| I would be interested in hearing where everyone is from. What I mean is where were you born and where did you end up? I started my life in Alliance, NE and now live in Pasco, WA. I went to 16 schools in 12 years. Needless to say we moved a lot. |

I was born in Salt Lake and grew up in a suburb of SL all my life until I got married. My husband and I moved an hour and a half south of SL in a little town called Fairview. Oh, I lived in Oklahoma for a year and a half. I lived in Lawton, Moore, Stillwater and South OK City. One day my husband and I talked about moving to Wyoming and buying more property. He grew up in Oregon, so maybe we'll end up there too, who knows?

Mindy.. In salt Lake.. there is a Town called Jordan.. or probably West Jordan.. That has the most Adorable little old Village of Shops.. & in the fall around Halloween they are ALL decked out for the Holiday! & everyone comes dressed up as Witches!
Have you ever gone to that?
I was there working a couple years ago while it was going on.. & went! i had THE BEST TIME!!

Hi Betty!
I was born in Worland, Wyoming, moved to Powell, Wyoming for a year of college, then moved to Moscow, Idaho for more college and general life experience. We are in the process of packing up to move to Billings, Montana for "good" with a brief layover in Worland for the summer!

Welcome, Betty!
I was born in Fairfield, Iowa and have also loved in Bonaparte, Clinton, and Miles, Iowa. Blytheville, Arkansas then to Gallatin and Bethpage, Tennessee. Then, I moved to Bowling Green, Ky for college. After that, I got married and moved to Rockville, Indiana and now live in Carlisle, Indiana. If you include all my moves during college, I have moved a whopping 18 times, and I am not quite 28 yet! But I plan to stay in this house a long, long, time. Unless something exciting happens and we get the chance to move out west somewhere. But, since we farm now, relocation is much less likely.
Where all have you lived, at which ones were your favorite? |

I was born in New London, CT and raised for 18 years in Uncasville, CT. I have moved around a lot due to being in the military but my home is now and will be Texas.

My family moved us around so much because my father worked in construction of some of the dams here in the west. We started in Pickstown, SD; then to Umatilla, OR; next was Bridgeport, WA; on to The Dalles, OR; and finally my mother put her foot down and said no more after we moved to Burbank, WA.
I have two sons; one lives in Lancaster, CA and the other near me in Kennewick, WA.
I know where Worland, WY is and have been through it once or twice. Went to Thermopolis and the mineral springs too.
I think I mostly miss HOME, Alliance, NE. I was born there and that is where all of my relatives are. I don't have many out in this area.
My best friend ever was born in Cresco, IA and now lives in LaCrosse, WI after having lived in Portland, OR where I met her back in the 60's.
I've lived in Alliance, NE; Piqua, OH; Pickstown, SD; Umatilla, OR; Bridgeport, WA; The Dalles, OR; Burbank, WA; Norfolk, VA; Liverpool, NY; Tigard, OR; Longview, WA; and finally in Pasco, WA. Fortunately, my kids didn't have to make all the school transitions I did. It's hard being the New Kid.
Thanks for all your wonderful responses. |

heather..i love, love, love taos. it is hard to describe because it is a wonderful mix of native american, hispanic, artists, hippies from the sixties, art lovers, creative people, tourists, natives, outdoor lovers, etc cultures all mixed together in a small town..some people just do not get it and don't care for it..others think is is magical, spiritual, beautiful and really, really cool. i fall in the second category..oh and the food rocks! are there any farmgirls from taos on this forum?
also heather, our house there is an old adobe. the original part was built in 1680..how cool is that..the other rooms were just kinda wacked on a bit later. we rent it out for short vacation stays when we are not there..if you are ever interested..let me know and i will send you info...

I was born and raised in So Calif. married and left in 1977 to Phoenix, which was a small town after living in LA county for 7 years.
Then after Midwifery school and 4 kids moved to western KY (Madisonville). Lived in Ashland TN off grid for 6 months...
Moved back to Phoenix after the demise of the marriage. Lived there for another 4 years, I had my last belly baby and when she was 5 months old we moved to SLC UT to reconcile with ex. That lasted almost a year and after 10 years of living single, I remarried.
We just celebrated our 8th anniversary. We are foster adopt parents. We have 6 final and hope to have 4 more this summer final.
We will then move to Idaho if all goes as planned...we have not found a place here in UT. Almost moved out to Fairview Mindy..love it out there!
Kathie in FL, it is called "Gardner Village". It is one of my favorite places to shop!

Kathie,
I know the place you are talking about in West Jordan, UT. It's called Gardner Historic Village. I absolutely love this place. The witch festival is delightful. They also go all out for Christmas. i'm sooo glad that you got to see it. Check out their website at www.gardnervillage.com.
Btw, I was born in Provo, Ut, moved 22 times before the 6th grade (Dad worked construction), settled in Lyman, WY, married my high school sweetheart and moved to his family ranch in Fort Bridger, WY. Lived there for 14 years. Relocated 30 miles west to Evanston, WY and here I sit. :o}

I'm new here. I grew up all around Nov Scotia. We lived in 8 places by the time I was 9 years old and settled down. My Dad was in Federal Law Enforcement and got transferred a lot at first. We later settled living on the outskirts of a commune. I use that term lightly b/c it was a semi communal community but not a true commune like the Farm in Tennesee.
I'm still living in Nova Scotia about 2 hours from where I grew up. My parents are no longer there and 'm about an hour from them now. We're in the community my husband grew up in and I really like it especally not that we have a large piece of land and are working on our homestead.

OOOOHHHH!! I love adobe houses!! How nice!!! I read alot about the artist Georgia O'keefe and I know she lived around Taos and when I saw pictures of her little house, I was in heaven!!! I would just add a little garden, a hammock, a nice pool to swim in and I would be all set.
Cheers, Heather

I was raised in Plymouth, MN, which is where I work now. When I married ex #1, we moved to New Hope, MN for 9 months, then later to Delano,MN for nine months. When I left him, I moved my son and myself back home with Mom and Dad in Plymouth and stayed there for two and a half years. Then I met ex number two, and we moved to the blink-you'll-miss-it town, called Waverly, MN -in to his family's old farmhouse-his Grandma lived in a tiny trailer 25 yds away. We would help her maintain the property, and she walked the dog for us while we were working. She was a funny little lady with the prettiest blue eyes. My view in the morning was 100+ acres of farmland. I loved it. We stayed there about two years and bought what is my current home in Delano, MN. I don't plan on ever leaving the Delano area, I LOVE it.

Hi Betty J. I was born in Arnprior, Ontario Canada. It is (or was) a very small town. We lived in a huge log home on a lake until I was almost 6. Then we moved here to New York. I have lived the rest of my life in a 3 different towns here in Western NY.All within about 25 miles of here. I have lived here in our present home for the last 33 years but owned the land for almost 40.I love where I was born,it will always be ingrained in me,it is why I love the country and nature so much, but, my heart belongs to New York!! I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

Hi Betty, I was born in England and grew up on the border of England & Wales. When I was 13, we moved to a big town called Northampton, which is about 60 miles north of London. When I was 20, I met my husband (an American GI) at a Bon Jovi/Metallica concert in the UK. We married 3 weeks later. A month later I left the UK and spent a month with his family in Rochester, NY and then he and I moved to Dover, DE where he was stationed for 18 months. After that we came back to western NY and now live in Avon which is about 25 miles south of Rochester, which is on the southern shore of Lake Ontario. Angie.

Hi Betty j, and welcome aboard. I was born in Bangor, maine. We lived in a small town on the coast of maine the first few years, from second through seventh grade i attended a ranch boarding school in Arizona. i wanted to be a cowboy when i grew up, it just didn't work out...We moved back east when i was twelve, where I attended a really horrible boarding school in east Vassalboro Maine. it no longer exists. The next year my parents moved to Newburyport, Massachusetts and i attended high school there, but we always spent our summers in Maine. After a couple of years at at art school in Boston, I moved back to maine. There is something very soothing about life in a small town, and i feel a deep attachment to the ocean and the land in maine.....Karin

| I was born in Cape May, New Jersey and lived in South Jersey for many years until moving up here in 2003. This is by far our most favorite place as we have Amish families for our neighbors! I love driving up and down the hills and driving (literally) thru mountains. Walking and riding a bicycle are a little different story for me. I can really glide down them on my bike but peddling back up is too much for these arthritic bones and fibromyalgia tender points! Susan |

I was born and raised on the central coast of Calif..but we did move around a bit in that area, and one year in Sacramento and almost 2 years in Teton County Idaho. We did stay put from the time I was in 6th grade until my first marriage (too young for sure) so I lived in one house for 7 years. Then...the moving really started!! We lived in Northern Minnesota twice and back to Calif in between too..and then McCall Idaho and back to Calif...lots of houses in the area in cAlif we lived in too. Then after that I got divorced and stayed in that area and then remarried 12 years ago...we moved here to the middle of Utah 6 years ago..this house is the second longest I have lived in any house in my life and I hope to never ever move. I love this little town and want to raise my four youngest kids right here. Betty...I have relatives in Lancaster, CA, Kathie...I knew you were talking about Gardner village too, although I havn't been there..maybe this year! And Laura~!! We have alot in common...5 of my 7 kids are adopted...all from the foster care system..all are final now and I THINK we are done. I never say for sure..but I am 49 so I think we are. It would be fun to meet you if you come down this way ever...I am in Manti. It is fun seeing where everyone is from.

Hi Betty and welcome. I was born and raised in the little town of Galway in upstate New York. I met and married my sweetheart who was in the military. So of course i left "home" and moved to Honolulu. We lived there for 3 years, moved to Norfolk, Virginia. We were there for 6 years and when my husband left the military we moved here to NJ for work. We did move to Florida, near where Kathie is for 18 months and then to western Pennsylvania for 8 months near the town where my husband was raised. Oddly enough my husband was born in NJ but they moved back to Pa. when he was a baby. Finally made our way back here in 2000 and in 2001 bought the home we are in now. I love living in the country. There is still some left here in NJ but for how long we don't know. They are trying to do away with the dept of agriculture here in the "Garden State". I enjoy hearing where everyone has been born and raised. My heart will always be in NY though.

I was born in Tennessee, but I wasn't there long. My parents moved there a short time before I was born and then moved back to Louisiana shortly AFTER I was born ( I think I was only there for three months or so, if even that long). Anyway, I have lived in Sulphur Louisiana my entire life, grew up on ten acres out in the country ( Where my mom and dad nad younger brother still live : ) Then when I was 19 I moved to Dallas TX for about 9 months and moved right back down here to Sulphur and NOw I'm here to stay!!! I was so insistant on my daughter being born in Louisiana that my husband and I moved back from Dallas about three weeks before I had her! I love my home sweet home! I just can't stand being away from my "peeps"!
