As I was driving to work today, the wind is howling. I wouldn't be suprised if some of the gusts get up to 30mph.
There are clouds in the sky and the sun is barely peaking out from behind a ridge to the east. The wind is driving the clouds before it like a herd of wild horses. The clouds are a vibrant mix of brilliant white, grey, blues and pinks rushing across the sky.
To my right is another ridge dotted with huddled stands of trees. It looks like a misty cloud got trapped among the trees and is struggling to rejoin it's friends in the sky-driven stampede. But as I look it realize it is snow billowing up from the ground, as if it remembers the joy of speeding across the sky in the clouds and mourns that it fell and now is land bound.
The sound of the wind is a mockingbird's call of the ocean. Here miles and miles from the nearest ocean, I am hearing the surf pound the shore and the tide receed.
Oh Alee, when the wind hits the wintering willows they look on fire. It is so pretty and golden red against the snow and the sky is like a rapidly changing postcard, beautiful cloud scapes where ever you look.! It reminds you that there is beauty in all things. Have a good day Alee! thank you for the beautiful observations.

I kept expecting the walls to fall in.... according to the local news, 40-50mph gusts!!! & we live out here on the open plains so it is just horrible...DH is out on his tractor trying to clear the drifts off the driveway...uugghhh! not going anywhere today....
