HOORAY!!! I, of course, am partial to Anne's story as I fo live on her beautiful Island. As for a name, the MJF Anne of Green Gables book club is kind of nice too. I thought that after we read the first book, then we could take turns picking titles. The one thing that I thought also was that maybe we should stick to books that can be picked up at libraries to keep costs down for people. Oh, this will be so much fun!!

Mel, You have good thoughts. Taking turns picking a title is fun. I think that Library book availability is a fine criteria for what books we will pick from. Keep up the good work! I am looking forward to this greatly. I am going to tell my Mum as she is a Anne fan (i guess that should be "fanne", spelled with an "e"!) and hope she joins in the fun. cheers, karen

Hey Melanie, is there room for one more!!! I have never(shame shame) read Anne of Green Gables! So, I'm in too please! (I am hearing a lot about Eat, Love, Pray, so maybe we could keep that one on the 'list'!) I will e-mail you with my 'particulars' (Hmmm, a trip to Borders maybe?)

I am sooo glad that this is all coming together! And yes, of course there is room for one more!! Do not be ashamed for not reading Anne. I am from Canada and I only just read it a few years ago, and not the whole thing! I am originally form Toronto, Ontario. I didn't read Anne until I moved to PEI as I thought that since I lived on Her Isalnd, I should at least read the book (and as I said, I haven't read it all....now is my chance!!)

For those of you that have already e-mailed me...thanks. I am just getting a list of names collected so that I can list them. For those of you that were wondering...we will be discussing the books here only. We won't have to e-mail anyone (unless of course we want to:))

I thik we have all agreed on reading the beautiful book Anne of Green Gables to celebrate Anne's 100 birthday. Let's start this on Monday so that will give people a chance to pick up the book. I have a list of questions that we can discuss. I will post them as we go along. The question that I have for all of you. How long do you want us to read this book. Of course different people read at different speeds, but perhaps we should have a general idea of when new questions should be posted and when the general discussion should happen. Hope this all makess sense. (I just woke up from having worked nights, love my job, not so fond of nights:() have a grreat day ladies!!

Great! I'm glad to see that this is working out :) I look forward to reading Anne of Green Gables again, one of my favorites! I don't have any suggestions on a time frame, I'm a pretty fast reader but I know others go at a slower pace or sometimes things happen in life that slow us down so I'm open to whatever you ladies decide. Maybe we could also use this thread to throw out ideas for books others would like to read in the future.

Yay! I will go get the book at the library today. I too am a pretty fast reader, but have a habit of reading several at a time so that sometimes slows me down. I am okay with whatever the group decides for a reading pace... |

Are we going to have a 'deadline' to read the books by, or just wait until everyone is done? (Just curious) Angie.

I think we are still trying to figure out a reading schedule. I thought maybe a chapter a day - seems like a decent compromise for slow and fast readers. There are 38 chapters so it would take us a little over a month, but I know we are all busy gals. Any thoughts? |

One to two chapters a day works for me. I seem to have lots to read and do all at the sametime now a days. But idle hands lead to mischief. ;)

A chapter or two a day would be perfect - goodness, we could work our way through all eight Anne books!

Well Happy Monday everyone I have a few more names to add to the list..... LAURA H KATHY (enchantedwoods girl) LINDA H
Now as for starting today, it looks like there are a few that don't have the book yet....When should we start? I am ready to go whenever. Should we start and let people "catch up"? Also, if more people want to join, do we let them join and they can catch up too? I am very flexable so, it doesn't matter to me:)

We could give everyone a few more days to find the book and start on Wednesday?! Have we decided on a reading pace/schedule?
