Has anyone made miso soup before? I was just reading the wonderful qualities od miso and I am seriously thinking about starting to cook with it. It is supossed to have live enzymes in it that are good for your digestion and a good way to just stay healthy! Any ideas, thoughts or recipes?

dreamer. I live in GA as well. You can go to a chinese food store if one is close to you. I am near the Mall of Ga north of Atlanta. There is a few nice ones around and you might find some miso at the Whole Foods Store....it is in a container and you use only a little..it will give you directions on how to use it. Really the only soy you should use is fermintted (not sure if I spelle that correctly. They other soy is not good for us to eat...But they put it in evrything these days. And there are companies cutting down trees in some places to farm soy....Not sure why when we have enough farm land here...but you can look at UNTE mag for the article...

Beans are up to $13.05 as of Friday the 18th. After years and years of selling beans for $5 or less some people are getting very excited. We're not cutting down any trees though, just cutting back on other crops.

The instructions on my miso container have only one recipe for Miso Soup with Wakame.
Simmer 6 cups water and 1 sliced carrot 10 minutes. Soak 3 Tablespoons wakame for 5 minutes and add to soup, along with 2 sliced scallions and 1/3 lb chopped organic tofu. Simmer 1 to 2 minutes, remove from heat, dilute 1/4 cup Brown Rice Miso in some stock and add to soup. Makes about 7 cups.
