I guess I must be a farmgirl when I'm planning a chicken coop to rival my own house! My neighbor and I call it the Taj Mah Coop, and it will be complete with an old door, a glass door knob, salvaged nine-pane windows, window boxes and a mailbox! I can't wait until we can get started on it!

Oh Julie, farmgirl1 (my dd Robin) will be so jealous, make sure you post pics. I am sure Robin's door will be red and may even have one of those ruby glass knobs on it and of course embroidered curtains!!

Have fun, you are so farmgirlish,
Becky

I know I'm a farmgirl cause instead of spending extra cash on clothes or makeup, I am spending it on things like extra pine shavings for my BEAUTIFUL nubians for special bedding, ignored the cashiers funny look when I bought 5 boxes of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda, & am growing ever more impatient that hubby's pick up is on the fritz cause I can't get those landscape timbers transported I need to make more raised beds.. & of course cause I love MaryJane's site better than any other...

1 You know you are a farm girl when you have friends from all over the world that really care about you.
2 And you have cow poo under your boots.

Friends are the best collectables.

Thanks for the vote of confidence on my Taj Mah Coop!! We should get started on it after the first of the year, so I'll post pics as soon as I can. Boy, oh, boy, it's GREAT to be a farmgirl!

i love that paradise plantation:) I always wished I'd had a plantation in the family.....and I still want to visit the south someday and maybe live a year or two. Just fascinates me. Wouldn't I be silly to name my house paradise plantation but that sums it up totally xoox

1. you'd rather be wearing a homemade apron than a evening gown
2. boots with pig poo on them instead of heels
3. soap and water IS your cologne
4. you dont mind when your guy pees outside cuz it means you don't have to put the lid down Again!
5. Best of all, if you could do it all over, you'd never have left the farm in the first place!

I love deadlines. I especially like the whooshing sound they make as they go flying by. ~anon

Hubby tell you to spend $50 on something nice for finishing college this semester and you order 2 dress patterns, some material, one sock doggie and keep the rest to go "junking" this weekend.

Cheers,
Heather

and it may have even been a gift from another farmgirl ;)

you consider tossing most of your wardrobe in favor or 5 dresses in the same pattern from Malphi!

Ok Girls, I am loving it. It's the small things in life isn't it. I had to pull an extra 4 hour shift yesterday that is not very appealling to me with the gas prices as the hospital is 50 miles one way. However I knew I could go right around the corner and check out the Goodwill and I came away smiling at my finds: Levi's (womens) for grandaughter perfect shape you know the low rise flares.. a sheet,, pair pillowcases,,,, tights for other gd,,, pottery bowl ME,, a brand new scrub top for $3.50 can't beat it,,,,a top ME,,,, and about 6 sweaters to make mittens for my coworkers they are looking good!,,, oh and hair barrettes brand new really cute farmgirlish for my farmgirl ponytail............ all for <$40 us farmgirls are so thrifty.

Keep em coming! I have to run to the drugstore for my cherries in the snow and some for gifts for my farmgirls too.

You know you're a farmgirl when...

...you go to put on boots that haven't been worn since last winter, and they have cat food inside them! (Yep, happened to me this weekend--mice!)

...there's a draw for prizes at a local trade show, and all the women want the half load of gravel (Yep, happened this spring!)

You know you're a farmgirl when:

1. The idea of sitting on your porch with a cup of coffee in the Fall sounds more appealing than going out to dinner

2. Getting dirty outside is FUN!

3. Helping your hubby and getting dirty is even BETTER!

4. You find pure satifaction in taking weeks making something that you could probably buy in a store in a matter of minutes.

5. You have needlework "battlescars" and are proud to show them off! lol

What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger!

I can relate to the pure satisfaction of making something by hand... I make quilts, purses, dolls, tablecloths, aprons, etc. :-)
1. love the smell of damp dirt!
2. enjoy pruning plants by hand while smelling the dirt
3. love the smell of laundry on the clothsline (or drying rack when it's raining)
4. happy to have my clothspin holder to get sunbleached and wore out...gives me an excuse to make a new one!

also:
1. finding something at the Salvation Army store and love it because of the style not necessarily the money savings
2. don't mind cleaning off the dirt of a Salvation Army toy to wrap for Christmas....my kid will think it's new! and this IS about the money savings

All I want for Christmas is a new pair of Wellingtons (mine from the Cornwall Farmers Exchange have FINALLY worn out after 15 years)and a Marugg Scythe!!!

I'm setting aside some of my Christmas bonus money for seeds and soil amendments!

Lol!! Well....if I have to be a junkie of a sort, it's better in collecting than in anything that would really do me harm.
