Linda- This is Karen (your penpal, Beverly's daughter). I am so very sorry and just stunned to hear of your cancer. Especially, as you know, since Mom is going through much the same at the same time. Your prayer shawl is so very beautiful. I wanted you to know that she will be taking it to the hospital with her next Thursday when she undergoes her surgery. They will be removing the bottom half of her lung as it stands now. She still doesn't yet know if there is a malignancy, and will only know once the surgery is performed. We are praying and waiting to see what we are facing. I am hoping your recovery is going well and that you are not in pain. You have been in our thoughts and prayers constantly. Sending you much love and well wishes- Mom will be in touch soon- Karen |

Just am update on my lung issue. Tomorrow I meet with the Oncologist who will be treating me with the radiation. On the 10th I meet with the Oncologist who will teat me with the chemo-therapy. Am I looking forward to this??? NO!!! I saw what it did to my daughter. I remember what the radiation did to me but, I will go through it all and I will praying every step of the way that it will be worth all the misery. Thanks to you ladies who have prayed for me and sent me cards. I can tell you prayers do work.
Remember to pray for Karen's (pollyesther) Mom. She is a lovely lady who is going through the same thing I did. Her name is Bev.
Love to all, Linda (a-rose)

Linda, I am praying for you right now.
I went through serious amount of full pelvic radiation. It is not fun, very tiring and hard to bear. However, we are resilient and strong beings. We can go through so much and come out better than before with time and rest to regain our strength.
Let me just offer you hope and prayer that it works for you. I saw a few women with lung cancer being treated with chemo and radiation at Sloan in NJ facility, and they said they felt better on treatment than before starting. I also know of one lung cancer survivor personally, our neighbor. Anything is possible and all paths to healing and wholeness are open for you.

Well Farmgirl friends my first chemo session was today. I spent 5 hours hooked up to an IV and received oodles of meds. The big thing now is nausea and vomiting. The nurse was kind enough to tell me I would start losing my hair in about 10 days. Wouldn't you know I let my hair get to shoulder length just to please my hubby. I've grown to like it long and now it's all going to fall out. Please keep my DH in your prayers. He is not used to being domestic and keeper of the household and he is under stress constantly, I feel so bad for him. Thanks to all you farmgirls for your prayers and support. Linda (a rose)

Linda, I hope you are not too sick from the chemo. I know it can be very rough on you. But, I also know that when it works it is worth every minute of it. Your husband I am sure is very worried about you, sometimes they are not very domestic are they!! He will manage though,it will just take some getting used to. Once you are well, he can be spoied again!

You go girl and I will be praying for you along with everyone else! This will all be worth it when you are well again and the cancer is GONE! Think positively even when it's hard...it's so important...that old "fake it til you make it" theory. I know it must be awfully difficult and I can't pretend to know what you're going through...maybe I wouldn't be as brave as you. Hugz and love ya...keep in touch when you feel better...see you made it through Round #1..Yea...Yippee!
