As many of you may remember, I have been gushing over an old farmhouse in Spangle, which is about 18 minutes south of Downtown Spokane, Wa. It was originally a craftsman style, which is still obvious on the inside, but they added a sun porch and fretwork that makes it not as "true craftsman" looking on the outside. It has a really bright metal roof, but to me that is kind of charming. The color is a little odd. If it was just a yellowish-tan, I'd love it, but it has kind of a peach cast mixed in too, which kind of clashes with the red. But we could always eventually repaint. There are two ugly bedrooms you will see in the link I provided. They only have a wall separating them. We would knock that out and make it one room for a master bedroom. The upstairs has three tiny bedrooms, but they would work for our three boys. We would eventually add on to the back kind of a combined dining and family room, as the eating area isn't as large as I would like, since I love having big dinners at our house. The house is on 10 acres of beautiful rolling wheatfields and has incredible fruit trees.

So take a peek and tell me if, steep stairs and all I am crazy?

What a nice place Brenda. My house will also have a red roof, once it gets put on. So I love the red!!! It is so nice on the inside too.
Good luck Michele

It's got great bones-- could use some interior decorating in my opinion- but's that half the fun of buying a house anyway. And 10 acres 10 minutes from downtown? You have to snap it up!

Hi Amanda,
I definitely agree about the decorating . . . but for those of you that know me well that is my passion. I would definitely strip down any woodwork that is painted down to the original deep red oak and the two mainfloor bedrooms (the red one and the paneled one) will turn to one room. The bathroom would get a major overhaul too . . . the vanity will be either an old dresser or old buffet . . . depending upon what I find and will get redone with farmgirl charm. The sun porch could be so much cuter than it is and if we live here, it will be. Since the market is slower than molasses and we still have a house to sell, I am trying not to get too attached to it though.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Brenda,
I love it! love the wood trim around the windows & the wood floors. A little too much floral wall paper in the kitchen, but I'm betting you are pretty clever & crafty & could turn that into a cute crounty primative kitchen nook in no time!.
Hopefully it is ment to be & if so, then it will be....???did I make any sence w/that statement? lol!
hugz to ya.

Thanks girls,
Yes, I agree the floral wall paper will have to go. My tastes are a bit simpler than that these days, though I am still stuck with a floral upholstery on my antique sofa and chair I re-upholstered during my flowery days. I still love flowers, but for the most part, outside or in a bouquet on the table. I have vowed from here on out anything upholstered I get will always be simple so I don't tire of it so quickly.

Hugs & blessings,

Brenda

Brenda - I vote with the other farmgirls. That is an absolutely darlin' place! I can already see it completed, with you sitting on that porch enjoying your new farm. I'm doing some heavy praying that you are able to sell your house and move to this farm. I love it!

Nice! Good luck selling your house, Brenda.

I notice the real estate ad doesn't feature a picture of the stairs...

Oh Brenda, I'm gonna keep my fingers crossed and send all my best wishes your way-that place is too cute! Let's just hope that the housing sales are just a bit slower for that house, than on the one you're trying to sell. I'll try not to be too jealous of your great find (by the time I get ready to sell my house, I'm guessing the market won't be as slow as molasses, it will be dead as a doorknob!) if you promise to invite me for lemonaide next summer on that great sun porch-
