Okay, so my aunt doesn't have to worry about me "taking" the name Josephine since we found out this baby is a boy. I have been searching through baby name books and can not find much that I like at all so I need some suggestions. First of all, I like Biblical or old-fashioned type names. I also like long names or names that have at least one or two nicknames. We already have two kids named Rebecca and Jacob. Any boy suggestions out there? -Elizabeth |

The only thing about Montana is that now a lot of girls are named that as well so it is sort of a uni-sex name which I am not usually fond of! -Elizabeth |

I've always liked Zebadiah (had a good friend from New Hampshire in school named Zebadiah--Zeb for short), and I also really like Abraham and though it isn't biblical, Augustus, "August" for short.

Marybeth- I am trying to convince my husband about Joseph, though he "really" doesn't like it. The only other name that we both kind of like is Robert, though it isn't Biblical it is old-fashioned in a way. Keep those hints coming!! -Elizabeth |

when naming my children I tried to give them names that had both a spiritual type of meaning/biblical in context, but also a personal type/spiritual type message to each child...using their first and middle names to make a personal sentence/phrase especially for each child. for my son..his name translation equates to "little one: God is gracious" littlest daughters name equates to: "God's Grace embracing all things beautiful" oldest one name translation: "pleasant one, like unto God"

I have always liked William..Will for short, or Seth ..not much of a way to shorten that one I guess. I like Ben too (Benjamin). I have always liked my son Travis' name (more cowboy than biblical for sure..but a good solid name)Dalton seems the same to me..my youngest son's names. My older boys are Corey, Casey and Justin.

Jenny - how old is Dalton? My dd named her first son Dalton and it was the first time I'd ever heard it. He's 3.

Well, I have two little boys - William and Arthur - and I just love those names. I really like the name Joshua, also, and Burns. Burns was my most wonderful favorite grandfather's name. It's so strong and he was so amazing. I would've named one of my boys Burns if my last name didn't start with a "z." It just sounded strange.
Anyway, I know that when I was trying to pick a name for Arthur, the gals here gave me such wonderful choices - let me see if I can find that thread for ya'...

I named my baby boy Elias (we call him Eli) - "the Lord is God". It's not Biblical but is a derivative of Elijah. I also like Silas and Josiah, |

I have a Joshua at my house. It suits him. I wanted to name him Jacob, but his dad said no way. I am glad he insisted.
But I also love Micah, Noah and John-(Jack).
I am sure whatever you pick out will be a good fit.

babysmama the only advice i have since i am doing the same thing is say the whole name out loud, my biggest hitch has been finding something that goes with our last name even though its a common one it still isnt easy

My great grandfather's name was Elisha and a lot of people called him 'Lish' for short. Also another nickname for Elisha could be Eli. I've always liked that name.

Anne, my godfather was Carroll Burns and even though I'm named after him (Carroll is my middle name), everone called him Burns, or Burnsie.
I've always loved Jack--if we ever do have children, we picked Jackson Paul Aloysius Lynch...my husband is a 3rd generation Paul Aloysius, and we love the name Jack...but to make it sound right, you have to add an extra sylable. Unfortunately, I understand it's becoming a VERY common name.

trying to avoid those very common names is not any easy task, that is why i have decided that aiden is out for us. so now down to two names gaven or ean. i am really leaning towards ean. how about Calev its really close to caleb and that is a biblical name.

I'm really surprised at what the common names are now...our niece, Ava is one of 4 in her little suburban preschool class in Northern Indianapolis. 2 of the 4 are Ava Elizabeth's, just like her....it almost seems like people are actually making up names now....I was driving behind an SUV a couple of days ago, and they had this little sticker of a cheerleader pom pon, and the name "Siva" was inside the logo. Pretty..it sounds like a tiger's name. Oh, I forgot, I also like Eamon.
I was trying to think of the common names when I was in school....we had 4 or 5 Lori's, and 2 Crystals. All the Chris's you could imagine, John's and Matt's in abundance.

I too love Micah and Aiden and Noah. Those are great names. My ex was Joshua so I'm not keen on that but it is a great name. I have a special name from the bible I will name my future son :-p I just love names. OH and Eamon no matter how you spell it is great. Eadhmonn or whichever. Just watch out for initials. Mine are BES which I love reminds me of a country cow or something ol Bessie :) My cousin Eamonn was going to have Amon and his initials A.S.S. can you imagine? So we informed her of the celtic spelling.
