The response to this fire has been tremendous and overwhelmingly heartwarming. Many local folks have donated clothes, coats, shoes, boots, food and furniture. Flatware is now covered as well as fresh fruits and veggies. I don't remember what else is on the list while I'm posting this but I will keep posting what comes in so no one sends duplicate items.
You all have been so wonderfully supportive and generous and we wish to thank you all again for all you have done to help Candace through this. Hopefully, no one of you ever has to go through this, but if you do, you can bet the Mountain Farmgirls of Idaho City will send care packages pronto!
With deep heartfelt appreciation, Lisa Marie
Edit: Other than the books, it appears that Candace's need list is covered! With the items you all have on the way and furniture and appliances that will be coming in soon from local folks around the county; I think she's got all she needs to set up house again once another mobile home is found. Rose or I will let you all know if I'm wrong.

Rebekka, Candace received your package and started using the Rescue Remedy right away. She wanted me to thank you for her as she no longer has a computer.
Grant Hawk, the owner of the trailer park, found a nice trailer for her. The man who owned it originally wanted $1000 for it, but changed his mind and decided to donate it to Candace instead! It's bigger than her old one, and it has a bump out that the previous owner used as an art studio. Which would be exactly what Candace would use it for.
So things are getting better. Candace has finally broke down and cried a couple times. She said she thought she was doing fine and that she was past all that, but it just suddenly hit her. Many of us are going by the hotel on a regular basis to check on her, give her hugs and make sure her needs are covered.

Hi Lisa, So happy to hear Candace has a new home! When will she be able to move in?
When sending a package, what is best: her Po Box or the Court House? Thanks Bunches!
Hugs, Maryjane Lee

I am so glad that she has a new home! What a wonderful response from everyone in town and across the country. I hope Candace knows it's okay to break down.
There is a working I-Mac at our goodwill right now for $99. I don't have $99 to spend, but if others would be willing help with donations, I would be willing to go get it and ship it to her.

Maryjane, it depends on how you send it. UPS, FedEx and DSL won't deliver to a po box. If you just go by US Mail then the po box is fine. Candace thinks she'll be able to move into it within a few months. First the cost of moving it up here and I guess some work has to be done to it and a woodstove installed as she couldn't possibly afford propane heat. Most of us up here can't which is why we heat with wood. But having the trailer checked off the list is a big load off her mind.
Alee, your offer on the computer is wonderful, but I think Candace's grandson (our local computer guru) is looking for one for her. He knows what's good and what's not. Many times he's seen computers for sale that were so outdated that they are not worth even half the price that is put on them. So, we left that in his hands. Thanks for checking around, though!

Glad to hear things are looking up with the new house.
Does Candace have access to chain stores if we would like to send gift cards? You mentioned she is an artsy person, maybe art supply stores like Aaron Brothers, Joann's Fabric or Michaels Crafts - not sure what you have in your area. I thought once she gets settled she'll discover other items she needs and this would be a good way for her to fill in.
Please let me know.
Thanks |

The outpouring of love from you dear ladies has just touched my heart. And Candace sounds likes a very deserving recipient of it all. I'm so glad that her story has a happy ending and that all her needs are being met. I will put a little care package of goodies together to help make her new residence a bit more welcoming when she finally settles in.
Blessings, Lea

There are just no words to describe the incredible outpouring of love and concern for our Miss Candace. It goes so far beyond Thank You that, for once probably, I am speechless.
Candace recevied the most wonderful care package from Mary Janes Farm yesterday. I found Candace at her temporary home yesterday afternoon and with Lisa Maries help was able to deliver them to her and help her unpack her wonderful gifts. Candace has always been poor and never spent money on herself so she is still having a hard time understanding how so many, many people, most unknown to her, can give her such wonderful things.
The mobile home ended up being donated to her and it has a "bump out" room that was used as the former owners art studio, which can now be Candaces! She is still shell shocked but also realizes she does need to grieve so has slowed down a little.
The owner of the hotel where Candace is staying temporarily has now offered to give the Farmgirls shop space in the hotel doing away with a couple of rooms, so the spill over from Candace's tragedy is just enormous. She was interviewed by phone yesterday from another mid west state and when asked about a computer she stated that everything was gone. The reporter then said he would take care of it!
And most definately her hero dog has received a wonderful dog bed and a new dog house, along with dog food.
God bless everyone who put Candace in their prayers and who sent gifts to help her start over. And bless everyone who responded who has gone through this tragedy as well and truly understands what an incredible loss she has suffered. We feel so humble by everyones kindness and love.
Thank you all! Farmgirl love and hugs to all and should any farmgirls ever make it our way they will be welcomed with open arms and open hearts.
Rose

What a wonderful reporter! I am so glad so much good can come out of so much tragedy! Maybe her life will be like the phoenix- rising from the ashes to something more beautiful?

Yes, Beautiful. I can't ship a hug. Please hug her for me. Thank you for letting us know, touching our hearts, and reminding us of the meaning of Thanksgiving and (extended) family.
We make a difference. |

Local folks have donated a queen size bed, 2 chairs, a small kitchen table and chairs, washer and dryer, stove and fridge. Her home site has been cleared away and scraped clean and flat. Idaho Power was putting in new lines/box and the phone company was doing their thing, too. Now, it's just a matter of getting the new home up here and put together. There are two porches, custom insulated skirting and the bump-out studio to remove. Then they have to weld on the trailer hitch and get wheels on it. Hopefully it won't take too long, but we all know it won't happen before Christmas.
Candace is feeling out of sorts and is worrying about her buildings that she has not been cleaning well, lately. I have assured her that everyone understands that she is going through a traumatic time and that they will all wait patiently for her to feel better. That everyone knows that she's not just "slacking" because we all know how anal she is about cleaning (she's the best).
So, while Candace seems to have all of her physical needs met, the mental, emotional and spiritual aspect is still under repair. This entire town just loves her to pieces (you just can't help but to love her) and she'll continue to get support from everyone here.
We'll let you all know when her new home gets here and the moving in starts.

I can't even imagine what Candace is going through. It will probably take a while to recover. Please let her know we are keeping her in our thoughts and prayers. God bless you all.

Corinne, Candace isn't sure if your package came or not. She said your name and address sounded familiar but she didn't have you on the list that she has in her room. She said there are three more pages to that list at someone else's house and she'll check those pages and get back to me. So, I'll let you know soon. Mail is extremely slow here (we jokingly call it Pony Express here) and during the Christmas holiday it's even worse. It's possible it's just held up in the mail.

Thanks to let me know Lisa, I am in no hurry to get an answer, just wantd to ask about it. I sent it from KUWAIT, don't tell her, but there is a shawl, a small bottle of organic lavender essential oil, a tea cosy set, a couple of aprons and some liniment. So whenever it comes I hope it will be a good surprise. Thanks again for all the good work you are doing, the updates and just the frienship, I feel it from here. Corinne |
