Hi everyone!
I am so happy to find you all! I just received MaryJane's book, "for the farmgirl in all of us" and I love it!
My entire life has been spent in a city (Buffalo, NY) or suburbia. I loved the trips we would take to my aunt's farm in PA when I was a kid. I never wanted to leave. I loved waking up to the sound of the cows and the sheep. So much nicer than the annoying buzz I wake up to now. I always thought that the freshest air you could breath in included the smell of horse and cow manure (my friends thought I was weird). I wanted to live on a farm as far back as I can remember. Unfortunately I haven't gotten there yet. I am on my way though. We recently bought a house on an acre of land. Most of the land is a mountain filled with huge rocks and woods but I do have a small garden and we have a couple of chickens! I love my chickens and can't wait to get more! It's a good start.
It's so good to find such a community as this!

welcome karen from another karen in missouri-

i agree with you. i'm grateful to have found a place with so many like-minded people.

we have chickens too-but my husband raises exhibition bantams so we have many, MANY chickens. but they are beautiful and we've met some amazing people all over the country through them.

welcome again-looking forward to getting to know you.

talk to you soon-
karen

Welcome Karen,
From another Karen, This forum is kinda like home.
We all seem to be cut from the same cloth in that respect.
Glad to hear you are on your way as far as your piece of heaven.
Enjoy!
