Would it be possible to plan a farmgirl weekend at the farm sometime in August?? We could all share the cost of renting out the tents and meet each other? Would that not be the funnest weekend ever!! We could all sit around the fire at night and share our stories!! Of course-Maryjane and Meg would HAVE to join us! Could this fantasy become a reality??? I'm all about saving my money for plane fare!!!Love you guys!

oh debi darlin' ... i'm 'probably' there if it is a 'go' .. mostly depends on how long i'm needed with the new 'grande' coming along (mid-June) .. and .. my precious daughter, kristen, might have some serious health issues that would take me to delaware for awhile (prayers are appreciated). ALSO .. would prefer to NOT have it over August 15th as that is grandson, lucas' birthday ... i hate to miss one .. but i suppose i could for one year.
maryjane had asked if i would be able to teach a 'doll class' at the farm this summer. maybe that would be a good time to do this too.
sounds like lotsa' fun ..

debi .. we should probably let maryjane pick a date .. she knows her 'reservatons' schedule .. and we might need most of her tents .. depending on how many of us can make it! i plan, at this point to spend mid-june (earlier if the baby comes earlier) probably through most of july in toledo when the baby is born. remember, a lot has to do with my other daughter's health issues too. i'm praying she is o.k. and that her tests will come out fine.
i'll have to take my sewing machine to toledo with me if we're going to have a dolly class .. so i can make all the 'bodies' ahead of time. of course, there will be no charge for all my farmgirl friends to take a class .. but again .. much depends on maryjane's farm schedule.
sure does sound like fun though!!! xo

debi .. my older daughter, Kristen, got three 'suspicious' mams in a row .. sooo .. they are going to do a biopsy and we are praying they are 'nothing'. She is adopted .. so i know nothing about her family history. I did, indeed, find her dad's family when she was in her early 20's .. i told her that it might be a good thing to find out about family medical history .. and as time comes between life's years .. it can become harder and harder to find one's biological family. (it took me FIFTY years to find my mom's family!) She was young and simply 'not interested'. Told me she had her 'momma' tha loved her and she didn't need to know about any other. I respected that and did not pursue it.
OH .. someday i will tell the very funny story about how i found her family! it's one of my fav stories to tell 'in person'.
you know dearheart .. even if it was just a few of us that could make it .. that would be GRANDE .. i do so love smaller gatheings where we have plenty of time to reeeeeeeeeeely get to know one another. (i have SIX coming in a couple weeks to our Cabin Fever Gathering .. and THREE beds ... will put up three cots .. and i swanee .. if one more had come, i'd have to have put her on the fireplace hearth! A 'smaller' class would be easier for me too .. and it always gives more time for me to spend more time with each dolly-maker.
GOSH .. it can be done with bigger groups though. When I was the momma of the Crooked Tree Hollow Doll Club in Maryland .. i would bring a teacher about every other month .. and our class sizes were always around TWENTY! but .. i rarely took the class .. cuz' i played 'hostess with the mostess' and helped the teacher. But t'was all fun!!
I'll contact Maryjane soon's my Cabin Fever Gathering is over to see if there is a do-able date! thanks for those sweet words dearheart! xo

You gals are so wonderful! I would love to have you for not only dolly classes but canning, embroidery, composting, apron couture, firewood gathering, … you name it. Here's what we're up against. Towards the end of June we have a big wedding that we want to devote our full attention to. Our son Brian is getting married here at the farm (actually in our one-room school house) with my husband, Nick, officiating. So that date interfered with Farm Fair 2008 but we're planning now for Farm Fair 2009. As you can imagine, running a B&B is a lot of work but last year was our best yet because I had April here to help run it!! She and Charlie married this past summer (we have his CD for sale here on our website). Both he and April have amazing musical talents and want to seek their fame and fortune...elsewhere. In other words, they want to leave in June. (Don't think I haven't begged her to stay in every way imaginable!) She's almost irreplaceable. For those of you who've met her, you know what I mean. It isn't easy to find a maitre d who can split mountains of fire wood just by looking at it, cook bacon perfectly, create a touch of farm romance for every guest, be a master gardener, etc. and then sing at the end of the day!
That said, is there a chance we can fill our five tents sometime in May rather than August??? Frannie, can you teach dollies then? Mima, my daughter and I soooooooo want to meet you! How many days do you need to teach dollies, Frannie?
I’ll get with Sunny tomorrow and see if we can think of a few other things we can teach in May and come up with an official schedule. But first I have to pin April down and make sure she’s staying until June 1.

I know Kay and I would love to come in May but I don't think we'll be able to financially. I'm going to Florida to see my son and daughter in law (who is quite ill right now) and then from there I plan to go to Connecticut to see my elderly aunts and family there. This is going to be pretty expensive. I know Kay's financial situation is about the same as mine so I don't know.
I could teach animal communication if anybody wants it.
Sounds like a great time!! Much good luck to everybody who wants to make it happen!!

I can do anything at the end of May :) And MaryJane, I have family and friends in the area so I'd be happy to come ahead of time, stay with them and come out to the Farm and volunteer my services to help get ready for all the farmgirls. I'm pretty handy - although I've never split firewood :) So just hollar if the time comes and you'd like a volunteer worker bee I'd love to help! :) Sissy

Hey mima (debi) it would be wonderful to meet up with you again....Ventura was fun but all to short. I would love to join in the festivities over @ MJF, the only time not good for me is the 4th weekend of April and the 3rd weekend in June, I will be at Sisters on the Fly trips. For the June SOTF trip MaryJane Bigler & I will be in McCall, ID. We'll be passing by Moscow so we will be sure to give a hardy "Wave' as we pass through. So if the "gathering" is any other time, I most certainly want to join in the fun & merriment. Oh, and JoAnn, you are Awesome girl to have slept on a trampoline, I am such a panty waist, I need a little more comfort! lol!

Though there is not a chance that I would be able to get away, I sure am having fun dreaming about your get together. It sounds just delightful! I think a doll making class would be just the most wonderful thing, Frannie! Well you girls keep talking and I'll keep dreaming.

Grace, I should finish the story of the trampoline sleepon. Cindylou and I started the night on the trampoline. Even though it was the fourth of July weekend it was getting mighty cold . I waited for Cindylou to say are you getting cold? She then wanted to know if I'd like to go in. (Duh) ya if you do. I followed her dragging a dew soaked sleeping bag to the cook shack/bunkhouse. We left the wet bags on the floor, climbed to the loft, removed things off the two beds, beautifully fitted with starched sheets and down comforters and slept in blissful comfort for the rest of the night. JoAnn, too funny, I probably would have resorted to snaeky tactics and said something like, "Oh my did you see that big spider that just went under your sleeping bag"? hahahaha! How's the weather up there in Colville? We didn't get any snow last night but Tuesday & Thursday don't look to good.

I would LOVE to be part of this! My hubby and I were there last May for our 10th Anniversary, we met April (she IS great) and just loved our time at the farm so much! (Maryjane, do you remember us? My husband is the one who helped Nick replace the propane tank for the hot water tank in the shower house) ! Please count me in if you get dates down! PS Can I bring my daughters? They are little farmgirls in training, and would love to be part of it! But if you only want grown up Farmgirl time, that's ok too! Ooooh I'm getting excited! |
