I'd be glad to!!!!

There are still so many roads and rambles in Kentucky that I've not been on--what better way than to have a group of gals to ramble with!

Luna (and all...) Here is Sarah and Phil's b&b...a couple of different links as they belong to several b & b associations, rural holiday listings, etc...

http://www.enjoyengland.com/stay/ProductDetail.aspx?Pid=91691&sav=b|

http://www.cornwall-online.co.uk/trehane/

Sarah also belongs to a collective that a "wealthier" farmer's wife put together...she has a shop on a (somewhat) main road where she has taken handmade goods (handknit sweaters, felt crafts, beeswax candles) all made by the local farmers wives and sells them to holiday travelers. Sarah was an art student, who majored in textiles, and she felted sweaters and things for sale. A little bit of extra income :)

Jonni, Miss Wilma and Luna, You all have me SO excited! There's nothing I love more than road trips and rambles!
I'm not sure when I could reasonably do this as I'm just starting to contract out as an Assistant and I'm gearing up for my daughters graduation, BUT I want to keep talking about it beacause it would be an incredible trip!
Who knows, maybe I can be a test dummy for everyone! LOL! I'm game.

I love the idea, Linda...and Kentucky's not going anywhere--maybe by the time we do this, Luna's goals will be realized. Wow, what a great concept!!!

Hey, what are farmgirl for if not to help each other with their hopes, dreams and ideas?

It would be a hoot!

So what time of year do you KY gals feel would be the best to visit?

If that's the consensus then may be we plan for next spring! I'm suppose to be moving to Chicago then, so maybe I make sure that on my drive across country, I stop in KY on the way! OK, I have to look at a map but hell, I don't mind a detour. It would be such an adventure and surely something incredible to look forward to.

Hey! I just looked at a map and it's only 7 hours-ish from Chicago to Nob Lick, KY! I can drop my stuff in Chicago and shoot out to you or actually I can come any time after I move! WooHoo! That's just a short day trip girls!

Your exactly 6 hours from Northern Kentucky, Linda, if in Chicago...(what fun!)...if you swing down 74, you can stop off for gas in Florence and we'll ride together :)

Nex Spring would be super wonderful...I love having things to look forward to!

Hey y'll! I've been away for a couple of days and you got a road trip planned! sounds good to me. Linda whenever you want to, plan a stop down here too. Meantime, I like Miss Wilma's idea to do an around Kentucky ramble. Maybe in late spring. Thoughts?

Hi Luna, yep we're shooting for next spring. That gives us some time to get our ducks in a row and do some planning ahead. Does that work for you? I'll be in Chicago by then and it's a hop, skip and a jump to KY from there. I can pick up Jonni on the way and anyone else that'll fit in the car for that matter and we're off!

Sounds real good Linda...next spring is a long time away and by then my place should be a showplace, ha! Being the spontaneous, impetuous person that I am I will probably do some rambling around the state and surrounding hills this spring and summer. Any place I can get to and back in a day (or two!)....

This would be a hoot of a time. (I think my word of the day is hoot because I've said it so many times. haha) I can show you guys some of the top spots around in central Kentucky that you won't find anywhere else and don't hear much about. ;-)

honey hunk and i travel quite a bit .. and i'm surprized .. but no longer 'shocked' at the prices of hotels, motels, B&B's, inns, cabins, etc. etc. to spend a night! our room in Key West, Florida (at the Southernmost House in the Continental USA .. was $750. a night .. but we got it for HALF-PRICE .. cuz' it was late in the day and i guess they figured 'some money' was better than 'no' money. Funny, that we thought it was actually a 'good deal' because even the Hampton Inn .. which was NOT on the water was over $400. per night! We were within steps out the door into the Ocean! It was lovely, and worth every penny! Check out time was at noon the next morning .. but they didn't mind us keeping our car in their tiny lot all day .. and it is VERY hard to find parking spaces in Key West! .. and they didn't minid that we hung out in the beautiful lobby and poolside all day either. A 'forever memory' with it's loveliness and gentle spirit and antique-filled rooms. NOW .. this is NOT to say that i would want to .. or be willing to .. spend that much EVERY night on EVERY trip .. HA! i've stayed in a SEVENTEEN dollar a night LITERALLY 'flea bag' in eastern kentucky .. where i slept on 1/8th of the edge of the bed .. wouldn't even go INTO the shower! (it was after midnight when i found it .. and nothing else was available and i was too tired to keep travelling .. i was by myself .. and did have to LAUGH OUT LOUD at the woman in the room next to me who was having a 'religious experience' all night long!!!!! But even THAT was a fun 'memory' .. HA! now that it is OVER .. and i LIVED and didn't get lice! (I WILL sleep in the back of my van the next time i find myself 'stranded' .. i would have that night except it was COLD and i didn't have a blanket! (i now have blankets and pillows PERMANENTLY in my car .. jus' in case.

A nasty 'chain' hotel cost us over $200 per night at the mouth of the Keys!!!

It seems that the best memories come from the places we've stayed where we had to dig deep into our pockets .. but the 'amenities' are so lovely. B&B's are usually my first choice .. or beautiful 'inns'.

But chillun .. ya'll sure are welcome to come stay for FREE here in our 'stranger room' at Freedom Valley Farm in the hollers of Kentucky!

And a lovely room it is Miz Frannie! I had to laugh, I spent a night like that in New Orleans a few years ago and I paid a lot of money but it was right in the French Quarter and could walk to everything. But it was kinda scarrry!! I peaked in the room next door and I SWEAR you had to walk sideways around the bed! No more room.

I'm so glad you got an opportunity to check it out! It's really wonderful--wild and wonderful. The house was built around 1730 and originally had an inner passway to the barn, so that you didn't have to face the coastal elements when tending to them. Now Sarah and Phil and the girls reside in the former stable area, sleeping in the loft, and the original family quarters have been "upped" for b & b standards. I love it there...Absolutely love it. It's really no frills, regardless of how "romantic" the home looks :)
