Hey, girls, check out my "Sudden Country" topic. The author's husband has made a post, and they have an MJ, Moscow, ID connection! I love being part of this synchonicity!! Too cool!

After reading the review on the Barnes & Noble site, I guess I am going to purchase "A Sudden Country". How can I not, all about pioneers on the Oregon Trail and by an author who now lives in one of my favorite vacation spots - Lopez Island in the Washington San Juans. How perfect is that. Include me in on this one.

Good Morning Farmgirls!!

MaryJane is pleased to announce that you can now sign up to be on our mailing lists for all the various Farmgirl Connection projects … from traveling aprons, books, buttons, charm squares, dolls, and quilts to sharing mail art, birthdays and recipes.

We’re now ready and willing to gather up all your mailing lists for these projects and manage them here at the farm. Just click on the “Sign up for Farmgirl Connection Projects” link from the Farmgirl Connection opening page to see descriptions of all the traveling projects.

Sign up for the projects that suit your fancy. Then we'll e-mail back to ask a few pertinent questions and get your address and phone number. While we monitor the lists for privacy and safety, all you farmgirls at heart can turn your energies toward creativity!

I know there is some confusion, as the mailing lists were started on the forum and are now managed here at the farm. If you’re curious to know if you’re already on a list, please contact Kate@maryjanesfarm.org and she’ll be happy to check for you. Take it Kate! …

---------
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Kate Edwards and I’m a new member of the MaryJanesFarm crew (oh how exciting!!). I grew up just north of Spokane in a little town called Riverside with my Mom (Teri), Dad (Steve) and little sis (Allie). After high school I went to Eastern Washington University, where I studied Communications. Throughout my life, I’ve always been the kind of person to follow life’s little paths wherever they decide to take me, and this past spring my path took an exciting turn. I was introduced to MaryJane’s son, Emil, at my mom's spring antique show (The Farm Chicks Antique Show and Open Marketplace). The next thing I knew, my weekends were full of visiting the farm in Moscow to see my new boyfriend (oh how fun it is to be a girl!!). Then just this past week, MaryJane offered me the delightful job of organizing the mail lists for all the fun farmgirl projects on the forum and to run MaryJane’s Bed & Breakfast. I couldn’t pass it up!! What an amazing dream this has all become. Now that you all know a little about me, it's time for me to learn all about you. Can't wait to chat with you all soon!!
---------

Other new forum features:

We’ve added a section for Farmgirl Chapters on our website. Our new web features allow you to sign up to Start a Chapter, do a Chapter Search to find and communicate with neighboring chapters, read a recent Newsletter, sign up for a Traveling Journal, and attend a Farmgirl Campout Convention. We’ll also be able to add new pages as new ideas are created.

The Farmgirl Connection is continuing to grow by leaps and bounds thanks to Clare, Eileen and all the fabulous farmgirls at heart that are gathered here! The strong ties of friendship are held together by all our apron strings!! Thank you all for participating in the Farmgirl Connection!

Sunnily yours,

MaryJane's Left-Hand Farmgirl

Welcome, Kate! It sounds like MaryJane has been given another great gift in you! Thank you, Cindylou for introducing Kate!

I am not a formal member of the MJF book club (would like to join up if it is not too late), but wanted to let you all know that I ordered and received A Sudden Country. It is what my book club here at home is going to discuss the next time we meet on October 18th. Thanks to all of you, that was our choice! I received my book yesterday from Amazon, and I got an interesting copy. It was a copy made for reader review and is unedited. The story looks fascinating already.

Look forward to reading all your comments. Again, Welcome Kate.

Hi jpbluesky! Kate is adorable, we are all thrilled to have her join us here at the farm! Kate will be in tomorrow for a little bit and then is off to New York City with MaryJane and the rest of the crew. You'll be hearing from her soon! If you want to join the book exchange being organized here at the farm send an e-mail including your name, physical address, e-mail address and phone number to Kate@maryjanesfarm.org (click on the Sign-up for Farmgirl Connection projects link on the opening page.) The book Exchange has not started yet, so Kate will be in touch when she gets back.
I wish we could travel as easily as we can e-mail ~ I am hoping that somehow you can all come for Farm Fair and the Farmgirl Campout the evening of Saturday July 1st!! Meeting Clare was just fantastic! Where there is a will there is a way!!
love ya,

Cindylou - thank you for the nice reply! I heard from Kate by email about the traveling dollies, and I joined the traveling apron list; now I will go and add my name to the book club list. As you can see, MaryJane happenings are becoming a big part of my life! I hope I can get to Moscow next July. It is on my goals list! I want to meet you all so much!

Next week, I will be in the North Carolina mountains and I am taking the book to read on the porch of the cabin. That will be a perfect addition to the trip.

Cindylou - I know we could have some fun like has never been had before! I have picked out my apron already.....maybe...will it be the old blue or the red with the gravy stain.....or maybe the the gingham check....:) Most likely, there will have to be a separate little suitcase for my aprons.

Ok so who's going to start off this book discussion about A Sudden Country?? Anybody? I really liked this book, I am not prepared to discuss "hidden meanings" and have no answers to Clares question list, have never been good at that. I had a hard time with her writing style at first but once I got into it I thoroughly enjoyed it. She has an amazing talent for putting me right into the character and almost feeling what they were feeling. I found myself nearly crying when she lost her china.

We're discussing it in the Sudden Country topic, I believe. Please share your thoughts there too!
