I've been searching all over the net, and being that we have a painting business, I feel so silly asking this question...
We're painting the exterior, and I have all the shutters down to be painted as well. The house is going to be a light yellow and the shutters are going to be a country blue. I'm really trying to get as intricate as possible with painting, mainly for advertising purposes, so I'm curious as to whether or not to paint my shutters two colors. Light blue border with the louvers a darker blue, or vice versa. I've tried searching google images, and looking at shutter mfg. companies to see if they have any pictures, but Im at a loss...
Have yall seen shutters painted two colors? I've made up a little sample color image

I've never seen shutters painted in two colors. I have seen lots of details on old Victorians painted up in various colors. But never shutters. Seems like it would be too much going on in such a small area, especially without intricate details. Do you have an old shutter that you could try it on first?

They are just cheap plastic, and I don't really want to buy new. I just got done priming them, so maybe I'll experiment and try it. There is only two pairs of shutters on the front of the house, one pair on on side, and two pair on another side. And the house definitely isnt victorian :) It's more cottage style.

I'll photograph and put them up on here. I just think it would look nice, but we'll have to see what they look like on the house as well.

I have often seen shutters that are solid (not louvered) painted in this manner and I think it looks great!! Can't wait to see your finished result.
