thought it might be fun to play this little game for awhile on the forum .. sooo .. here are the 'rooools' .. you have to ask: HAVE YOU EVER _________________________ (fill in the blank with something that YOU have done .. it has to be within the 'realm' of possibility .. not sooooooooo specialized that no one else has probably ever done it!) example:

HAVE YOU EVER worked for the U.S. Department of Justice, Criminal Division .. is NOT a fair question.

this type of question WOULD be .. and is my opening question .. after you ASK the question .. you have to tell a short story of when/how/who you did it. and everyone who answers YES .. has to give their story too:

o.k. .. here's the first question .. ohhh .. and ANYONE can jump in with a question at any time!!!

HAVE YOU EVER .... MILKED A COW?

I DID ... ONCE!!! i worked at River Valley Ranch in Maryland (a Christian teen ranch) the summer after i graduated from high school).

I had a 'crush' on the owner's son (i think he liked me too!) he taught me to 'milk a cow' .. of course, i got squirted in the eye too!

I contacted him a hand-full of years ago to say 'hi' .. and we had a fun 'remember the good 'ole days conversation.

never milked a cow after that though!

how about YOU!!

Have you ever butchered a chicken?
I have, once.. My family still can't believe that this chick who grew up in the mall learned how to butcher chickens and plucked the feathers off of several more.. but boy did my mom find that chicken delicious when they came to visit later that summer! Not sure if I would want to do it again, but at least I can say that I did it once!

I have never butchered a chicken, though I have threatened a few unruly roosters.

Have you ever pulled a lamb or calf.

I have, once. My father in laws hand was too big and he taught me how to manuever the little bugger out of there. He was a fine buck lamb and Mom did fine , as well. A happy story. "Course now, they are both in someone's freezer. 'Nother story....:o}

Well, I have milked a cow but only with the electric milkers. I have plucked my share of chickens. Both of these while I was growing up. We owned a chicken farm and my boyfriend in hs lived on a dairy farm. I have never milked a goat but I did have a dwarf goat named Max on the farm. No to the biker dude thing. I would be scared to death! Have never pulled a calf but have been present when it was done. Yikes!
I can't thinlk of a good have you ever question so I may have to come back to that.

Yes...to all the above except the Biker dude.
Have you ever ..... sheared a sheep by hand????
When I got my first sheep..about 10 years ago, I used to have a cute little college boy come out from the local AG college (this is when I lived in Calif..Mima..it was from CAl Poly) and he came out twice a year until we moved here..then...no such luck finding someone so I started shearing my own. I have been up to as many as 10 sheep but I don't do more than two in a day..usually only one as a matter of fact. Right now I only have two small ewes (Icelandic) and one angora goat. They all get sheared spring and fall..by me.

haven't sheared a sheep .. but sounds fun .. surely don't want to 'pluck no chickens' though!

i've 'probably' raced someone in my youth .. but no REAL drag race.

here's another question from me:

(and remember .. this has to be something that YOU have done if you ask the question):

HAVE YOU EVER: (AFTER HIGHSCHOOL .. BEEN IN ANY COMMUNITY THEATRE?)

we had a wonderfully fun theatre group in the mountains of colorado (evergreen) .. they took their theatre VERY seriously .. hank and i and both girls were in several plays .. i even won an 'academy award'!! (i think it was my low-cut dress roles that got it for me!)

how's about you?

We don't have livestock of any sort, so I've never done any of these things.

But... have you run hell-bent from your house to the pond in the woods, stripped off everything and done a running jump into the water?

It's hard not to laugh out loud with joy when you hit that water.

I spent a summer working at a public farm, so I have milked lots of cows. Never had to kill a chicken - the boys on the farm did that. Never told off a biker - but never needed to. Never birthed anything. I have sheared sheep at the public farm, but I'm not sure what you mean "by hand," Jenny; I used an electric clipper. I was a nonspeaking gypsy in a community production of "Babes in Toyland" when I was a teenager - but I got to do this weird solo dance part with a tambourine in the middle of a musical number.

HAVE YOU EVER...been knocked unconscious? I was once while sledding. I hit a big bump and went flying off my sled. Scared all the other poor kids out of their minds. They thought I was dead!

Well, lets see...I've milked a cow quite a few times. I'm friends with a lot of biker guys and I'm actually in charge of a motorcycle run here. I don't think I've met some of the nicer bunch as those guys (and gals). They can act all tough and stuff, but they definitely know how to say "yes mam, no mam" and be polite very quickly. I haven't butchered a chicken, but I have hogs and sheep while in college. I've pulled my fair share of cows and sheep on the farm. You never experience life until you witness the birth of a new baby calf. :) We sheared sheep while working on the farm in college. Hmm...lets see raced anyone - I'll be quiet on that one since family is on this board. HAHA. We'll just say that I had a truck and lots of long straight stretches in the town...and then one speeding ticket and paying $200 in costs and that was the end of that. Never in any community plays as I didn't have time for it with working on the farm and in FFA & 4H and other clubs. Never went skinny dipping and don't plan on it. Did go swimming a lot in our farm pond to cool off from working in the fields of hay and tobacco. Dad even built a dock on it so we could jump in it. I was knocked unconscious one time while riding a 4wheeler. I was going over a large tree - why I have no clue - and flipped it. Hit my head on a log and was there for a while. Had a nice ole knot on the head to show off and a major headache to deal with. I remember mom scared to death because I walked in the house and had a big knot on the head and scratched up.

Here's my question....have you spoken in public in front of a large crowd and gave a speech? I just thought of that today while working with the 4H kids.

I was knocked unconscious for a few minutes by a big heavy garage door coming down on my head one time. One of those 50 year old wooden ones that weigh alot....It knocked me silly!! Left a big old bump on my head and I had a mild concussion. Amazing that was it. I went to work afterwards and they sent me home. I can't beleive I DROVE right after that. Ow.
By shearing by hand I meant with hand shears (not electric) but shearing any sheep is a feat..electric or not. I find the electric shears too heavy for me to hold for so long.

Ooooh, Frannie, you naughty girl!

I milked cows when I was a kid.

Never did anything with sheep. Helped birth cats and dogs and one horse, though.

Never had a problem with a biker and probably wouldn't say anything if I did.

Never raced any motor vehicle. Raced my kids on roller skates once and broke my tailbone doing it!

Never butchered a chicken and never went skinny dipping. I was always afraid I'd get caught!

I was knocked unconcious at 15 when I was hit by a car while riding my bike. I was more upset over the condition of my bike and favorite t-shirt than I was the condition of my body!

Has anyone ever had a funny accident? I did it once while hunting with my hubby. We were hiking down a mountain and my boot laces got caught in something. Since my feet were pretty much tied to the ground, I ended up diving down the mountain and ended up head first into a deadfall. DH said all he could see were my feet and my rifle which I had held up behind me to protect the scope. No injuries; just some scratches. He tells this story like a joke now. I guess it must have looked pretty funny. I wear gators now so that my laces are completely covered.

Well...let's see. In no particular order:
*'ve never drag raced anyone
* have pulled a lamb on the farm I worked on in Cornwall, England (calves, too)--I imagined myself a right ole' James Herriot, I did!
*I have never told a biker to pipe down, but I have left three of them speechless after accidentally driving through a giant puddle that formed a tidal wave over (and onto)them!!!
*I have never sheared a sheep but Boy Howdy do I love to watch a good looking boy do that (sorry Jenny, you're pretty, but I bet that boy from Cal Poly was too :)
* I have never been knocked unconscious
* I was never in Community Theater
* I've milked a cow, but not butchered a chicken
Now...let's see...
Have you ever found anything valuable in the sand, dirt, grass, etc..?

I've never done any of the aforementioned things.

Have you ever been lost in the woods at night?

When I was maybe 13, I wandered off from my parents' campsite one evening before dinner. I got turned around and night arrived while I was still trying to get my bearings. I ended up coming down on the wrong side of the hill into another camping area. I finally saw the lights of a campsite and the people there drove me back to my parents. Funny thing is, being a city girl, I was more scared of getting into the car with a strange man than of going back into the dark woods.

You can bet I watched that sheep shearer guy "closely"..haha.
Never bleached my hair or got lost in the woods at night..but did get lost in the woods in the daytime when I was a kid camping at Yosemite...with a little boy my age who is now related. (his sister and my brother are married) His name was Rusty and I thought his name was Crusty. I have called him that ever since.
As for valubles found...I found a $20 bill in the sand at the beach one time. I was in High School (grew up in a beach town) and was thrilled. Tourists.

Crusty! That's great, Jenny!

I've personally never bleached my hair, but once I wanted to be a redhead, and the salon lady stripped my hair of all the natural color and when she was finished, I looked like Strawberry Shortcake. It was a BIT much.

Never been lost in the woods, but lost in the department store Dawhares as a little girl--that was scary enough :)

I've never been to modelling school.

Found treasure: When I was young, I found a diamond ring on a beach near Naples, Florida. It was from the 1940's, and I imagined that it had been down in the sand since WWII and I had this whole drama made up for how it was lost--the woman threw it down in despair when she found her fiance died in Normandy....probably it just came off someone's finger a few days prior :)

oh jonni .. stawberry would have been devinely FUN! i remember the very first time i had my hair bright RED .. i was in new york city with a buncha' gurlfrenz .. we all went to a 'posh' and 'trendy' salon. my hair was bright RED .. and it was so shocking to me .. that the girls kept buying me BROWNS to try and cover it up before i would leave the hotel room. LORDY! LORDY! LORDY! that was just previews of coming attractions! i am so happy that i now delight in fun, funky hair colors .. if i could jus' go back with 'what i know today' .. i'd have tossed my curls all about the new york city streets!

oh lisa .. glad you weren't hurt .. it is funny how 'funny' our 'accidents' sound on the re-telling of them! i once went 'shabby shopping' with about 20 friends in maryland .. we all parked our cars at a church in frederick, maryland .. shopped and had fun all day .. i was drinking big glasses of tea throughout the day .. plus a yummy lunch and dinner .. and NEVER had the urge to 'pee'!!! WELL .. by the time we all got back to the church parking lot .. i thought i wuz' gonna' BUST! i saw a hilly slope at the side of the parking lot .. and told my sister i was going to 'drop trow' just below eyesight of everyone (there was NO other place to escape to .. and we were all putting our treasures from the car's we'd carpooled in .. into our own) i stood precariously at the cusp of the hill .. crouched low .. with my britches (and jeans) down around my ankles .. and mid-stream .. i lost my balance .. and i swear .. i tumbled head over feet over head over feet .. like a rubber ball on a mission to get to the bottom of that hill!

needless to say .. i let out a yelp as i watered the surrounding hillside, my underoos and every other part of my body that rolled into the path of the stream! my sister (who was my lookout) SCREAMED louder than i did .. and of course .. everyone came running! there was a hillside of women that i caught a glimpse of with each roll!

i was soaking wet by the time they retrieved me from the gully at the bottom of the hill. NO ONE was willing to let me sit all soaked on their car seats. They emptied plastic bags of their treasures .. lined the seats and wrapped them around my nekked bottom .. and THAT is how i rode the hour ride home!

i can't much get together with these girls today without a re-telling of their personal variations of this story! and i think I laugh the loudest!
