I'm going to be participating in a craft show here in town on Dec 1st. Thought I would give it a go and see if my stuff sells - homemade bears, bags, ornaments and stockings from patriotic/military material & local university material.

I've done a few shows before but would love any ideas from you ladies!

thanks!

Holly

1. Bring lots of stuff. You can't sell what you don't have.
2. Have business cards or little flyers with a website where people can purchase from you. Someone may love your stuff but may not be prepared to buy from you that day. I have seen lots of cute stuff at craft fairs. I am always really disappinted when they donylt have awebsite. That says to me that they aren't really into what they are doing.
3. Check and double check all you supplies so you don't forget anything.
4. Pack you car the night before so you aren't worriedxabiut it in the morning.
5. Bring lots of change!
6. Bring bags and packing materials if you sell anything fragile.

Set your display up about a week ahead of time. Leave it up for a day or so and keep looking at it. Make the necessary changes here and there to get it just right. Then take a picture to take with you the day of the show so you will have it help you set up. This is a great tip from my friend Sher in KS.

stand up or sit on a stool that makes you eye level, that way you can make eye contact. Speak to everyone you can.

Holly,
Having a variety of items is great! People tend to be drawn into those booths rather than on which sells only one type of thing. I also suggest setting up at home to get a feel for how things will look on show day. You might want to bring along a small bin with things like pins, tape, etc. you never know what you might need to tuck or repair something during the day!

My two most important tips would be...
First, DO NOT stay up the night before the show finishing that one last thing! Get some rest so you will be alert & happy on show day.

Second, SMILE and chat with folks who come by your booth. Nothing I hate more that a vendor who sits scowling behind a table! It also helps to have a little hand sewing in your lap for a conversation starter.

Wishing you much success!
Rhonda
