Carolina, we crossed over a river called "Nottaway". I started giggling. (it was a long trip and I get like that). Anyway, I said to him..."You know how most rivers are named with the Native American name for them, if Angelisized version?" He goes..Well, yeah? Then why is this one named Nottoway?" I said, "Because when the English came here and asked if the river led to riches, the chief said " Not a way!"

You know, I just like the name "Rocky Point." I lived in a house called "Quail Crossing" during most of middle school and high school, and I just loved it. It was in the city, but on a couple of acres in the middle of a block. I really like named houses and farms...
I agree - now that I even KNOW the word Calapooia, I can't stop thinking about it, however!
XOXO, Libbie

That's just such a great house, Mary!!! And that old sign is WAY cool! Maybe you could utilize the district number is someway...
All of the houses I lived in over in England had names, even the smallest thatched roof cottage. The last house I lived in was Trehane Farm, and before that, it was Dovecoat cottage.

I'm glad you kept the original name in there; and you've made that old schoolhouse into a beautiful home!

Yep, aside from it being "The little red schoolhouse" I'm glad you kept the name. It's a charming place!

I love the windows, they are to die for and the house is beautiful inside and out. Glad you kept Rocky Point in the name.
