I have recently finished reading a couple of fabulous novels by a new author, Cindy Woodsmall. They are the first two in a series called "The Sisters of the Quilt", and are set in Amish country. The books are When the Heart Cries and When the Morning Comes. I have read other books in the past about the Amish, but honestly, in my humble opinion, these two were the best and the most realistic! How the Amish community connects with and interacts with the "English" community is portrayed beautifully. Just thought I would share this in case anyone was interested :)

I'm half through the second one and already wanting the third, so I can find out how this ends. Doesn't it drive you nuts to have to wait months to get the ending?

I read the first two and am amazed that I have to wait a whole year to read the ending. Sometimes I hate series like these because I forget all about what happened in the first two books by the time the third comes out.
One thing I didn't like about the second one is that it seems like during the whole book nothing NEW happened. I finished the book and thought "I probably could have skipped this one because I didn't find out any new details." Did anyone else feel this way?

Jenny, that is so true! And, I find that a quick re-read right while the next book is shipping helps greatly

I bought these at barnes and noble and read on the way back home on our christmas vacation to florida. I agree these are excellent reads and give you a real insight to some of the amish traditions and customs. Has this author written any other books?

I haven't read that series, but I've read Beverly (forget last name) I think she has 2 series. I read all of the one and started another. My g-ma read another series by someone but I didn't care for them. I love those types of books because we have Amish friends and it's just so nice to read.
