what is your ONE most 'indispensible' kitchen tool or gadget?

i'd have to choose my milk 'frother' .. so that i can have 'whipped' milk in my coffee. (it actually works best with fat-free milk too!)

i have lots more that i like a lot .. but this makes morning coffee really special. (i also sprinkle a little cinnamon or shaved chocolate on top too!)

morning coffee with honey hunk each morning is a special time for us!

My old knife that belonged to my grandma. It has a wooden handle and rusts if I don't wash and dry it by hand quickly..but it fits my hand perfectly and I use it for everything. She had it from when she worked in "packing sheds" as a young mom.

I am all about the hand held blender! It's SO much easier than a regular blender..I mix shakes and smoothies right in the cup, put it right into the pot to blend soup, and I grind chick peas into hummus with it...yum!

jenny .. i love that you have your gram's knife. how do you sharpen it? i got a wonderful olde millstone knife sharpener for valentine's day (i picked it out .. kathy (sugarbucket) bought it and wrapped it and gave it to hank to give to me. lordy! i love having her as my 'personal buyer'). those olde knives do have the most wonderfully shaped handles and worn blades!

Hehe Frannie. Yes, sometimes I opt for the regular blender, too, when making smoothies

A really good wooden spoon. I have several that were handmade, and when I buy them, I spend time holding each one, making motions of stirring etc..until I find the right fit. There are some great Kentucky woodworkers out there who make wonderful spoons!!!

They're the best--after I wash them I always oil them and put them lovingly away. My favorite is a teaspoon (really long handle and petite bowl) that I bought at the Kentucky Guild show in the autumn. It's just sooo right for my little hands!

jonni .. are you going to the Kentucky Crafted show this year? i probably won't .. while i love the quality of the arts .. they mostly are just not primitive enough for me. IF i'm around and not hitting the road somewhere else .. i might wander over with some of the town gurlz though!

i wish kentucky had more 'primitive folk art' type shows .. i do find them in OHIO .. but so far have not found any 'only prim' ones in kentucky.

I adore my kitchen Aid as well. It was a wedding present and I couldn't be happier with it. I miss my food processor though.

A big ol' wire whisk...and the coffee pot of course.

I will sing at the top of my lungs, and I will dance even if I'm the only one...
