Was it in Asia? They seem to do a lot of "renting" of things, believe it or not--even dogs.

I read alot of fashion magazines and things and I actually HAVE seen this site. In a way I think it's cool, if you are into name brand stuff, because even if you can't afford it you can HAVE it...lol. I have never used it before but the only thing i could think of was if you wanted an expensive bag for a special even or something, but then again, really, it's just for show because it's not really yours so I guess it seems kinda vain. I just like dreaming about having a Gucci bag or a Prada purse...LOL I want to carry one when i can AFFORD my OWN..LOL There is also another site, where you can swap expensive clothes. It's like a higher class Ebay but you TRADE clothes with other people who have and want high brand stuff...sort of funny but who knows, maybe it's a rich womans way of being frugal. :)
Check out my latest projects and all the news from my chaotic little world!

No I wouldn't rent a purse for $75 bucks a week...if I wanted to spent that kind of money on a purse I'd save for one of my own
However, I love the ingenuity of whoever started it...alot of people probably laughed and told them it would never go over..I take great pleasure in seeing those people have success in these quirkly concepts...

Ok, I am still trying to process that they rent dogs? Don't the dogs get major confussed with "new owners" all the time. My mind cannot wrap around that one.
I wouldn't do it cause I would use that money and buy quilt stuff!!!!! Yep, my addiction. But I agree with Stephanie, somebody definitely had some ingenuity!!

About the purses, I don't have that kindof interest in "fashion" and $75.00 goes along way to my seed catalog orders :)
Carol Sue--I believe it was in Tokyo or another larger city where there are so many people, so many apartments and people who "want" a dog and love them, seek the companionship or whatever, but don't want the "responsibility" of a dog, will do a daily dog rental or something to that effect. Seemed weird to me, but then again, every now and again, I'd like to rent our Elie (garbage dog/all around messmaker) out for the day :)

If you google 'designer handbags for rent',you will come up with a few sites. I've heard of this before and one I know of is: www.bagborroworsteal.com. I don't belong but was intrigued by the idea. The prices for renting are high, and this would be for women who long to own designer handbags for a time at a fraction of the cost of owning. It's a status thang....

It makes sense to me. If men rent tuxedos for formal events, I can see how women might want to rent a certain purse for a special event. I think they are thinking of it as part of an outfit, not a tool you use to carry your stuff around. |
