My husband is looking for a new job, and has a great opportunity at a nice cafe down the street from my office--it looks very promising. Such a neat place, but he's freaked out because his ex-fiance (from 11 years ago) is the chef, and they ended their relationship so terribly, he thinks she'll put the cabosh on his being hired. He was also really worried about me being "jealous" or uncomfortable with him working so closely with her....Look, ladies, I've seen her and I don't really know what the mystique is all about (she has red hair, which is pretty, but did anyone ever look at her face?)...anyway, I just think it would be REALLY crappy if he didn't get this job because of her and their personal issues, instead of his qualifications. I guess there's not much to do if that does happen--and who would be able to say that's exactly "why" he wasn't hired--I guess I'm just venting...stupid girls

Let's hope that for her their past is "water under the bridge". Hopefully she is professional enough not to let the past interfere with either of their careers. Since their relationship had been so "terrible" I doubt you have to worry about any old flames being rekindled. The important thing is your husband finding the best job for him! Good luck on things turning out for the best!

thanks, girls. I think it will be fine, afterall most restaurants have a "back of the house" and a "front of the house" and the chef really doesn't get to pick the front of the house. I really am surprised actually, that he hasn't run into her before with the places he's worked.
I never even thought about her until he brought it up, and then I just thought, "seriously? We've been married for 7 years, and she's been married for 10... do you REALLY think she's ever even considered you again?" But, boys are really weird, and I hope, that if he's hired he won't be a freak

Jonni, I so hope he gets this job! I've been praying for his job situation... And, how did your insurance request go at work? If I missed that, forgive me. I hope you did get it worked out.

Well, good news! He was hired yesterday at ANOTHER restaurant, and actually, I think it will suit him much better, and doesn't come equipped with an ex-fiance . It's a place called Otto's, and like our favorite restaurant in Louisville (Lilly's) relies on fresh, seasonal regional ingredients and local farm fresh meats, etc...casual fine dining without the fuss. I think he's going to be very happy--if the permasmile last night was any indicator 
Ann, thank you so much for asking about the insurance...I worked it out with my doctor to find a generic prescription, so I'm now paying $11.00 as compared to $285 a month. That's been a HUGE lift of a burden for us, and now there is some money built up in the account that I can use for other doctor visits, etc...I doubt I'll ever get the benefit of the free and clear deductible, but at least I'm not running through the money before it was even placed into the account by my employer. Thank you for encouraging me to speak up...it worked.

I wouldn't have had the guts to ask if it wasn't for you girls, and Ann in particular. I was satisfied to just be a victim of the system. Never again. Where there is a will there is a way, and it's so wonderful to have friends to light your way!
