I know this sounds like a weird prayer request but I would really appreciate it!
We have an older house that still has some knob and tube wiring. Insurance companies are no longer willing to cover it (even though it's perfectly safe if it's copper and not fraying, etc) - so we have to replace what we know is there. Hubby was able to get the stuff in the basement fixed but is running into snags in the attic.
A friend who used to do electrical work is coming over tonight to help. It has to be done by the 28th.
Please pray it will be an easy fix and we won't have to start breaking down walls or some such thing! We simply don't have the money or time right now to do that!

Thanks!

Holly

Been there done that, Holly! Do you have to have his work "certified"? Better check on that, simply because, we had a friend of my fil's do our work, and it had to be certified by the inspector (county) so that, in the event of a disaster (heaven forbid) our insurance company WOULD cover it. They wouldn't if say, my dh had done it, or we had a buddy who didn't get it inspected.
Just a helpful hint because of the headaches we've already experienced--love old houses, don't love the "guts" of them

They didn't say so - and USAA is sending out an inspector when hubby is done but thanks for the tip. We can not replace all the wiring but all the outlets save one are grounded and even the knob and tube is attached to the breaker box so it's simply a matter of insurance companies being stupid but we have to do it. We just don't have the money to do all of it -- very frustrating.

Thanks

So my hubby's friend came over last night and looked at what's what -- apparently the knob and tube that's left is only to some lights but what's baffling to me is that the previous owners - spliced romax to the knob and tube in several spots to make it look like it's code wire when it's really not further in the wall? WHY didn't they just replace it when they replaced everything else?!!! Beyond me but at least it isn't majoring wiring work to be done just pulling out the old and pulling through the new and reattaching the light switches and then we will be done.

Thanks for your prayers and for your continued prayers that it will be easy and smooth for hubby and no problems from here!

Thank you!

Holly
