I just realized the month changed. Snuck up on me! This means I can start my tomatoes and beans and melons and everything else because I'll be able to use the greenhouse in a month which is when they'll be ready for it. Woohooo! Its spring its spring its spring its spring!!!

Coming in like a lion here! Very wintery day, windy and snowing. But I am glad to see the month change!

Our first day of March came in sunny and warm! Snow coming on Tuesday, but today was 62, and tomorrow will be 69!!! I am so excited. I opened up the house and aired it out, I trimmed back the dead on my flowers, I cleaned up my raised garden beds so they are ready for my starts in 45 days. While I worked, the dogs lounged on our deck, sunbathing away. Ahhhh... the smell of dirt! |

It was warm here today..got over 50!! BUT...rain coming in..it got really cloudy by 4:30 and should be pouring any time. Maybe that will melt the snow though...not all bad. Our driveway is a mud bog now as it is..ugh!! I can hardly wait to plant stuff outside..it will be quite some time here..not really safe for most things until after mother's day! But...I will be starting my tomatoes and peppers right away. I dream of a greenhouse some day!!!

March came in like a lamb this year, temps near 50 and the rain has stopped for a bit (yay!). Today it's supposed to get near 60 and we bought more seeds yesterday. I don't think we'll start anything inside until near the end of March. Last year we started too early and had some late snows and frosts. We kept the plant starts inside and it started to smell a bit. I enjoy the smell of soil outside, but not in the house.

I'm starting my tomatoes seeds too! We got a brief glimpse of spring today here in the Chicago area, 53! Winter does return after this, but I've got spring in my house (Easter decorations are up) and in my spirit. Here's to finally get some dirt in my nails!
