Ok - actually I hope that we don't fly away. We are under a tornado watch right now and there is a huge squall line of serious storms heading straight towards us. Say a little prayer. I hate storms and they said we may be in for a rough night.

Wilma, I just saw the southern part of the county down in your neck of the woods under a tornado warning and it was heading towards Adair County. I can hear the wind here...and ok, the train whistle blowing and guess what song I just thought of (Folsom Prison Blues). haha. We live near a train track here and it usually blows around midnight.

They said that it is getting warmer and muggier here and that doesn't fare well. I'm staying up until it passes through.

I hope Brooke gets to feeling better. I had that stomach flu last week - no fun at all by no means!!

Jessica,

I up watching the weather too! I had drifted off for a minute or two in my chair but I started dreaming about a tornado so I woke up in a hurry. There are several warnings in Kentucky right now. My dog, Lizzie, is terrified of storms sort of like me. She won't leave my side right now. The wind is blowing heavy right now. I hope everyone is ok and safe now.

Frankfort is under a severe thunderstorm warning & Nelson County has a severe tornado warning. I'm watching Bill Meck on WLEX and watching online the radar. I'll get off of here when it starts thundering and stuff.

Jessica, I'm flipping back and forth between 3 Lex channels and the weather channel. We'll head for the basement if it gets near here. Hubby is snoring right now, but I'll wake him up as it gets closer.

I'm getting off here too, there are tornado warnings for counties all around my county. It won't be long until one is issued for here. I've never seen so many tornado warnings at the same time. Please take care everyone!

Our sirens are going off, but that's protocol for all warnings. They've reiterated that there aren't tornadoes, but still, sirens at 1:15 am are creepy. Be safe, girls!

Well we just went through the tornado warnings and such here....nothing here around the house as far as we could see, but the road by our house has trees down according to the news. The wind was really bad with gusts up to 60-70 mph with some bad rain. Pretty scary when we heard the sirens

Thankfully that everything went better than what we thought. We'll see in the morning if there was any damage or anything.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!

I've kept an eye for Wilma's area too and my parents area. Looks like things have calmed down there. The bad thing is that come spring time, it only gets worse. I have seen a couple of tornadoes in my lifetime growing up and remember running to the basement. Fortunately they didn't hit our farm and we have been extremely fortunate. Probably the worst story that I know from a guy that lived beside us when we lived in Lexington was that his baby was asleep in the baby crib. A tornado came out of pretty much out of the blue...no warnings, nothing. Only one of the weather guys had went "oh my, I think we have a tornado hitting". The tornado hit the subdivision and the baby was flown out of her crib and into the yard. Thankfully she survived with a tiny scratch. They moved beside us and it is weird when they show tornado specials on the tv, they will show the family. Kentucky's weather gets pretty wild at times. One day it is 70 degrees, the next 35.

Well, it was an interesting night here to say the least. Terrible winds, but we didn't get as bad as some. Our tornado sirens went off 4 times though. (I think our in home siren goes off for 2 or 3 counties.) I heard that there were 7 deaths in Kentucky last night and about 24 in the states that had the tornado breakouts. On one channel they said there were like 50 tornadoes over an 18 hour period. I hope all farmgirls and their families are safe.

Here are some stories in our local paper about the storms:

Storms may have caused fire at hotel under construction
http://www.kentucky.com/254/story/309880.html

Storms close roads, down trees, knock out power in Lexington
http://www.kentucky.com/254/story/309870.html

7 dead after storms hit Kentucky
http://www.kentucky.com/254/story/309860.html

Harrodsburg got a big mess of the winds. I just talked to my hubby and he said that trees were down on the way to work. It was scary last night, but I'm glad that it was quick and over with.

Doing pretty good Amanda. I've been making calls and checking on some folks. Over in Western Kentucky just south of Bowling Green, they got hit with storms and 4 died. They just showed Lexington (just east of us) and they had those heavy hotel signs to fall on cars. They showed one metal sign that had flown across the road and wrapped itself around a pole. It looks like Harrodsburg got hit with quite a bit of damage. Somerset and down that way just had a lot of rain and wind, but no damage reported.
