pitty-pat? do you love feminine, lacy VICTORIAN .. homespun pioneer primitive .. wild-child shades and shapes of ARTSY ...
sleek, clean, clear simple shaker ... homey, lived-in traditional ... posh sophisticated .. earthy with touches of color mexicali .. cowboy leather and stirrups punch ... twiggy adirondack .. etc. etc. ... tell us what you love.

bridget .. when you look at a 'magazine rack' filled with mags .. what do you tend to 'gravitate' towards?

i love very PRIMITIVE .. but there is also a 'girly-streak' that runs through me .. VICTORIAN .. not furniture .. but the beautiful pristine WHITE clothing and linens .. and oh my .. Victorian BABY CLOTHES .. just melts me all over!

when visiting 'back home' in Maryland .. i went with some friends to a big antiques mall with the LOVELIEST collection of Victorian baby, children and women's PRETTIES! i bought two precious, precious, child's hankies for Valentine's day for little Sofia! xo

well honey-doo .. jus' live with and enjoy them all!! in Maryland .. i had VERY frilly VICTORIAN guest bathrooms .. and my grand-daughter's "ANGEL FAIRIE" bedroom was very feminine. And the WEDDING ROOM was feminine. The rest of our home was very PRIMITIVE. I have TWO frilly rooms here in the cabin .. both tiny .. the guest 'privy' .. and my teeeeensy little laundry room. i ADORE going in there and looking around! i'll take some pics and post! xo

OOO yeah that'd be fun to see. Hey you should post a post that everyone could post their home style pics.

Yeah I just wish I knew how to incorporate it all.

I'm looking in my bedroom and here's what I have. I love to decorate etc. My bed is a 4 post cherry bed with the cool springs ralph lauren pattern comforter and pillows aka red with cream accenting flower design. I have a side table that is sorta chinese looking with flowers and is dark a Cherry dresser with photos and a few favorite items (brambly hedge snowglobes) a coat rack for purses a chest of drawers walnut wood with my tv and dvd player and then my jewelry box thingy ( i forget the name) sorta cherry and a dresser that is an antique with beauty stuff and stereo. OH and my great g-mas hope chest (houses my dead cousins stuff and letters from my dead pap) doesn't sound so hopeful when I put it like that. On top of it there's pillows of every kind and a few fav stuffed animals. NOTHING seems to come together. Whats funny is mum came in and said wow your room looks great.?!

this is a glimpse into my tiny little laundry room .. it is quite 'child-like' .. (i do have a slightly larger wooden ironing board than this 'child's ironing board) .. i have lots of 'pretties' in here .. mostly 'children's victorian pretties. i delight in ironing in here! xo, frannie

Our house is a mix of clean line-shaker and inherited antique mission furniture. We also have some primitives, because I love the history and the "handmade" of the object. I like where we come from. Really for me, it's all about simplicity and function.

OMG that gives me the idea....I've always thought dressers would come in handy maybe more so than shelves.....bingo!!!! We have a ton of antique furniture here. I love your laundry room. I wanna see the child pretties! LOVE IT. See I dig that style!

I'm enthralled with 20s-50s style things. I think its neat how things had a classy look and not tons of clutter. Lemme see if I can get a good pic .....

Oh, I have some doo dahs too, Frannie, but even they have their simplicity, like belljars with a birds nest and fossils underneath, or early stoneware pitchers and things like that. Simple, but still doo dahs :)
Yea, that mission furniture really suits out west, doesn't it?

I think I first fell in love with the Stickley furniture when I was at Interlochen. I went to Grand Rapids for Thanksgiving one season, and there were a couple of dealers who ONLY dealt in Stickley, but it was virtually free then. Boy, I sure wish at 17 I'd had a little more income!!!!

I love a modern country look. Not too fussy, clean lines, with artistic pop here and there. I keep the over all look simple so I can toss in what ever hits my fancy.

I gravitate toward beat up tropical color crossed with a nice beach with a splash of farmgirl flare and Texas spunk and a dash of pet hair!!!- Now if you can figure out what the heck that it---let me know!!!

I do tend to gravitate towards pink, turquoise blue, red, lime green- but I love enamelware, white pottery pieces, pine furniture pieces, stars, lots of older picture frames, anything that looks handmade and imperfect, simple and clean lined and not to fussy..I am definitely a mix of girlie meets Texas Hubby!!!

Cheers,
Heather
