Last year was sooo incredibly hard. My husband who had been in recovery from alcohol for a while fell into a depression last Jan and started drinking. But much harder stuff than he ever had in the past. It was a whole year of one nightmare after the other. He even spent a week in jail after we moved to Nevada in July- just one week after we moved here. That wasn't enough to wake him up. He tried my patience that is for sure. He had been sober for a couple of weeks then drank Sunday and Monday-much lighter than usual but enough. He decided to be superman and fly through our yard where we keep our firewood and broken pallets to be used as firewood. It was very dark and he decided to jump over a pallet- he missed and broke his ankle in 3 places. He was screaming for 20 minutes before he finally crawled to the back door. A neighbor called the sherrif and he called a ambulance. I loaded up all 6 kids at almost 9 at night to drive 40 minutes to the hospital. We didn't get home until 12:30 am.. he had surgery Tuesday morning. A metal plate and several screws we put in place. He is now at home- won't be able to drive for several months- 2 at the least. Can you say forced recovery? Can't buy alcohol if he can't drive.. Of course I have to take care of him, drive him to dr appts, physical therapy when the time comes etc... I have to do all of his work and all of my work.. Last year was so incredibly hard. He vacated life and left me to handle everything. He lost income several times- which happens but because of his drinking he never made it up. Then in Dec. we lost 75% of our income. Now he is trying to make it up while recooping. We are losing our suburban by the end of Feb. need to find a used van to fit us all that is reliable- for less than $2k.. Can you say-"Lord I need a miracle"? I was battling my anger over the lost of income and all the chaos we went through last year then this happens. arggg.... I am not sure what God is trying to teach me but I willing to listen. I have missed you all. Life just got miserable for a while.. hugs, debra

Debra, I am so sorry for all that you have been through this past year. What a terrible time this has been for you. I hope that this as you call it forced recovery knocks some sense into him. Maybe he will really try to stop this time. Alcohol is a demon for a lot of people. My whole life I have been surrounded by people who have problems with it. The worst part of it is the innocent bystanders especially the spouse( and children) usually do end up shouldering most of the responsibilities. It can make you feel very bitter. You have really been having a bad timne of it. I pray that things will start looking up for you and your family very soon.

Thank you Mary Jane. He does want to recover for this. Struggling with food my whole adult life I understand how helpless you feel to break free of your addictions. He is making positive steps (wanting to bless 10 families by helping them with their internet businesses is one of them). I am just weary at the moment. A lot is on my plate.. Thank you for the prayers!

He was going to AA. We are working through another program and there is AA online. He does internet marketing mainly. Search engine optimization. Bringing traffic to your site. I build websites. I built my woolie acres site. Nothing huge, not that I can't but that I don't have the time..

Debra, I am so sorry that you are carrying this burden. But even through your frustration, I hear such a sweet spirit in your post. What an amazing woman you must be! I will really be praying for you, honey, & for your dear husband. I hope he is willing to seek the help that needs to fight his addiction.
I am a true believer that everything happens for a reason. I, too, have had circumstances in my life and at the time I just could see absolutely no positive outcome. But looking back now ... even to last year ... I see that all things really did work together for good.
I'm here for you if ever you just need to vent a bit. In the meantime, I'll be praying.
Warm farmgirl hugs ...

I am exhausted. I just want to curl up and take a nap myself.. My dh (like most men I am sure) is not a easy patient. He is not making this easy for us. Though he couldn't do it on his own either.

Debra, if you ever get the time you should check out Loretta Lynn's second autobiography, "Still Woman Enough". She's shared many of your heartbreaks.

Debra, hang in there honey. I can only imagine how difficult all these changes must be. It is difficult when you're carrying all the responsibilities of the family. I'll just keep praying for you. Are you getting to spend any time on your little quilts? I have a little pattern that you might enjoy. If you send me your address, I'll pop it in the mail to you.
