You know what I love: luxuries mixed with old or cheap things that I love. That's how my style style is. My Louis Vuitton purses with a FG flair or a simple/cheap something

I love bohemian wild child since I am one (tie dye, batik), love vintage barkcloth leaf and rose designs and always lean towards the jewel tones although I love the shabby chic (creamy white and pastel pinks, sage greens)

I just love to collect things and there is no stopping in sight..LOL

bridget .. i think it was posted on here how to do that .. i set up an account with PHOTO BUCKET (jus' google it) .. then you SAVE photos to PHOTO BUCKET .. then when you want to post a photo here .. you click on the little REPLY TO TOPIC at the TOP of each page .. then in the body of your post .. click on the little square icon with 'mountains' and a tiny sun in the righ-hand corner .. and this will show up:

then you go to your PHOTO BUCKET and choose the picture you want .. click on: DIRECT LINK under the photo (remember .. you have to follow the directions to get a photo onto Photo Bucket first .. if you need help with that AFTER opening your account .. let me know and i'll see if i can walk you through it. .. anyhoo .. you go between the two: {img} CLICK YOUR IMAGE HERE {img} AND voila .. YOUR PHOTO SHOULD SHOW UP IN YOUR POSTING

a little bit of quaker with a little victorian and a lot of primitive thrown in.

Not sure what you would call my style? I love a touch of primitive mixed with pretties.

french country! i love bright colors and busy, busy, busy fabrics! also, that european/practical approach.....if you use something alot, like certain kitchen utensils, you leave the stuff out. i'm also getting more into open shelving...easier to find/take out/put back.

I'd have to say that right now I'm very vintage cottage. Wicker, soft whites, blues, and greens, old 40's and 50's tinware, glass pitchers and milk glass. But one day I aspire (and it does make me go weak in the knees, swoooon!) to have a house that's faded english country manor (Georgian style). Old worn chintzes, stacks of old books and magazines, bits and bobs of travel souvenirs (tea chests, oriental vases, paisley throws) and everything have that 'it's been there for ages, comfortable, elegant style'look.

Btw I'm just redoing my kitchen (boy do cabinets add up when you have to sand and repaint them all!) I'll post a pic when I'm all done. Very vintage cottage!

I think my style is a combination of cottage, shabby chic, farmhouse and early Salvation Army! I like a little of some of it, and a lot of the other! My problem is deciding on WHICH one to go with, or how to mix and match 'em in a room.

I like a lot of things, and like Bridget said, I can appreciate any style....even modern, although my home is not modern. My style is country primitive, kind of artsy with some quirky things, maybe a contemporary piece thrown in to keep it interesting, and plants and nature added. I like the Pottery Barn style when something is used in a different way, not what was used for originally. I like surprises. I quess I'm country eclectic (sp) with a touch of nature. Your laundry room is great, Frannie!

oh chilluns .. i'm jus' loving hearing all the different styles that makes our hearts sing! it is truly wonderful when we just sit or stand in a room in our homes .. and get 'warm fuzzies' at all we see and especially when something brings back memories. i just took a buncha' photos of my 'prissy privy' .. it takes a LONG time to download them here .. (i'll try one or two) .. but the rest i will put on my BLOG .. i'll let ya'll know when they are posted .. i'll put a thread that says PRISSY PRIVY. even though i think if i absolutely HAD to choose .. PRIMITIVE would win my heart .. but these little 'dainty darlings' just draw me in wherever i spy them.

thanks to all for sharing your 'dream styles'. xo

I'm not sure what style I have in my home. It's a mixture of cultures I guess. My husband, who's Swedish, likes the basic, sparse look. He frowns on my doodads and whatnots. He doesn't like things that to him don't serve a purpose. (I think if something makes you smile and glad in your heart to look at it, it has served a purpose.) I come from a long line of women who love the Victorian style, lace, antiques, flowers, and etc. One thing my husband and I both agree on is our love of candles and lanterns. We also both like earth tones and nature so we've decorated, no not decorated just put stuff together, with that in mind. But I do have some pretty and frilly things that I incorporate in from time to time when he's not looking.

oh bridge .. i have a big-butt 'ole GRIN from ear to ear! you make my heart smile! i love the idea of curling up under a cozy blankee with a good fren and talkin' about our hopes and dreams.

one of the absolute most wonderful memories i have is of a time about 15 years ago .. when my very best childhood gurlfren, grace (we were in kindergarten through 11th grade together) came to our home .. there were six childhood friends and when we turned fifty we decided to reconnect! all the frenz came to our home in maryland for a reunion .. the second or third year we did this .. we were again meeting at our home .. and i had what we called the 'snuggle chair' .. i would often snuggle with the 'grandes' there and read books and tell stories. (oh my .. i wish the cabins had been big enough to bring it along!) it sat two cozily! forest green soft, squishy leather!

well .. this particular year .. i got a whiz-bang of a headache .. and was trying valiantly to be 'up' and 'cheerful' while i had drummers drumming in my head! my friend grace noticed how brave i was trying to be .. but saw that i was in pain .. she came over and got me by the hand .. and walked me to the 'snuggle chair' where she had been sitting. she pulled a coverlet over us .. and laid my head on her shoulder .. and told me to just close my eyes and rest .. and i did and the conversation turned to the sound of angels softly singing as i dozed off listening to the gurlfrenz speak of 'rememberings' .. to wake up hours later .. still there in her sweet arms with my headache completely gone.

those dear mammies comforted many a child in their lifetimes .. and i can't imagine a more precious compliment. thank you dear friend.

xo, frannie

My tastes have kind of "evolved" through the years. I would now say I am "primitive farmhouse" as I primarily love primitives but every now and then a cottage type piece makes the cut and sneaks in. My sofa is still very cottagy with its big cabbage roses, but maybe someday it will get re-done as time and money permits. I would be much more "pure" in my decor if I simply started over, but that takes the fun out of it. I love a home that is built with time, piece by piece. I am constantly rotating things out and new things in. So glad I now have my shop to allow me to do this! I am in the midst of savng to reupholster two wonderful Pennsylvania House (which is a division of Ethan Allen) wingback chairs. They will probably be a tan and barn red check when I am through and then hopefully my sofa and matching chair can go from floral to distressed leather. It's all a process and I love seeing it change!

Hugs and Blessings,

Brenda

I Like many styles, but the arts and crafts movement and style is what I love the most, kind of bohemian with a folk arts twist here and there

Oh! This is me! I was trying to think of how to describe the way I decorate. Lately I've been de-cluttering and making things more neutral. Last year we moved to a 1910 farmhouse that has wonderful lines and architectural details. I'm now focused on creating a backdrop to showoff those details and all of the quilts that I make. The best thing is now all of our antique and reproduction Mission furniture has found a great home.

Marcia--who has to really concentrate to not make things 'frilly'. I like lace. And I do still sneak it in sometimes.
